They went through everything I had when I was unpacking. Except one box. Where I had my comics hidden under some various other articles. I made sure to mark it "2172." It was just a random number I'd thought up, but a marking you might find on a normal box to keep it inconspicuous to the untrained eye. I made sure I was the one to unload it from the truck. Only I could touch that box. When nobody was around, I loaded it into a high shelf, saying I'd unpack it later. 

 

The mission was a success.

My car was busted that weekend. A fan motor went dead and my engine was overheating within 5 minutes of being driven. I didn't have my car; it was in the shop. The truth is I never wore the shirts anyway and I was purging myself of my things. For me to keep something when I go through my things (either moving or spring cleaning) it has to have one of three values:

1. Sentimental value (It means something or reminds me of an event - a birthday card or photograph);
2. Practical value (I can use it to accomplish a task - a wrench or a spatula in good condition); or
3. Monetary value/Liquidity (I can easily sell it - a gold bar or a Nintendo 64 game)

If it has neither of these, it has no value to me and is deemed trash. I could have tried eBay but the kind of money they would bring in wouldn't have covered transaction and shipping costs so I would have made little profit for the work involved or even incurred a loss. I have sold things on eBay but they cleared well what they cost me to sell them and I turned up in the black after I sold those things. 

 

The shirts didn't mean something to me, I didn't wear them, and I don't know anyone who would buy the shirts or even take them for free so I threw them out. The comics had Practical value since I go back and reread those. 

 

By the way, can you tell that accounting is my profession? xD
