What don't I like?

 

I'll read anything really but I mostly read sci-fi, fantasy and historical fiction.

 

To give you an idea, the books I've read so far this year are;

 

War and Peace (started in late 2014)

The Silmarillion

Animal Farm

Slaughterhouse Five

 

And I'm currently reading I, Claudius.

I tend to like inhuman characters too, whether they be animals, robots, aliens, whatever. Easier to connect with for some odd reason.

It is for that reason that I'm a bit cautious about watching Equestria Girls.

I'm similar. I love fantasy books, sci fi, you name it. I also really enjoy historical fiction, like WW2 or medieval. 

 

The Silmarillion

 

I realllly want to read the Lotr books. Books are usually on a whole better than their movies, and I loved the Lotr films

 

I think I find human characters a tad boring too sometimes. I mean, you see them everyday, so something different, not human, allows you play with your imagination I suppose =P

Watching EQG with them being humans didn't really bother me, I still sorta recognized Twilight as being a pony despite having a human body, so she "Felt" the same.

 

 But also, with those skin colors, there's no way those people are fully human. It's a planet of mutants for sure.

I thought Equestria Girls was alright but nothing amazing. The sequel is considerably better. Both films do a fairly good job of sticking to the show's morals despite the different setting.

 

Of course it's not without its problems...

The Lord of the Rings can be a tricky read. It's very long, has a lot of characters and is fairly slow paced a lot of the time.

 

The Silmarillion is basically telling the entire history of Middle Earth from its creation up until the rise of Sauron. It's even more difficult than Lord of the Rings because it basically reads more like a bible than a novel but it's one of the most amazing things I have ever had the fortune to read.

 

It also answers a lot of questions you would have from Lord of the Rings (What the Balrog was, what the undying lands are etc)
