No, I'm not going into depth this time. The state of Pennsylvania requires yearly inspection (and in some counties, emissions) testing on all motor vehicles. My car is scheduled every June for this.

In Allegheny County, the county I live in, emissions are required as well as a safety inspection. My car has to have cats and a muffler, both for visual inspection, and emissions purposes.
