My dad manages a retail business and he complains about that all the time.

Well the way I see it, it is my job to be at my job on time every day. And yeah, I have mishaps and I'm late every now and then. But I'm late maybe once every two or three months. It's not like, "Well it's Tuesday. I'm gonna be late for work." I come in on time almost every day. And hell, if I have to stay late, I will stay til 7 or 8 in the evening or until my work is done. And I'm paid a salary. I don't get overtime or comp time. Basically after 5 o'clock, I'm working for free. 

 

All I ask of people is to give a damn about their work. And if you don't care about it, quit! Go find a job you do care about! Don't stay at a job you feel "meh" about. Go to a job you look forward to getting up at 6 in the morning to go do! I have days where I don't want to go to the office, but I freaking go anyway! Because the way I see it, unless I'm on my deathbed, I've got no legitimate reason to be missing work.

 

And it's not the people who are late every now and then. I'm talking about those who are habitually tearing down the hall to get to their computers on time. Hell, if you'd leave your house just ten minutes earlier, you wouldn't be tearing down the hall to get to your computer on time! As for the people who are there on time every day, those people are having no problems whatsoever. Because they actually give a crap and they paid attention in their trainings.

When you enjoy what you are doing, it's a career. You like getting up and going to work every day, and you don't do it for the money, you do it for the passion and pride it gives you.

And the chances of me actually managing to find a job like that, and also get into it are super slim.

 

 The only concrete plan I have for my life is that I want to do Let's plays on youtube in the future, but that's not something I want as a job so much as a hobby.
