Another way of learning is to watch other artists draw.  I prefer to use Picarto.

 

True though I haven't tried that before most I've done is watch a tutorial or two on shading but that was for traditional style not too much help for digital.

Well Big Hero 6 won Best Animated Picture and Neil Patrick Harris appeared in just his underwear. 

 

Yeah, it's fun and interesting to watch how such small brush strokes and seemingly pointless lines actually contribute to the drawing and how it all comes together.  I highly recommend it for an artist.
