Blique 211 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 (edited) Edit: New pics yo! After many long hours...and many retries...and after breaking yesterday's record for staying up too late...Hurrah, Equestria Girls Twilight doll can now be beheld without cringing! Have a before and after. And those older close-ups with the weird bangs: Clothes were swiped from a Bratzillaz doll, Twilight looks so much better without make-up, and bangs y u no go down!? As for actual discussion content, does anyone know of other repaints? Considering all the pony repaints the community has done, I was expecting doll repaints within days of their release. I've been looking, but can't find any. The pony figure style is pretty much already perfectly canon, so most repaints only change colors or add accessories. The human dolls are completely off and are just begging to be repainted! So many possibilities, not just canon style! I wanna see really awesome human doll repaints. Thoughts? DITR 180 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 Dolls that aren't sexist, what is the world coming to!? But seriously, you were amazing. You can barely tell they're the same character.
notdog1996 315 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 I still hate her baby face but it's not like that can be changed with painting. Your work is really amazing. She's really better like this. LittleRawr 679 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 The new look is much preferred, but I think that her eyes are too small. But if you were aiming for a more realistic look, then bravo! I look forward to your future repaints :3 Signature by Azura
Hangman 320 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 I don't get it. I don't like it very much. Not that the work is bad by any means, I just don't get why you did what you did. The dolls are pretty terrible to begin with, I think the outfit you chose is ugly. I think the look on her face is awkward. That's just me though, it's your doll. Again, the work is really impressive.
Singe 2,111 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 The doll has too much forehead. It should be the opposite with minimum forhead. Your doll would make for an Equestria Girl/Child's Play movie. It has the distrubed creepy vibe to it.
TheSupremeLeaderOfChaos 1,211 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 I think this is much improved. I still don't like the dolls, and that amount of forehead still creeps me out, but other than that, I think I can look at it without doing a full cringe now! Signature made by- Kyoshi Make sense? Emerald Heart 24,957 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 This creeps me out, I like the original way better. The facial expression looks strange and the clothing is weird. Sorry, dude. 1 Big thanks to @The Wife of Hawks, @Trix or Treatand @Splasheefor these images!
Motion Spark 7,807 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 Don't get me wrong, but I do think that the original one still looks better, I can't see EQG Twilight in any of these 2 but props for making her look very different because she does! My OC's: Motion Spark || Beat Spark || Rosebelle Sorry, I don't take REQUESTS!
Blique 211 August 18, 2013 Author Share August 18, 2013 Thanks! I personally see Twilight as 10 or so appearance-wise...not sure why. Thus I was applying the cute type facial structure: Also, when down, Twilight's bangs cover her entire forehead, stopping at the eyes, so I thought it's be reasonable to have her eyes not blocked by her bangs. Anyway, when working on my next one, I'll make her look more adult-like. I'll work hard to make it unanimously better than the original! My first and second attempts were movie style, but I didn't know how to paint smoothly enough at the time. My next attempt was more realistic, and my last attempt was just my usual eye-drawing style. Should I go for the movie style next time, or something else? I intended for this to be more of a discussion, but it's more like a personal craft thread now...should this be moved to the pony fan works section? Also, I discovered someone else's repaint! Source. I don't get it. I don't like it very much. Not that the work is bad by any means, I just don't get why you did what you did. The dolls are pretty terrible to begin with, I think the outfit you chose is ugly. I think the look on her face is awkward. That's just me though, it's your doll. Again, the work is really impressive. Could you expand in more detail on the clothes? I used them because I felt like they have a mix of royal and adventurous that fit Twilight, but I'm not actually much of a clothes person. I'd like to expand my knowledge in fashion sense. The expression was a loose attempt of this, minus the big smile, since symmetrical eye attempts didn't seem to be working out for me: I make digital art, traditional art, scarves, and crafts. http://mlpforums.com/topic/65309-bliques-ponies/
Hangman 320 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 The boots are ugly. The outfit itself makes her look sort of like an evil witch or something. Twilight is a dorky egghead, not some sort of evil enchantress who does evil dances. It just doesn't make me think "Twilight Sparkle." I do give you props for creativity though. Those dolls are pretty ugly to begin with IMO so you really didn't ruin it or anything.
~Silver Essence~ 2,625 August 18, 2013 Share August 18, 2013 Wow, what a dramatic change of pace. Gotta say, I do love the creativity on changing them, but I would love to see more of what you can do.
Blique 211 August 19, 2013 Author Share August 19, 2013 Good news, everyone! Since a lot of people didn't like the forehead thing going on, I updated the pics with her bangs properly in place. How's the difference? The boots are ugly. I can agree with you there. Sadly, I only had two choices...Those, or Twilight's fluorescent pink boots. They're nicely slim, but the color goes with nothing else she's wearing...I would've made her barefoot, but they didn't give her feet. Anyhow, thanks for the advice! Hangman 320 August 19, 2013 Share August 19, 2013 Hey not bad! Seein her without the clodhoppers all posed looks a lot better. Since you did such a good job on the eyes, maybe you could try painting the boots?
Blique 211 August 20, 2013 Author Share August 20, 2013 Really? Hmm...well, it's not like I have any use for the boots as they are now. I'll give it a shot! Looking closely, apparently these "boots" are actually socks and shoes...? I have two options then; paint socks on her, or keep pretending they're boots. My attempt at fashion sense says socks do not go with that outfit. So I tested out some color options for boots: The first one looks best to me, since her badge thing is lacking a matching color. Any naysays before I continue? I make digital art, traditional art, scarves, and crafts. http://mlpforums.com/topic/65309-bliques-ponies/
