Odd or Notable Quirks and Daily Rituals

Along with daily routine, do you have any odd things you do either because its your preference or personality, a necessity, superstition of whatever?

These seem odd and trivial but here are a few of mine:

- If I'm walking down a road and especially when there's notable gaps or cracks, I'll occasionally switch my feet and make my left foot lead instead of my right foot or vice a versa.

- When doing arm and shoulder reps my stronger arm tend to get much more reps than my weaker one, but I always do so in a set number the notables being:

42 - which I got as a "magic number" from reading Douglas Adam's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe

64 - which reminds me of the Nintendo 64, which I consider the most iconic video game innovation for 3D games.

100

- I tend to try and eat whatever I dislike the most 1st then hoard up and eat what I enjoy last during a meal.

- By that same token I try to get work out of the way ASAP then proceed to do something I particularly enjoy. I still procrastinate a lot nonetheless.

- I also hoard up food or save events and activities I can do and enjoy until I find a convenient and comfortable time for them. This has led on occasion to stale cookies I hoard and molding foods.

-When I am on my own I often do get bored to the point that I strike a conversation with myself. Often times I just want to talk to myself not because I'm bored. I don't consider this odd, but apparently many people do.

  • I always think about a strategy when I play a game that involves strategies, then I get distracted.

I procrastinate when it comes to writing essays.

I tend to always pet my cats even when they are annoyed.

I'm always bored when I play games that I like.

I drink a lot of beverages very fast, except slushies.

My most notable daily ritual is when I wake up, I always tell myself verbally out-loud, "Good morning." I'm not sure how this was started. I randomly started to do it one day.

  • I'm obsessed with drinking soda or some type of slushy
  • I chew ice constantly
  • I always spend AT LEAST 8 hours on the internet
  • I talk to myself or sit in total silence from time to time
  • When doing something, I tend to think of some way I could die (I don't want to die, but I have an obsession over thinking about it)
  • I tend to make "Pros and Cons" for different things
  • I tend to act different around certain people
  • Thanks to Death The Kid from Soul Eater, 8 is my favorite number simply because of how even it is
  • I try out different pitches in my voice
  • While laying down, I can stretch one of my legs all the way up in the air while remaining perfectly straight, I just like freaking my friend out with that one
  • I'm a bit OCD about cleaning, and if everything isn't perfectly organized, my body will literally feel like it's on fire until I do something about it
  • If something is so bad, I can feel my insides literally cringing and moving
  • When in school a couple of years back, I would buy an Icee at the school and then chugg it completely in front of my friends, one time my teeth started bleeding from it
  • I'm a calm person, but if something is severely bad, it can send me into a rage-filled state where I hate everyone and everything
  • I can't stand going outside because I either think people are judging me or there are bugs everywhere, it seems.
  • I can forget to eat sometimes...no I'm not joking. I went a day without eating until I remembered I'm supposed to eat.

We'd be here all day if I continued.

  • I can't let my food mix with different food on my plate (No peas in my mashed potatoes, thank you very much!)

I brush my teeth in the shower

I start sleeping by laying on my left side, then roll to my right side when I'm about to fall asleep

I have eaten the same lunch for eleven years in a row nearly every day (Ham sandwich, with various side dishes)

I don't ever drink soda of any kind. (Or coffee/tea for that matter)

I eat massive amounts of celery daily

I can't sleep unless I have soft music or a fan or some other form of white noise in the background

I procrastinate on EVERY school assignment

I have a bad habit of not finishing things that I sta-

Wow, where do I begin.....

  • Whenever I blink with either my left or right eye, I have this extreme urge to blink with the other, to "balance" the two
  • I forget that I'm supposed to eat. I only remember once I get so hungry that I'm starting to get dizzy
  • Whenever I listen to music while sitting, I tap my foot at an inhuman pace
  • Whenever I listen to music while in my house and when I'm not sitting, I aimlessly walk around my home
  • If it's sunny outside, I can't help but stare directly at the sun at least once. I hate this habit...
  • When my glasses kind of slides down, I always reposition it by jerking up my nose. It's difficult to explain, but it looks weird. A lot of people have noted that as well
  • I always do my german homework ten minutes before starting my german lesson. What makes this odd is that german is the only subject I do this
  • If I haven't listened to any good music in the past few hours or so, I get extremely anxious and I make excuses if I'm in a social gathering just so I can go and listen to something for a minute or two. I guess you can call me addicted to music
  • If I'm listening to music on my phone in the middle of the night on my bed, I keep switching song every 10 seconds or so. This doesn't happen TOO often, but it does if I'm extremely bored
  • I have a tendency to clean my glasses with my shirt about every minute or something (not literally)
  • EDIT: I also sometimes feel the extreme urge to blink really hard. So hard, that my eyes hurt afterwards

That's it for now

* I have a habit of procrastinating, especially for school assignments

* I like to sit with my ankle crossed over my knee

* I usually eat really quickly

* I talk to myself often

* I almost always wear my hair in a ponytail (I'm female, by the way)

* I chew a lot of gum

* I tend to lift my left foot first when I go up the stairs

That's all I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure there's a lot more.

I use to smoke, but i quit. but that was a daily habit for a while. Wake up have a square. Another ritual i have in the morning is Situps and Pushups i dont know why but i always do that. I also run quite frequently. Unless it's winter i stop running in the winter  because winter's are bad in Chicago.

When i am stood, i find it hard to stay still so i start slowly swaying, eventually this progresses into hopping from foot to foot, if i've been stood for a while you'll see me practically dancing.

I nearly always mime a song when i listen to it, when there is nobody around i put immense effort into it, as if i were performing. When nobody at all is around, like when i'm home alone, i actually will be found singing whatever i am listening to.

When someone is walking with me, they must always walk on my left side, if i am walking with a group, there must always be at least one person on my left, i believe this could be something to do with my left side being my weaker side and my right being my dominant, therefore i feel less protected on my left.. or something like that anyway :P

OCD territory here:

I've never been diagnosed with OCD, but my mother thinks i may have it for multiple reasons, including the following:

When i use a toilet, i wipe it all down first, even at home.

I have literally no idea why i do this, i just do, i feel very uncomfortable if i am forced into not being able to for whatever reason.

When i use taps, i clean the taps both before and after using them

My logic in this is that when you go to the toilet, you have dirty hand that you place on the tap to turn it on which transfers germs, you then wash your hands under the water and proceed to then turn off the now germ infested tap, which picks the germs back up again.

I never mix food, this is a strange one to describe so i shall try this example - When eating a Sunday Dinner (Vegetables, meat, mashed potato etc.) I will NEVER scoop up some vegetables and mashed potato on the same fork, i eat each part separately.

I eat in a pattern - I eat from the left to the right and always in the same pattern for each specific meal, for example, the previously mentioned Sunday Dinner, i always eat in the order of: Meat, Yorkshire Pudding, Vegetable, mashed potato. I have never eaten it in a different order to that, and i doubt i will.

^ I'm a rather strange person
