With a grin Lurele takes a place a short distance away, Poliwag standing in front of her.  Hmm, well, we have the type advantage here...  Better make good use of it!  With a grin she looks at Eric and gives him a thumbs up.  "I hope you're ready, because we're not gonna hold back!"

 

Turning her attention to her pokemon she cries out "Alright Poliwag, let's start this off right!  Use bubble!"  The tadpole pokemon chirped up in acknowledgement before firing a small stream of bubbles out of his mouth and towards Eric's larvesta.

Eric smiled confadently, and nodded. As Lurele called out to her pokemon to use bubble. Eric waited for the right time and called to larva.

 

"Dodge it!" Larvesta followed orders and jumped out of the way. "Now use string shot." Larvestia then shot webbing at the water type pokemon.

Gritting her teeth as the sticky webs hit Poliwag's feet, Lurele decides to change tactics.  "Poliwag, be careful!  Try to put it to sleep with Hypnosis!"  

 

The small tadpole pokemon squirmed in the webbing before pointing its swirling stomach at the Larvesta, Poliwag's eyes glowing with a soft blue light as it attempted to hypnotize Eric's pokemon.

Eric, was about to tell Larva to use ember, when Poliwag and used hypnosis. Eric kept his calm and called to Larvestia.

 

"It's alright Larva, just dont look at its tummy, close your eyes." But it was too late, Larvestia was in the trance. "Come on Larva fight it!" Eric called. But she only swayed back and forth, trapped by the attack.

With a wide grin Lurele pumps her fist before pointing at Larva.  "We've got 'em right where we want 'em now Poliwag - use bubble again!"  Puffing up confidently the little Poliwag fires another stream of bubbles at Larvesta.  Lurele held her breath waiting to see if it would hit this time - Poliwag couldn't dodge a counter attack very well with all of that webbing on his feet, after all!

Eric called to Larva to snap out of the trance, she did but before she could move, she was hit by bubble. Larvestia winced and cried in pain. 

 

"Are you alright larva?" Larvestia then shock off the attack and shock her head. "Great job, now use string shot again, then use Ember."

He said pointing at the Poliwag. Larvestia used another string shot, then used ember as she was told. She reared her head and fired a small assault of fireballs at the opposing pokemon.

"Poliwag, watch out!"  The little tadpole tried to stumble out of the way, and to the pokemon's credit it managed to avoid the webbing this time.  Unfortunately for Poliwag it wasn't able to dodge the barrage of ember attacks that followed it!  The little water type cried out as they hit him.  "Poliwag!?  Are you alright?"

 

Poliwag pushed itself back upright and let out a slightly strained chirp - thankfully the fire effects didn't seem to have too bad of a lasting damage.  "That's it Poliwag, I know you can do this!  Use Double Slap!"

Eric stood confident, and waited for the right moment just when the Poliwag and brought it's tail close to is body ready to hit Larva. 

 

"String shot!" Eric shouted. Larva emedently used her move trapping the the pokemon with its tail webbed to its body. "Now, use ember 3 times." Larva nodded again then did as told firing three attacks of Ember at poliwag.

Lurele gasped, crying out for her pokemon.  "Poliwag!!!"  As the barrage of tiny flames erupted from Larva's mouth, she quickly yelled "Poliwag, counter it with bubble!  Hurry!"  A blast of tiny bubbles flew from Poliwag's mouth, hitting the stream of tiny fireballs and sending a large column of steam into the air around the two little pokemon.  Lurele shades her eyes, trying to see what happened through the steam.  Did it hit?  Is Poliwag alright!?

Eric became nervious as steam covered up the battlefield. 

 

"Larva!" He called, he waited for the steam as it did he could see his pokemon panting heavly, he quickly ran up to her had rubbed her head.

 

"Larva, are you alright? If you want we can stop, just tell me and I'll let you rest." Larva shock her head with a smile. Eric slowly rose up and smiled at her. "Alright, give it your best." He walked back and gave room to the pokemon. "Lurele, is poliwag alright?" He called.

Lurele quickly ran onto the battlefield to check on Poliwag, patting the little pokemon's back.  Turning to Eric as he called to her, she gave him a thumbs up and a small smile.  "He's alright, I think that last hit was more flashy than effective, hehe..."  She glances from Poliwag to Larva, both little pokemon seeming to be panting heavily.

 

"It looks like both of them are strong enough to keep going...  But should we call this first match a draw?  It's my first battle, I really don't want to push Poliwag too hard.  I don't know his limits yet, and honestly neither does he."  Poliwag seemed to want to protest at that, but Lurele put a finger against the little tadpole's lips.  "Hush you, I know you want to try and win...  It's the first step on our journey though.  It won't do to have you get exhausted in a battle with one of our new friends, will it?"

Eric was releved to hear that Poliwag was okay. He then agreed with Lurele that the battle should end at a tie. Larvestia however did not like this and cried out in a protest. Eric knelt down, rubbing Larvas head."Hey, its alright, its only our first battle, you did your best and you where great." Eric picked up the bug pokemon, and hugged her." Im really proud of you" He then smiled at her and put her back into her pokeball, then stood up and called to his other friends.

Bethanne had just started her daily trek to the next town. She normally would have started much earlier, but due to how late she had stayed up the previous night, she overslept. As she walked, she began to search through her side satchel, trying to see if she had forgotten anything for the day. She saw the many ultra balls her parents had given her, shoved away into a tight corner, next to the plain pokéballs she had bought with her own money.

