Stupid corporations and other folks telling the little guy that it's not causing earthquakes...well how else do you explain how we went from having just a handful of earthquakes a year to thousands of them over a span of about 5 years? It's crap.

It's a technique used by energy companies where they pump lots of liquids (many of them known toxins and carcinogens - chemicals that cause cancer) into the ground to crack the shale that is about 8,000 to 10,000 feet beneath the surface to free up the natural gas underneath. Those chemicals are contaminating water supplies across the country. People are falling ill because their water is contaminated. Some people can even turn on the tap and light their water on fire. 

 

That's right. Their water catches on fire. Water isn't supposed to be flammable. 

 

It's also destroying the ecosystem and polluting the atmosphere. The natural gas wells around Fort Worth, TX are said to produce just as much polluting emissions as all the cars and trucks in the area on a given day.

 

In Oklahoma, particularly the northeast part, the wells are causing earthquakes. It's believed now that Oklahoma has more earthquakes than California. Between 1978 and 2008, Oklahoma only had about two or three earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or higher. In 2014, we had 207.
