Bossycarl 0 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 What confuses me is they went to the human world. But, we don't usually see people with blue skin. This just doesn't make any sense. It should be at least more realistic. Although they did go through a magical mirror to another world so... Eh.
Scootalove 10,692 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 They had to make their skin colors match their coat colors from the show, but the designs don't always matter. Creativity usually isn't Hasbro's strong point, but they were at least trying. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Scootaloodle 1,623 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 (edited) Well Twilight did go to a human world but they never made it clear which one: it was never said that Twilight went to earth: and impo if in that universe they can have ponies with pastel coloured skin then I don't see why it can't apply in the human equvilant version of there world And 'realistic': well they are cartoons and lots of cartoon don't look realistic there often over exaturated Edited October 1, 2013 by Asherdangerdash
Jessper 735 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 That's what bugged you when thinking about realism? Additionally, was it supposed to be realistic in any shape or form? I would say nope. I'd say they just tried to make it very clear for people to see who is who.
Radiance64 7,059 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 Well the skin colors just match the ponies' coat colors really, plus similar properties they're trying to compete with like Monster High also seem to have characters with unusual skin colors so they were probably trying to emulate that as well. ~Silver Essence~ 2,625 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 It was based purely on their designs as ponies, sure it's weird, but then again, it's from their own universe. That, and because there might have been controversy if they were of different races....
DokiLoki 519 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 Well it is fantasy. I guess they weren't trying to relate to the world we live in right now. There are many users here who disapprove of the design so its not only you. 1 A True Friend sees the first tear, catches the second and stops the third I make GIF avatars for FREE. Chevette 1,052 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 I have a far out theory for this one, folks. Usually the typical response to a question of this caliber referring to the skin colors of the characters in the film; "Equestria Girls" is something like this: "So their skin colors match the coat colors of the ponies from the show." Well to that my friends I say what a load of HOOPLA! Obviously the reason is to destroy any chance of racial stereotypes. I mean, really folks. Just imagine if they made em' black, white, brown, yellow, silver, etc, etc. If they made em' all white it'd be racist. If they made em' all black it'd be racist. If they made em' all yellow it'd be racist. If they made em' all brown it'd be racist. It'd be racist if they made em' any race right? So that's why they look like crayons. Even if they made certain ones certain races, it'd would be conflicting and stereotypical. (example: they make Rainbow Dash black because she's athletic) See what I mean? It'd just piss people the fuck off. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. uml4mj4m 134 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 Hasbro Logic. There is the thing with the racism and stuff. Plus, everyone else in the movie has different skin colors. To them, it's normal.
Wingnut 7,020 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 (edited) I was a bit weirded out by the skin colors at first too. Of the Mane 6, Pinkie, AJ, Rarity, and Fluttershy are relatively close to humanly possible complexions. But Twilight and Rainbow Dash? No way! Dashie, especially, looked like an anime space alien. But then I remembered purple, blue, and pink aren't naturally found in our ponies either. So it's not that far fetched, all things considered.
