Well, usually for me, a single pony is 2 hours. A lot of my time is burned up on all the accessories, and getting them right. I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

I've thought about opening up a request shop, but with how much time I spend on one, plus all the things that I have to do IRL, I wouldn't have time to fulfill them all.

I'll do it as a favor, if someone asks. I've done a few of the profile pictures floating around here, Base's included. It just takes me so much time, because I want it to be just right.

Keeps me active, and practicing, but at an easy, manageable pace. Honestly, the reason I learned how to do it was to make my own profile pictures.

It's not hard to do, depending on the program, but it is fairly time-consuming. It takes me a lot longer because I do whole bodies. If it was just heads, it would be a lot quicker.

I have the general technique down, and I use bases instead of starting from scratch, because doing pony anatomy freehand is impossible.

Ah, gotcha. :P Has it always been more of a time-consuming than difficult thing for you?

Eeyup.

Here's the sumtotal of the product yielded by my Apple Bloom dream:

You sir, have a very "unique" mind. Also, her muzzle is just a bit too big.

I noticed, and the shape is a bit too angular.

Had to do it, though. How else was the hammer going to fit in her mouth?

That's what it is. The curve between the muzzle and the head is too sharp. It shouldn't really be concave like that. My general rule of thumb is, if you go past vertical, it won't look right.
