Look at the way ponies treat zebras, and donkeys. I'm not surprised they don't care about non-equines.

The ponies didn't mistreat Zecora without good reason, as they were afraid of her because she was something mysterious to them. Once they got to know her, she seems to be treated just fine. A big difference between xenophobia and racism. And things like the talking farm animals being 'enslaved' can't be anything other than a silly joke made by the show writers, so I personally don't take it too seriously. Racism against mules and donkeys could potentially be brushed off as nothing too, like some people in the thread have already mentioned, but I'd rather not go into that myself.

 

In the end though, I personally think it's good to theorize or headcanon whatever you want for the sake of fun, but given the circumstances, it might be advisable to take some things in the actual show with a grain of salt, rather than immediately taking every little joke and tidbit the writers throw in seriously.

Your Human and You is an interesting idea, but I personally don't see it as anything more than a 'what if' alternate universe scenario that isn't necessarily an accurate portrayal of what the ponies would do in a situation like that. That does not in any way make the story a bad thing; quite the opposite since fanfics are meant to explore those what-ifs, but I wouldn't associate a premise like that with 'canon Equestria'. 

 

oh agreed. it's just nice to see a scene where the characters are literally telling him"you eat meat???" and looking horrified. it's much more straight up then what you'll see in hasbro's version.
