The beautiful town of Silvermaple seemed to be gleaming in the morning sun. The pokemon, as usual, were conversing and playing with one another. Every now and again, a traveller would wander by. They would be greeted with open arms, wings paws, and the alike. Particularly from the owner of the only hotel in town, Mawile. When no travellers could be seen, Kecleon, who owned the general store, would give away free berries to the local pokemon. Silvermaple was certainly a happy place, much like everywhere else.

Silvermaple had always been a small town. Not that anyone minded. There had been plans to enlarge the town, if only slightly, for a long time. Finally, that was being put into action. Cutting down the maples, a small meadow was made. But, then the workers noticed something. There appeared to be a small cave in the mountain that the meadow stopped at. But not just any cave... It looked like a Labyrinth. Two pokemon, decided to go and explore said labyrinth. After that, no one knows what happened. All they no, is that a sudden wave of hate and distrust spread through the town like wildfire. Perhaps it even spread through the entire world?

This wave seemed to affect some more then others. Though, no pokemon seemed like they wanted to play with the other pokemon anymore. And any happy attitudes, towards what seemed like anything, were completely untolerated. Even more oddly, the two pokemon who entered the labyrinth seemed to not be affected. They remained as cheery as ever. This bothered the townspeople so much, they asked the two to leave the town. When the two refused, the townspeople sentenced them to living in the meadow, just built.

The labyrinths continued to grow in numbers. Soon, they were coined to be called Mystery Dungeons, as no one knew exactly how they worked. Many groups of pokemon tried to help others who were lost in said dungeons, but most of said groups only did this for personal gain. Regardless, pokemon only seemed to grow more and more cold as the days passed by. And only a handful of pokemon wanted to know why.

*Present day*

In the meadow, just beside the radiant town of Silvermaple, a small, blue pokemon bounced around happily. And another, much bigger blue pokemon simply stood. To most anyone who could see them would know something would have to be happening soon. The larger one, seemed to follow the smaller one with his eyes, cautiously. Every now and again, the small one would shout his name, Altaria, and ramble off on whatever her mind decided to conjure. She was lucky. Altaria would have not agreed to such a dumb idea as the one she was so excited about, if it weren't for him caring about the little pokemon so much.

Alas, Altaria was beginning to regret the day he accepted the small one's request. What if they were attacked? What if a dark type or ghost type showed up? Maybe even an ice type? The last thought made Altaria shiver. The small one stopped, finally noticing Altaria's nervousness. She merely laughed at him.

"Come on, 'Taria! You can't be scared of a few pokemon nice enough to want to help others!"

It seemed like the grass type could read Altaria's mind. The dragon said nothing, a bit annoyed by her sarcastic tone. He thought about shutting her up, somehow. Simply singing to put her to sleep would do the job nicely... But he wasn't a mean pokemon, in any regard. After some silence, he spoke, in the calmest voice he could possibly muster.

"I'm not scared, Oddish. I'm just thinking."

"About what?Oddish questioned. When she received no reply, in the few seconds her attention span would offer her, she continued her bouncing and rambling. The dragon remained quiet. There was not much he could do at this point, but wait.

Riolu sighed as she walked through the town. She had arrived a few minutes ago, and she wasn't exactly having the best of luck. The young pokemon then noticed two others in a small medow, before walking towards them. "I'm assuming that you two are the ones that went into the dungeon?" She asked.

Zorua was walking throu the forest when he noticed a group of three other pokemon in a clearing. He smiled and snuck through the grass towards the group. "I might as well see if I can make a few friends." He thought to himself, before popping up behind behind Riolu. "Hey. My name is Zorua."

Altaria, who had been watching the Oddish closely, was surprised by the sudden intruder. Not terribly surprised, but still surprised. Their question was what bothered him. He didn't even know what exactly he meant. Hopefully this was one of Oddish's supposed adventurers.

Oddish was the first one to react to the pokemon. She was slightly confused by the question as well. "Uhm. I'm not sure what you mean... You don't happen to be here because you got a letter, did you?"  She asked, excitedly running up to the pokemon and began jumping in the spot.

Altaria froze upon seeing something pop up behind the other pokemon. It spoke, and it certainly didn't seem threatening. But... still. It just snuck up on them and... it was a dark type. And dark types always meant trouble.

