Goldseek sat up, and started walking towards the carriages. He would have preferred to know who he was working for, or even what he was looking for, especially since he was risking his life for it, but the mention of a payment was enough to keep him on this mission. Besides, his curiosity wouldn't allow for him to not find out what this artefact is.

Silver Heart got up from the table and joined the others that were heading towards the carriages. For the for time since she had entered the Inn Solver Heart looked at the other adventurers. The first two to immediately stand out were the Naga and bat-pony. Even most of the more regular species would stand out in a crowd.

With the colt’s acceptation into the group, Spellbound beamed a grin at him as he trotted to a seat among what looks like the rest of the group, choosing not to introduce himself. Spellbound kept to himself. His hat shrouded his face in darkness, only faintly showing the lower have of his muzzle. Because of his oversized hat, he had to keep a bit of a distance from the other ponies to avoid hitting them with the brim. Spellbound sat I silence, looking in Gallant’s direction, listening to his words and watching as ponies join the group.

“Interesting group, we’ve gone Unicorns and an Earth pony. As well as a Naga, a Thestral and a griffin, they are some reading material in the library; I should probably re-read some of them.” Spellbound thought to himself, not speaking at loud because he is away ponies are around him.

When Gallant asked if any pony had a question, there was a moment of silence until the Naga raised her hoof and the question that may have been in the other ponies’ minds. The Naga had a bit of an attitude in Spellbound’s mind. The Naga also proposed that everypony should do an introduction, Spellbound wasn’t too fond of this proposal, during which she introduced herself as Violet. However, Gallant soon disbursed the introduction session to hurry things along.

Trotting to the carriages arranged by Gallant, Spellbound raised his hat slightly to peer at the contents inside of it, after all he did just finish work and spontaneous about joining this group. All he had in his hat were a couple of papers, a paper clip, a pencil and a small notebook; it was obvious to Spellbound that he was ill-prepared.

“Hahah… no matter, Spellbound… you can transmute the materials you need, and craft items you require, right?… I think I read a book titled ‘Survival: Magic Edition’, that could help me… if I had the book on me…” Spellbound thought to himself, worrying about what little supplies he had.

"Well that's certainly interesting to note" Discharge muttered as a chunk of the ponies in the group started heading outside.

He himself turned and headed the other way, into a back room with a "no entrance" sign on the door. A few moments later and he was on his way back out with a collection of saddle bags, flung rather awkwardly over his back and a couple dangling from his mouth, even one over his muzzle.

Making his own way out of the inn to the two carriages, he did a quick head-count of the ponies to the carriages. 10 ponies - 2 carriages. One spare seat in each, well that's good enough. He stretched his left wing out, carefully edging out his right before he took to the sky above the carriages, dumping the saddlebags down on top and dividing them roughly equally over the two, before strapping them down and jumping to the floor himself.

"Got a couple supplies if anypony needs any, i'll give 'em out when we git where we're goin'." There was little to no need for formalities anymore, he'd introduced himself and told them what they needed to know as far as he was concerned.

Blitz Blaze raised an eyebrow seeing Gallant carrying all the saddlebags. Was the pegasus expecting the trip to take longer than a month? Blitz shrugged. If things gone to the worse, he had more than enough means to survive. He looked back and noted that most of the group had left the inn, that would mean it was indeed time to leave the Canterlot to the wilderness beyond. Without any word he climbed to the carriage on the back and made himself comfortable on one of the seat.

Aquila had maintained silence throughout what little formalities took place. He didn't voice it, but his main reason for coming was really nothing more than to sate his wanderlust. He didn't fully care about the payment, though to be honest, it would be nice.

The Thestral hitched his sword a little higher up on his side. The weapon was designed for use while he was in flying, or at least hovering, the hilt slipping around and strapping down around his hoof.

Following the rest of the group out of the inn, taking to the air as soon as he was clear of the door, hovering a few feet off the ground as he made his way towards the carriages with the rest of the crew. Gallant, the expedition leader, had abolished introductions back when Violet had suggested it. Probably eager to get underway, now he had his crew. Aquila grimaced slightly. The only two he'd met were the Captain and Violet, and partially Gallant. He figured if he was going to work with this crew for the duration of this expedition, he'd have to learn their names before long. Shouldn't be to hard. Carriages weren't exactly the most spacious of objects.

Violet followed the group out to the carriages, still looking rather unhappy.
When she slithered out the door and saw the carriages she let out a small sigh before hoisting herself up into the closest one and sitting down next to a blue unicorn (Blitz), before curling her tail into a spiral on the floor in front of her so it wouldn't be in the way. She pulled off her bag and placed it on top of her tail before searching through for a canteen.
After finding her water, she leaned back in her chair and took a sip, looking at the carriage around her...still looking quite unamused.

@@Starshine,@,

At first, The Captain listened intently to Gallant, but round about the time the stallion began arguing with the Naga, Violet, she began to shift impatiently from hindpaw to hindpaw, tail flicking again. Bored, she took to examining the surrounding ponies - the sight of a mare with a hat even bigger than her own made her chuckle slightly, though not loud enough for anyone to have likely heard.

