I used to talk to this girl frequently. She was a German foreign exchange student from around Düsseldorf or Köln. I met her because she went to my school when she was in the program. We used to send letters and birthday cards, Christmas cards, etc to each other all the time. That's beside the point. She spoke and wrote better English than most of my English friends did. She didn't even have that much of an accent. You could tell she was German, but her accent was paper thin. She told me the majority of Germans around our age speak English. Hell, she was fluent in German, English, French, and was learning Spanish too. She attended a Gymnasium in Germany. All I know about that is German schools branch out 3 different ways that teach different focuses. American schools just teach broad reaching subjects with no chance for a child to focus their studies. It's awful. I bet I would have been awesome doing computer sciences if I had more opportunities to pick it up in my formative years, but again, I digress. I guess a Gymnasium has classes that teach many languages? I'm not sure. Uncultured American here.

Anyway the point is I've actually interacted with quite a few native Germans and I've heard a lot that English is generally taught in schools so it's no surprise to me that you know English.

Logic in pilot exams was "if in doubt ...longest answer"

Although I have faced questions with answers

A. All of the above

B. Blah blah blah

C. Yakkity schmakkity

D. Rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb

...and an infamous paper where the answers were not randomised and EVERY answer was 'a'

The exam stood as valid, one person aced as after 15mins of 'a's he said "balls to it" and went a a a a ...
