Because it's snowing, they let us off work early today. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do some drifting and have a little fun driving in the snow. 

 

There was also a lady in a Merc that was stuck. Couldn't have been more stuck. And her being stuck was holding up traffic. Basically the RWD Mercedes couldn't get going from where she was. She was there a solid two or three minutes and traffic ahead of her was moving up. 

 

Why nobody would get out and help her, I don't know. So I finally took off my seatbelt, killed my car, put on the hazards, and walked up to her window and told her I was going to give her a push. 

 

That's just being a decent person. And you get a benefit from it - you get to get moving again. So does everybody else. You do everybody else a favor by helping someone get their car moving. 

 

I swear people turn into complete idiots when the roads get a little slick.

Driving in snow... the fact that I can still get the back end of my car to slide out... SO MUCH FUN!

 

Is your E-brake on the floor or is it a handle? Mine is a handle so I just grab it (after checking there's nobody coming and nobody is parked near the intersection) and hold the button down til I lose the back end. 

 

And then after that...all smiles

 

There's something about a car going sideways that's just the most fun thing in the world. I dunno

Normally, I don't even need it. The car's so light, that even at a normal stoplight, I can spin the tires without trying.

Mine has an option on the gear shifter that lets you switch to manual mode. So you can put it in whatever gear you want. Makes it much easier to drive on snow because I can force it to shift at 1,500 if I need it to. This thing wants to go fast so it'll wind all the way up to 3,000 if I let it shift by itself. But that's easy. Driving fast in a straight line on the snow is also fun. But nothing is as fulfilling as sliding out the back end.

I don't even have an autostick. It's just an automatic. All 140 horsepower or so of it.

It only weighs 2500 pounds. It was 130, but I put a K&N intake on it.

I'd have loved to do work on the Prelude. It's quite possible to get the stock motors up to around 250 hp. I have a buddy who's got an '08 Cobalt. It sounds like the Corolla and the Cobalt are a lot alike on paper. His car only weighs in the ballpark of 2,600 pounds and makes 140 hp. I'm sure it [the Corolla] can be a lot of fun when you can make it fun. 

 

In my car, having a little fun can mean I spring yet another leak lol

The only thing is, there's not a lot of support for Corollas when it comes to tuning. 4 door sedans don't get as much help as 2 doors and hatchbacks do.
