New aspects that I will introduce to the newly aquired series is to make sure that it doesn't go girly and stereotype again like in previous generations by contacting other brilliant writers that can be just as great as the current ones.

 

One new formula would be to add humans into the mix like G1, that would seem great if done right, as it would bring a new element of bonding towards the show that the previous one could've done.

 

Overall, I'll make sure the legacy and brilliance of G4 lives on towards G5 and future generations.

I will put ALOT of mythology and Equestria's history in it. Because I really love this... Also more character developpement.

But I will keep all the same characters, maybe change the intro.

I would honestly switch the animation style to anime. But I would also switch out the mane 6 with elements.

 

Here's what I mean:

 

Twilight (Magic) - Extremely intelligent and loves being alone. She enjoys styling her hair as well and is pretty concerned over how she looks.

 

Adena (Fire) - She always seems to be pretty exhausted no matter what but still fights to the best of her ability. She’s really stubborn, hates losing, and can be a bit rude from time to time.

 

Hydra (Water) - The pretty calm type, but can overreact over little things. She tends to be the most loved friendship-wise.

 

Zap (Electricity) - A hyper type of character. She’s always willing to cheer people up but will try to be quiet from time to time. She’s a child at heart.

 

Senka (Darkness) - A bit dark or morbid from time to time but means well. She tends to keep to herself and can be a bit sarcastic. 

 

Aisu (Ice) - A relaxed type character that seems level-headed about everything. She’s not one to take sides and prefers being in a quiet room over a loud one. 

 

Or it could just work as a regular anime overall. I have always had a deep fascination with elements, so I would love to work with that.

 

I would make a new and improved intro and give some more advanced technology.

1. Make origin episodes to explain more of a character's backstory, to give the audience a better understanding of the character.

 

2. Add more technology to the ponies, I know it sounds stupid but I want to add something modern to the show.

The animation style would be the same with a few improvements. Probably more pony races and more appearences ot the other non-pony races too.

 

Hmmm...Humans could be interesting too but i would rather keep them as legends like we have about of unicorns and pegasi. Something in the way of former allies and ancient protector.

MLP is unique in it's own respect because it gives the audience the information that is vital to the show, and leaves everything else open to interpretation (within reasonable boundaries). The very fact that they didn't bore us to death with a full history was the single best thing they could have done for the show.

To put it a different way: who here would actually like to see a full genealogy for the Mane Six, or a full family/blood relative list for the royal family?

If I'm to guess correctly, I think most of you would pounce on that opportunity the second it appears - but I would ask you to pause and consider the ramifications of doing such.

If the writers were suddenly to hand you all of the conceptual ideas behind Equestria, including histories, locations, naming conventions, etc., it could - no, it most certainly would - gash a huge wound the virutally infinite sea of creativity that this community has produced. Would people keep writing works of fiction? Of course they would. But would we, the readers, ever be able to see it the same way? I doubt it.

Knowing the truth makes the luster of the fantastic fade a ever so slightly.

Luckily for us, such a thing is a near impossibility. I once asked one of the writers whether Equestria was a country or if it was a planet, as it was a relatively popular topic of debate a year or so back. To paraphrase her response, she replied that Equestria was labeled as neither country *or* planet - it was left open to interpretation for the sake of creativity, because "...whether it [Equestria] is a land sitting in a sea or a planet in and of itself, it is it's own 'world.'"


So would I personally change anything? That depends on how the course of this season goes. The characters are relatable enough to make them seem like good friends, yet the world is so vastly different that it draws us in. Perhaps it's the two unique facets on that dual sided coin that made it such a success.

I'm not sure if I'd be ready to change those dynamics quite yet.

If that's what the show was really like, I wouldn't even be here, to be completely honest.

1. Less songs, (I like some songs, but like most other cartoons, they sometimes get completely unnecessary) more jokes, add more male ponies, (I can't be the only one who hates these male stereotypes in the show) add more adventures, make episodes of background characters, and make origin episodes.

 

2. If the show is mainly about lots of other species as well as ponies, I would make them anthro. I'm not a furry, even though I really like the concept of anthropomorphic animals. However, if it is centered almost entirely around ponies, would it be possible to make them partially anthro?

What I am going to do is take what made G4 successful being the good story telling, the relatable characters where it seems like there is a pony for nearly everyone and the good non preachy lessons and give my own fresh take on it. Everything can't be exactly the same of course as it would start to get stale, a couple of things I would do different is add some more stallions and do the occasional background pony/secondary character episode. And I try to put Derpy in it if not than a pony similar to Derpy and have at least one episode about her and of course maybe a few background appearances.

I think you're mistaking a spin off or continuation with a generation.  A generation disregards previous continuity and starts a new one.  Friendship is Magic will have no effect on the continuity of G5.  Obviously the quality of the writing and characters will, as Hasbro will want to keep that level of quality.

 

First of all, I think switching animation styles would be a bad idea.  Flash is working out great for the animators and Hasbro.  However, a change in style would help differentiate G5 from G4.  Something that requires discussion.

 

As for plot and characters, I'd go for a more serious show.  Have it be more adventure-based, but still keep the focus on teamwork and such.  I'd also add in more male protagonists, as the male audience of MLP has grown because of G4.
