There was a mod for the original Isaac called the Community Remix. A bunch of fans of the game got together and started doing new art, music, and programming to add more things to the game. They posted it to the sub-reddit and let people play it. Letting them give feedback and comments on what they might like to see, and chip in their own ideas for the mod.

 

 It was a big project done by a community for fun, for a game they love. The original Isaac had stopped development long ago, and they wanted something to do while waiting for Rebirth. Is there something wrong with this? Because I can't see any problem with it. The people who worked on it are even planning something similar for Rebirth once it's finished too. It's fun. It's like a fan-animation for MLP, a project made by fans to show their love for something.

Hey Snapp!

 

 You keep thinking of it as just the cheating kind though. You had a bad experience with people who used modding to cheat, but that doesn't mean you should discard all modding as something bad and wrong. What if the game they are modding is single player only? Or it's not used in any way to cheat, just to add new content? 

 

It's unfair to label all of something as bad, just because some of it can be.

That is more than a fair point. You want to talk about all this expansion that can be done with video games, talk about the effect it has on people. Talk about the increased obesity and diabetes, the emotional distress, the behavioral changes, and in general, the end of common values and beliefs.

This kind of argument can be applied to anything. Books, TV, Movies, Food, Tabletop games, Drinks, Work, Sleep. "Think of all the bad stuff that can happen if you become obsessed and let your physical and mental health fail!" is a good argument for extreme cases where the person is actually becoming obsessed to that point, but not for people who just enjoy their hobbies/work/whatever.

 

 Anything can be bad when taken to the point of obsession. That doesn't make it automatically bad, even if it's something done often.

Fine then, have this opinion. I strongly disagree with most of what you've said, and find it frustrating to some extent you won't listen, but that's how life goes.

You seem to think though that people who do that, ONLY do that and nothing else.

Yeah, being a hermit or being obsessed is a bad thing, no matter what you're doing. But you yourself said that you have things you do to entertain yourself. If that's how they entertain themselves, nothing wrong with that.

 

One person spends an hour watching a movie.

Another spends an hour modding a gave or whatever. What's the difference?

This is the last time I will say it: just play games the way they were intended. If something's programmed into the game, that's one thing. If you have to go above and beyond, and do something extra, go find something else to do.
