Don't judge a book by its cover. You will truly understand it if you're just willing to read it.

What's your favorite Smashing Pumpkins song?

I don't know, really. Their first four albums are pretty hard to beat imho. :3

I guess if I had to pick a favorite, it'd be Mayonaise. Never fails to get me emotional.

Okay, I'll admit, Billy's voice sucks live, I'm sure it takes him a lot of takes to get the studio versions right.

ill explode

I'm about to buy the new Radiohead album if the rest of it is as good as its singles.

I don't know if they had autotune in 1991.

Yeah. Here we go

"Dr Andy Hildebrand is the inventor of the voice pitch-correcting software called Auto-Tune. The first song published using Auto-Tune on the vocals was the 1998 song "Believe" by Cher."

Found that on the Google. :P Not sure if it's true, but if it is, they would have only been able to use autotune on Adore. :P

I'm unfamiliar with their discography. :muffins: I assumed they still released albums in the 00's.

IMHO, Machina is kinda meh. It and Machina II were supposed to be a concept album. A double album, too. But because Adore (98) didn't sell well (despite a very warm critical reception that rivals that of their greatest work), Virgin didn't allow them to make it a double album. So they pulled what was either best or what was finished out and put it on Machina. And despite being a concept album, there's basically no concept because they weren't allowed to stitch everything together right. Anyway, Machina II was not mastered at all. They took the recordings from the tapes, threw it together, and pressed only 25 vinyls (some of which are circulating for over $10,000 a pop) and sent them to close friends and some Chicago radio stations, telling them to upload it to the internet for free. The album is totally copyleft. But the audio quality isn't great since it's all vinyl sourced. Some copies of the album came out better than others. You can still hear the pops and cracks typical of vinyl. But some of the songs from Machina II were really good and the album showed a lot of potential. Anyway, after that, they broke up for about 7 years. Then Billy put an ad in one of the Chicago papers that the Pumpkins were getting back together without telling any of his former mates. The only person who showed up was the drummer Jimmy. iirc, it was just them who put Zeitgeist together. It has a couple of decent tracks like Doomsday Clock and Tarantula (which were singles), but the rest of it is kinda......eh. Since then, they've released Oceania and Monuments. They're what I would consider a return to form, but the Pumpkins are only a mere shadow of their former selves. Billy and James hated each other for 16 years. I don't know if they've repaired their relationship some that James would join him in a show. But after James departed (I don't think D'arcy had much to offer the band although she did shine in Mellon Collie), a lot of the magic was lost. James wrote some great riffs for the earlier band. And I think there really was something between the two that just made it work. But they hated each other. I was reading Billy's blog and he was talking about how after they played their last show, the stage was the last place he'd seen James. Never saw him again afterward. As if he finished playing the set, picked up his things, and just took off. I think if James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin come back to the band, something special could happen.

Could

Doesn't mean it will. But I think it'll be better than anything Billy is putting out on his own. :P