Oddish, who was much more accepting then the dragon, began to hop around the two. "Oh! Hi there Zorua! Are you here to join Paradise too...?"

The Riolu shrugged and glanced at the oddish. "I actually did receive a letter." She said, before pulling out a slip of paper."By the way, my name is Riolu." The young pokemon  then noticed Zorua and tilted her head. She actually didn't mind the dark type next to her.

"Well it's nice to meet you, Riolu!" Oddish said, extending one of the leaves on her head to the Riolu's hand. Altaria bowed slightly.

Oddish refrained the leaf from Riolu's hand before she even had time to react, and began bouncing around again. "Well, we just sent the letter to Happi. So I dunno! I hope a lot, but some might not reply. Which is too bad, really. The more friends the better, if you ask me!" Altaria nodded.  "I believe there should at least be a few more pokemon. Perhaps some might be in town."

*Meanwhile*

A rowdy group of pokemon lingered outside of Kecleon shop. They spoke loudly, much to the annoyment of the townspeople. The only reason they were allowed around, was because they were the most reliable rescue team. Consisting of a Bagon, Poochyena, and Timburr, the three had saved countless pokemon from those dreadful Mystery Dungeons. But... they seemed to mostly help out for profit.

A Leavanny and Scizor, casually talking to each other, regarded them with distaste.

"Do we really need such loud pokemon in this town? Can't we kick them out like we did the others?" The Leavanny whispered

"Probably. But they don't live here. They just come here to annoy us and get their sweet attention they need oh so much." Scizor whispered back, in a sarcastic tone.

The Bagon, the leader of the group, seemed to be upset about something. What it was was certainly unclear, but he was voicing his annoyance loudly.

Riolu nodded slightly. "There's a town not to far from here." She said. "The other pokemon should be there. It seems like a good start. Come on." Riolu then began to walk in the direction of said town. "We could also buy supplies there, which we'll need for any exploration."

After wandering around for a while, Gastly thought that she had found the place, as several Pokemon were gathered around, but she was a mixture of anxious and unsure about approaching,

Gastly was about to approach the group, when a mischievous idea came to her mind. She saw Altaria and thought that they looked nervous, or maybe Gastly was imaging things because she just felt like scaring someone, it didn't matter too terribly much in her mind.

'Might as well." Gastly thought to herself, before going behind Altaria and mustering the most ominous voice she could, after all, she might as well have a little fun scaring someone.

"Who dares disturb me?" Gastly said in a rough and angry-sounding way. Gastly could barely keep a straight face while saying this, it was perhaps one of her favorite ways to startle a Pokemon who doesn't see her coming.

"Gawsh 'Taria. Calm down. It's just a Gha---" Before Oddish could finish her sentence, though, Altaria fired a powerful Dragon Breath at the Ghastly, only missing it slightly, and hitting the ground in front of it instead.

After walking for a little while, Growlithe noticed a small group of other pokemon nearby. He was afraid to go near them, but he was going to try anyway. What's the worst that could happen? It's not like they're going to do anything to me... He thought to reassure himself. He started walking slowly towards the group, still not really wanting to go near them.

"Wow, wow, calm down, I was only kidding." Gastly says, realizing that maybe it wasn't the best idea to startle a way more powerful Pokemon like that.

"My name is Gastly, I received the letter and was interested in joining the group." Gastly exclaims, showing the letter that she had received earlier.

Mareep trotted around the town nervously. He didn't really like talking to pokemon he didn't know, but he also wanted to join a team of sorts, and the latter want prevailed. But he couldn't find this "Oddish" that set the letter. He finally sighed in relief when he saw a group of pokemon, one of them being an Oddish. He walked over awkwardly and nervously. "Um... Did you send the letter?" he asked the Oddish quietly.

Altaria gasped quietly, suddenly remembering he was meant to be a "noble" dragon. He quickly landed and bowed, as to not look directly at the Gastly. "My apologies..." He began. "As far as the 'group' goes, you have come to the right place." Altaria did his best to not mutter the last words. He did not want such a scary pokemon around him all the time.

Oddish rolled her eyes. Altaria had only been so paranoid somewhat recently... It was starting to worry her.

Thing is, Mareep wool is sooo much more comfy then Altaria's fluffy feathers. "Yes! I did!" Oddish said bluntly, but with the same amount of excitement as before.

