Subway jobs.

Subway. We all know the restraunt. As least, I hope. Anyways. I just wanted to ask your opinion as being an or was an employee there.

Well, my boyfriend just recently got a job there. He needed one. Its a job. Money. Yeah, etc. Well, he told me he HATES IT. No, not making the sandwich part. Not being on your feet a lot. Not having to talk to people. The HOURS. Okay, he is on part time. Still in school. The manager is just...being ridiculous and trying to make him come in everyday. Work so much hours. Yes, he is allowed to tell them that if it affects his schooling, than they can cut back. They even told him this. But, I dunno, maybe its just the manager here in my town. I mean, they are all different.

Okay, enough with my side. I just want to know. Have you worked there? Did you like it? No? Why didn't you like it? Why did you like it? Just explain I guess. I ran out of topics, and just decided to know someones opinion of the job and stuff. Like, also, would you recommend it?

Don't be shy :)

Isn't this pretty much working at a fast food joint in a nut shell theory?

Anyways, my cousin has told me he has worked there before, and mentioned that despite this being the least favorite job he had to work, he stated it wasn't the worst.

He has complained about the moronic people, slow work days that never end, and boredom at times.

If I were him, even if it sucks working, as long as I get paid, I'll stick to my wits and continue on.

I haven't personally worked in Subway, but I had a friend who did and I worked at tons of fast food places. From what I heard it is a lot like any other fast food restaurant and it will differ locally. To the point, it sucks, like a lot of fast food joints.

From what it sounds like he would enjoy working at a bank. Yes, there are jobs for teens at banks. My mother at 17 got a job at a bank punching in numbers and addresses on a comfortable chair.

It's going to be the same at a lot of franchise places for this reason.

You have a couple people at corporate with papers, math, and computers who dictate the lives of everybody in a district.  What they will do is say "You can only hire 1 full time person, have 1 manager, and 5 part time people."  Now between that they need to keep the place open for all those hours, staff the place with at least 2 people at all times, sometimes 3, and they will have set rules for how they can schedule.  It makes it a pain for the manager and the employees.  The BEST thing he can do is go up to the manager and say "I need to work no more than 20 hours a week because this is effecting my schooling."  Normally they will work around it, he will get 20-25 hours a week and be much better off, it will weigh on everybody else but this is what he has to do.

I had the opposite hours problem at Chick-fil-A, but that's beside the point.

My brother worked at Subway, and he disliked it as well. A friend worked there and absolutely HATED it.

So yeah... I like eating there but I wouldn't work there.

Having been in fast food as a manager (not subway), the application/interview process allows potential employees to decide how many hours they wish to work, whether they want full or part time status. If he was hired as part time, the manager cannot make him come in on a daily basis. He needed a job/money etc.. Did this person state they'd work anytime in their eagerness to be employed? If it were me, I'd remind the manager that I only wanted part time and that that was what I was hired for. Worst case scenario is going above the manager and contacting the human resources department if they are being unreasonable. Also, get familiar with labor laws and employees' rights.

  • 2 months later...

I worked at one for few weeks, well could not stand the lady I was working with... most of the time she never did her job and I was having to do it for her.. anyway.

Ah the pay is ok, hours were good, free lunch which is nice and a lot of the time you just make the damn thing your self so you know what's going on it. but over all it is a nice place to work a lot of the time, just got to make sure you don't get stuck with jerk stores... that well kill any job..
