  1. 1. What should happen after 1 million is reached?

    • Start over at 1
      28
    • Keep counting to infinity (count to the next million(s))
      105
    • Count back down to 1 (then back up)
      52

It goes beyond releasing and basic breeding tricks, Nomed.

People literally do the math on how many of one kind of wild pokemon to take down, because it'll give a certain percent advantage in EXP, and other VERY in depth stuff. People in the pokemon world would not be aware that such-and-such pokemon gives off exactly 1267 exp and whatever else.

Well, depends what you mean by legendary.

I guess like Dialga, Palkia, Arceus etc.

Anyone remember Joey's Rattata? That was one special Rattata

Well, in that case, I stayed away from using them, but I did have a tendency to collect them.

I agree with you here. I hate it when numbers and math calculations become part of a game in a way like that. It takes away from mystery and immersion. I'm all for strategy and tactics, but when it get's to that point it just ruins the fun for me.

When you get to a point where you actually break down every single little variable and calculation, in a video game, it's time to grow up, move on, and get a real life. Honestly, that's just sad.

I have to disagree with this though. While it's not my preferred way to play games, the people who analyze them and break down all the numbers and other things have a place too. If that's how they enjoy their games, then by all means let them enjoy their games how they want to.

One of the big modders for the original Isaac game did some stuff like this. Going through the game and breaking down all the variables and calculations and making mods for the game and other things like this. He ended up getting hired to work on Rebirth for it.

I look at people like that, and just shake my head. I look at the fact that they have wasted so much time on something so trivial and to a degree, unimportant, that they waste quality time that could be used for something more productive, just to cheat for their own gratification. Am I the only one that thinks that sounds pathetic?

Well, I wouldn't call it cheating.

But yeah, I wouldn't have the patience to study a game in depth like that.

I agree. Splitscreen multiplayer is still the way to go (or it would be if I had actually had anyone to play with)

The most in-depth I really get in the game is breeding pokemon with cool egg moves (like my Ninetales with hypnosis), or learning which pokemon in a certain area gives off the most EXP so I don't have to spend years training my new teammates.

It is cheating. It's to a degree boosting, or exploiting. 99.9% of people don't want to bother to do it, or just want to play the game the way it is. You start modding games, and getting the inside scoop on them, and it makes it unfair. It's why I honestly only play video games with friends anymore.

It's really only cheating if the modding is being used in a competitive way. To get some high score or beat other players, that would be cheating. Modding games for fun is an entirely different thing. Some people like to do it just to test with code, some of them like adding in new content, some people do it for practice. I'd be a lot of these people become programmers and go onto make games of their own, or make some super cool project for games they love.

And some people just really like knowing numbers, chances, and details like that. For them that's fun. It's not hurting anyone, they don't force others to play the game that way. The people who like that info will get it, the people who don't care about that kinda thing will continue to play their games the normal way.