@,

Mareep blushed ferociously as the oddish bounced into his wool. "Oh... okay... I-I'm Mareep..."  Mareep mentally sighed as he realized he was mumbling and wasn't doing well in the situation. He didn't enjoy talking to pokemon he was acquainted with, and this oddish was no exception. But there was no way he would back out now. After all, he had been so... warmly welcomed.

Growlithe felt the ground shake, and turned to run. "No! I've got to face my fears!" He said, then continued to walk forward. "And besides... What's the worst that could happen..." He said to himself. It only resulted in him thinking of all the bad things that could happen. "Okay, lot's of bad things could, happen... But I'm going to do this." He said. Once he reached the group, he kept some distance but asked, "W-what j-just happened?"

The question was, what was he to say? "I'm afraid I confused this Ghastly here for a dangerous wild pokemon from one of the Mystery Dungeons. You need not worry yourself, though." Altaria said, in the calmest voice he could muster. Surely he was sounding a bit over the top when it came to his nobleness right now... but he couldn't help it.

The dark pokemon honestly wanted to know everyone in the small group, seeing as he they would probably be spending quite a bit of time together.

Gastly's face showed a mixture of confusion and shock. But then she regained composure and talked to Altaria.

"I get that all the time. Perhaps it was my fault for sneaking up on you like that. I can imagine that could make you jumpy." Gastly said, in an apologetic voice.

Gastly then turned to face the Growlithe that had approached.

"What happened was nothing too serious, don't worry about it." Gastly said reassuringly.

Well, this Gastly certainly doesn't sound tooo harmful. That's good, at least. Altaria thought. If there was no other scary pokemon, this might be ok. Might.

Riolu sighed as she watched the group. "So, is everyone here?" She asked. She didn't exactly mind the pokemon, but the ghost type scared her a little. "If so, then we should probably plan for what we're going to do next. It'll take a while to get to Paradise." The young pokemon then smiled slightly.

Oddish giggled, turning to the Riolu and away from Mareep. "I dunno! But I think so, so maybe we should. Or sometime soon. We'd have to make the teams first, though!"

((Yea. They've been a bit buggy lately.))

Altaria turned his head to the Aron, and rolled his eyes slightly. His accent sounded a lot like the lead member of Team Hurricane. And the day he liked Team Hurricane, or approved of their reasons for helping pokemon would be the day the hatred in the world finally got to him. Instead of letting himself be pushed around by such a little pokemon, though. Infact, he would treat it with the exact same respect he treated the scary Gastly with. "I'm afraid I am none of those things. But I used to be this town's protector... If you wish to know." Altaria said, bowing slightly.

Oddish, seemed to not pick up on the rudeness in the Aron's voice. She bounced over to him casually. "What makes you say that?" Oddish asked, seemingly confused. Not that confusing her was severely hard to do...

Growlithe backed up when Aron started talking. "I-I think I'm g-gonna go now..." He said, stuttering occasionally. I knew it! I knew this was going to end with them not liking me... I mean, Altaria and Ghastly seemed nice and all, but the others... I don't know. He thought.

"I-I'm Growlithe..." Growlithe said, still nervous because of what happened with Aron. Well, that's another one who doesn't hate me... Getting better. He thought. He was still worried about a few pokemon, but at that point at least three of them were okay with him.

None of the pokemon, excluding Zorua, seemed to notice Growlithe. But, before he had the chance to leave, three pokemon appeared before the group. Consisting of a Bagon, Poochyena, and Timburr, the Bagon taking the lead of the group. He laughed. "Oi! Lookie who finally made a team! Da Oddish and da 'Wanna-be' dragon!" He spat out. The Poochyena laughed as well. "What? They gunna house all des guys in a tiny shack like that?" The Timburr rolled it's eyes at the other two casually. They didn't seem to notice.

Oddish rolled her eyes at the group. Altaria did the same, with almost the exact same timing. "It's not wise to pick fights with those you are clearly outnumbered by, Hurricane." He said, calmly.

Growlithe jumped and hid behind Altaria when he heard the two pokemon. He always thought it was best to hide behind the most powerful pokemon he was sure he could trust. Well, looks like I should probably trust Altaria and the others then... They'll be able to help me. He thought.
