MLP Video Game

(Sorry if I tricked you into reading this if you thought there really was a video game)

 

I was doing some thinking about the attempt to make that mlp site awhile back, and thought "hey, they should make a video game instead!" You'd customize your own pony and pick a mane and all that, and they'd have cutie marks you could pick from or you could upload your own. Then the mane six and the princesses would have missions for you to do, and there'd be side missions from ponies like derpy or Mr and Mrs Cake. Then there would be mini games that only certain species could do (Ex.magic games for unicorns and flying games for pegasi). There'd also be an option for a big chat room where you could meet up with other players and make them your buddies, and any of your buddies could help you with missions or just hang around with you in Equestria. And you could talk through your headset to other ponies in the chat room and walk around and meet other ponies. And all the pegasi could fly/control weather and the unicorns can make spells/make things float. Pony powers could be... super speed? I'm not super sure about that...

 

Anyways, just putting this out there and curious what's everypony's opinion on this!

I dunno...as a gamer, the idea of an MLP game never sat well with me. I always thought it was better left as a cartoon, or to have artwork made of it, or music, etc. Just not a game.

 

There are reasons why it would or wouldn't work as a game, I'm not gonna bother going into detail or rebuking the idea entirely. It's definitely good food for thought.

I would love to see a (good) videogame of MLP-FIM.

The problem is that Hasbro is more likely to give the go for this idea to Equestria Girls.

 

Things like Legends of Equestria come from the fans only and Hasbro is going to bomb it as soon as it starts making more noise (if they haven't already). I guess (and wish I'm wrong) the best MLP-FIM is going to get is Gameloft's game...

Oddly enough, my first thought was pretty spot-on. I expected you to share a game idea that you had. The mods will probably move this thread to Creative Resources though.

 

Like Calirolls said, your idea sounds a lot like Legends of Equestria, but we don't even know if it's going to get finished eventually, or if it'll get shut down. I'm guessing several people have their own ideas for MLP games, maybe we could use this thread to brainstorm and throw ideas out in the open.

 

I stumbled on this nifty little software called Adventure Game Studio a while back, and it gave me the idea to make a point-and-click adventure game out of MLP FiM. I haven't really checked out what the features are and what kind of things one can do with AGS, but with enough time and patience I'm sure I could come up with something interesting. My biggest concern are the sprites, animation, sound effects and music, but as I said, I don't know what this software can do yet.

 

All this being said, I have absolutely zero knowledge or experience with programming and game design. I'm hoping to study these a bit some day so I can make my own indie games (god knows I have so many ideas).