The way Gallant kept saying "everypony" irritated her. Oh sure, just ignore the bloody eagle-lion hybrid predator with the crossbow and the machete, little ponies...

Snapping out of her thoughts with some surprise, The Captain realised that most of the party had already left for the carriages.

Guess the conversation's over then. Shrugging, The Captain followed the ponies and other creatures - who, frankly, she pretty much considered to be just more ponies - out of the inn and, taking at once to the air, glided towards the nearest carriage.

Shame - I was only in Canterlot for, what, a few days? I would've liked to have seen more of it.

Hopping into the carriage - a little cramp for a full grown griffon perhaps, but big enough for a smaller adolescent like The Captain - she noticed at once that she was sharing with Violet and a unicorn stallion. She reached out with a talon, offering the pony a grin.

"Wotcha'!"

Gallant approached the carriage at the front of the two, nudging the pony on the front to get his attention.

"This'll take us as far as the mount'n range, 'ight?" Gallant asked, producing a small purse of bits.

"Should do cap'n" the carriage driver nodded, seeing the weighty purse.

"Good, we'll make our own way back, so don't wait fer us."

The driver nodded, turning to his partner and starting to mumble something incoherent. Gallant looked into the unoccupied carriage, and then over to the one the group seemed to be gathering at. "A'ight...good enough" he mumbled, casting a glance to the rest of the group and ruffling his wings slightly. "Carriages'll take us as far as Frostsaddle" he called out "From there, we move on hoof 'er tail, 'n make our way up the mountain to our prize. Easy as that..." 'If only things where so simple' he thought afterwards, walking around the carriage and hopping into the far side.

Aquila had been hovering outside of the carriages, simply watching his companions as they went about and entered the carriages slowly. There were four unicorns, a Pegasus - who he learned was Gallant, their expedition leader - an Earth Pony, and then himself - a Thestral, Violet - a Naga, and The Captain - a Griffon.

This certainly was an interesting crew to have along. He spied the Captain and Violet climbing into on carriage alongside the older unicorn. Aquila figured he may as well stick with the other 'non-ponies', just for the sake of... well, there wasn't really any specific reason other than he already knew their names, and were the only ones he'd really acquainted with. There'd be plenty of time to meet the others in time. Plus, he recalled Violet had been talking about her history when the meeting seemed to have really began. He was still curious to hear the rest of that.

Aquila landed lightly outside of the carriage, before entering himself, sitting in the first open seat closest the door. He watched the others in the carriage in silence, simply observing them for the time being.

@@Ano170,

Blitz Blaze stared at the offered claw with barely veiled disgust. Who was this griffon and what kind of ideas were swirling in its mind? The snakepony and the batpony were still tolerable, but griffons are another thing entirely. The idea of sharing the ride with such a creature was revolting in its own right, but now it actually had enough death wish to offer a claw to him. With a grunt he made an apparition of a claw made of his magic and accepted the clawshake. "Blitz Blaze," he briefly introduced himself and dispersed the apparition away.

Now he couldn't wait for Gallant just to start moving. The sooner, the better.

Spellbound continued trotting towards carrages, looking calm and collected. However, deep inside, he was frantic. No saddlebag, no supplies and more importantly no books… Spellbound wasn’t a big eater. He had the appetite the size of an up-tight upper-class pony, but without the quality; he isn’t picky. As he tried figuring out his dilemma, he arrived at the carriage. There were two carriages, one at the front and one at the back. By the looks of it, the other ponies were heading towards the rear carriage.

“Hmm… Looks like that carriage will be full. No point in heading to that one.” Spellbound thought to himself, turning his head towards the vacant carriage.

Spellbound made his way to the carriage, and hopped on. However, his hat hit the side of the carrage and fell off his head. Spellbound’s platinum blonde mane flowed out of the hat as it fell and hit the ground. Standing in the carriage, Spellbound shot quick gazed around to make sure no pony saw his mistake, and quickly picked up his hat with his magic and placed it on his head so people didn’t see his face, even if it was a bit dusty.

Spellbound sat at the far end of the carriage, dusking off the dirt from his hat. Spellbound thought to himself, “At least the contents in my hat did drop out, and I get a peaceful carriage. I wonder where we are going. Gallant said something about a relic… hmm…”

Spellbound did love lore, so the relic was of some interest to him. He wandered if he was allowed to research it once it is found.

Blitz Blaze barely reacted when the snakepony flashed her fangs, be it something done deliberately or not. His frown deepened when the she mentioned that bitting would be her job, not the griffon's. He sighed inwardly. Ended up surrounded by xenos in such a tight space, clearly the heavens were not smiling upon him that day. However despicable the current situation was, he knew that the nonponies would be very useful in the expedition. He would have to endure this for a bit longer. With a grunt he leaned back, crossed his forehooves in front of him, and closed his eyes for a nap. "Don't wake me up unless someone is on fire."

Still without having uttered a word, Lost approached the carriages. Without really thinking about it he boarded the less crowded of the two carriages, sitting down and waiting for them to be off, not really paying much attention to he else was in the carriage with him. They'd get to know each other soon enough one way or another, perhaps through words, but quite possibly through actions, if this mission was to be as dangerous as he suspected it would turn out to be.

