I for one am much more inclined to watch drama shows and such, it is rare that I even watch cartoon to begin with.

It's not just an argument for MLP though. It's an argument for "Kids" cartoons in general. No show should just strive to be Dumb and mindless. It doesn't matter who or what you're aiming for, you should always try to create a show worthwhile. It doesn't necessarily have to be some mind-blowingly amazing thing, but putting in effort to make it good is important.

Kids shows should be held to standards. They should respect their audience and treat them like thinking beings. Kids do not deserve "Mindless dumb entertainment."

 

 I saw someone say that about a few of my favorite cartoons and it made my blood boil.

This argument is why shows like pretty much most of the bullsh*t on Nickelodeon get to exist. The corporate suits in charge of commercializing running the networks don't give a crap about quality and building a connection with their audience. They just pick up whatever's expected to get the most money in the least time, and that's why there's so much crap out there.

 

People also don't realize how impressionable kids are and influenced by the media they watch. At least we know who to point the finger at if the next generation turns out even more messed up than us!
