A simple equation would be nice, but it's a very complex system.

 

I've always wanted to be stopped by the Police and be asked "Do you know how fast you were going?"

But the few times I have been stopped I've been very "yes sir, no sir, sorry sir"

Yeah, some would be dumb enough.

 

There's a big difference between thinking about something and actually doing it.

 

A friend had a meeting with a psychiatrist as part of a selection procedure.

"Do you like sex?"

"Do you like rough sex?" - define "rough"

"Have you ever thought about suicide?" - thought about it as a hypothetical exercise or in the context of auto-euthenasia or contemplated doing it.

 

There's interpretation there. It's not black and white.