@@@Alex Kennedy,

Gallant was tapping his hoof on the carriage door while he waited for the crew to assemble in their carriages. From what he had seen, the rear carriage was probably almost full - the naga, the griffon and the thestral, and the unicorn who had introduced himself as Blitz Blaze, had all entered the rear carriage "2 more seats and that one'll be full" he muttered to himself, before suddenly his own carriage bumped slightly, and the mare with the oversized hat seemed to be in some trouble. Before he could offer any help however, she was already in the carriage sat on the opposite side of him.

"Might have t' take off the bonnet, i'm afraid" he gestured to her hat with his head "Don't know 'f there'll be room for you an' that too." Just then, the unicorn stallion who was sat at the bar with his wine entered the carriage, causing Gallant to shift awkwardly to one side. "Trust y'all brought some equipment with ya? I don't see many bags from any o' the group."

Silver Heart looked between the two carriages and walked towards the lead carriage. The lead carriage had more room, which would hopefully mean having a bit more personal space. After taking a moment to mentally prepare herself to meet some new ponies Silver Heart climbed into the carriage sitting next to the stallion with the large hat., "Good evening everypony."

"B-bonnet?" Spellbound said in a confused tone, looking at Gallant's. "Do I look like a mare to you?" Spellbound continued, still looking at Gallant's Direction.

Spellbound didn't want to part with his hat, but he could see that the other ponies needed to get on. Spellbound did know a spell that could condense matter temporary up to three hours, the spell should be able to solve the issue.

"Sorry that this hat of mine is causing a disturbance." spellbound said, turning away from the pony. "But you don't need to handle my hat, I've got it. Just a moment..." He said, talking off his hat, removing the shroud of darkness from his face. Spellbound's Horn glowed a light blue colour and soon his hat was consumed by magic. Spellbound added a dash of focus, thinking of making the hat smaller and with a light poof of smoke, Spellbound's hat was small enough to hold in his hoof.

"I think that should do, don't you?" Spellbound said, still looking away from the pony.

Soon after other ponies began joining the carriage.

Aquila looked at Blitz for a few seconds as the Unicorn stallion leaned back, stating not to wake him unless something was burning. He didn't seem very comfortable in here.. Perhaps it was just an onslaught of so many new faces? He couldn't be sure. Aquila shrugged, and instead turned his attention back to Violet, recalling she'd been saying something about her past back in the tavern. He cleared his throat quietly before speaking, "Excuse me. If you don't mind my asking, Miss Violet, I apologize for not bringing this up sooner, but believe you were elaborating on your history back inside before this whole thing got off the ground," he gestured around the interior of the carriage slightly as he spoke, "I would like to hear the rest of it. Violet raised an eyebrow. "Uh...okay?" She said, cracking her neck before speaking. "I grew up in the forest...since...well, since forever. I don't remember anything of my parents and my guess is that they just lost me in the woods. Naga's...well...we start off as eggs...I know its weird, but allot of the time, parents can be killed before the eggs hatch. And that is one of the few normal pony things about raising snakeponies...you raise them apart from just letting them go. Anyway, I was a little different, I had to figure out the forest on my own...which I must say was difficult, but not impossible. When I was around...six...I discovered a town a little ways away from where I lived...of course I was fascinated by it and sat atop the hill...watching, for quite some time actually. By the time I had actually decided to explore the town, I had a minor understanding of English, so I went down and...looked around. Eventually I discovered books...I took a few and just kinda looked at the pictures at first but when I returned to the small library to take more...I was found by the librarian...no, not Twilight, this was many years ago so...it was a different pony. Anyway, she had read about Naga's and...over freaking out and kicking me out, she decided to teach me...everything. I stayed with her for many years, only leaving at night to return to my cave. I was about sixteen when I decided to leave the town and...see others...which is what I did. I heard about all the evil ponies in the stories and never knew they'd exist in real life...and I also wondered why no pony would stop them. So over the years I've...well...stopped bad ponies...and here I am." She said, shrugging. "That's about as detailed as I can tell it without boring you all two death." She smiled and reached into her bag, pulling out a canteen and taking a few sips before putting on the lid and stuffing it back into her bag.

@@00Pony,

The Captain frowned slightly at the lack of information - then again, it hadn't sounded like the batpony's life story was all that interesting anyway. With a slight sigh, she resigned herself to the fact that she should get the business of her own story out of the way; volunteering information she was comfortable giving before any of the ponies started asking questions.

"Not much to say for me, really," she commented casually, leaning back in the carriage, closing her eyes and folding her forelegs behind her head.

Bang.

The sound of a gunshot echoed in The Captain's mind. Behind her closed eyelids was the sight, replaying in her head like a burned-in after-image, of blood spraying across white walls. She could hear shouting, and screaming, and a pounding in her head as if the little locked box in the back of her mind were about to burst and all the awful sights and sounds and monsters would come spilling out...

But to the ponies, she simply chuckled. "Kind of a funny story really..."