 

Bethanne always hated how her parents constantly tried to win her over with money. The only thing she was ever truly grateful for receiving from them was her egg. Speaking of which, her egg was in a separate, safe compartment, snug and warm. She stopped walking, and took the egg from its compartment, holding it out in front of her.  'I wonder what you could be. You've been starting to make a lot of noise lately. I hope you'll hatch soon.' She thought, examining the egg closely.

 

After a minute, she put the egg back into its pocket, and continued walking down the path. As she did, she looked at the sign. "Route 2 - Acai Town to ---" The sign had been defaced. The name of the next town wasn't visible. Soon after she continued down the route, she began to hear the sounds of a pokémon battle. She slightly quickened her pace, wanting to see what was going on. She kept going until a group of trainers emerged into her view. Two of them were consoling pokémon that seemed to have just been in a battle. She walked up to the group.

 

"Hi" she said. Short, simple, and slightly soft.

As Eric waited for his friends to announce where they would head next he could a sweet voice call from behind him. He turned to see a new trainer. He  smiled and brought a thumb to his chest.

 

"Hey I"m Eric." He greeted in a welcoming tone. He took a few steps towards her, reaching his hand out for a shake. "Nice to meet you."

As Eric stretched his hand and stepped forward, Bethanne took half a step back, hesitating slightly, then returned the gesture with a quick, yet sufficient, handshake. "Hello Eric. I'm Bethanne."

 

'They must all be trainers, but I don't remember so many teens in Acai. I guess my constant walking kept me from being too social.' She looked around the group, at the others that were there. Of course there was Eric, but there was also a boy with shaggy hair, a boy that appeared to have painting supplies hanging out of his pack, and a girl with long, red hair and green eyes. As her eyes fell on the girl, they also fell on the pokémon beside her.

 

"Oh! Your poliwag looks hurt!" Bethanne exclaimed, walking over to the two. Remembering the sounds she had heard earlier, she asked: "The pokémon battle I heard earlier, was it you?"

 

 

((( I had no idea when I made my character how similar she'd be to yours. XD They could be long lost twins of sorts!)))

Lurele had been in the process of searching through her pack for one of the potions she had bought when she hears a girl addressing her.  She turns to look up at the newcomer with a smile, the potion in her hand.  "Huh?  Oh, yeah!  It was our first battle together!  Both of the pokemon did great if you ask me.  I'm Lurele, and this little one is Poliwag."

 

"Poli poli!"  The little tadpole pokemon puffs up its chest to try and look strong in front of the new girl, which gives Lurele the opening she needs to quickly spray the tiny pokemon down with the potion.  It jumps up in shock and turns to start chirping at her in agitation, causing Lurele to giggle at him while she picks Poliwag up in her arms.

 

Smiling widely at the new girl, Lurele tilts her head a little as she holds her Poliwag in her arms.  The little tadpole pokemon squirms a little bit, not really trying to get her to let go but just enough to try and show off that he was feeling well.  "Not too bad for a first battle, I think...  Though the two of us have a long way to go if we're going to have our own gym one day."

 

((Also, d'awww XD  I bet they'll get along great, lol.  Lurele is loosely based off of Flannery from the Hoenn region lol, I imagine her looking a lot like her at least.))

Locke looked up when he heard a new voice. He had been taking notes on a Starly he saw nearby, and he had a pair if glasses on that were almost falling off his nose. He nodded and smiled awkwardly at the newcomer, then stood up fully with Blue in his arms. "I'm um... Locke. Um.... Oh this is Blue!" Locke gave another awkward smile and put his glasses in his pocket. As he looked down at this new girl, he realized how much taller he was than a normal person. But he felt like it only made him look even more awkward.

A small smile stretched across Bethanne's face. "Hello Lurele." she turned to look up at Locke "Hello Locke." She switched to addressing both of them. "I'm Bethanne, and this is...." She pulled out the egg again. "Well, I'm not sure, to be honest. I was never told what it would hatch into when I got it."

 

She was about to turn and ask Eric if his pokémon was still hurt from the battle, when she noticed a small yellow tail poking out of a patch of grass ahead. "Excuse me for a moment." She said, placing her egg back into its spot, and walking over to the tail. As she got closer, she saw it was an Abra. 'Hmm.... It'd do well for me to have a pokémon that isn't in an egg, and I've heard Abra's evolutions are powerful.'

 

Bethanne stepped up to the Abra, pulling a pokéball out of her bag. She pushed the button on the front, causing the ball to grow in size, and readied her stance. Ready to throw the ball, she took a small step back, and lifted her arm. 'Oh!' She lowered her arm, returning the pokéball back to it's normal size and putting it back in her bag. 'It's hurt!' She walked closer to the Abra, and noticed more clearly the gash that had made her stop. It looked far worse up close than it did from a distance. The Abra looked at her, the look on it's face clearly said it was in pain.

 

She knelt down, opening one of the many pockets of her pants, and pulled out a white plastic case, with a red heart on the lid. She opened it, pulling out a small energy root. She tore a bit off, putting the larger of the two pieces back in the case, which then went back into her pocket. She put the smaller bit in her mouth, and began chewing. Her face scrunched up in disgust at the bitterness of it, and after a few seconds of shewing, she pulled out the root bit, which now looked more like a paste. "This might hurt a teeny bit, Abra, but I promise it'll make you feel better." She spread the paste-like root onto the gash, causing the Abra to wince a slight bit. Almost instantly, Abra's wince turned into relief, and Bethanne wiped the remaining paste away, revealing the gash was completely healed.

 

"Better?" She asked the Abra, which nodded enthusiastically in return, and teleported away.

Eric smiled at Lurele words. He knew that Larva had done good, but he also knew that Larva was aware that he would just say thing to her to make her feel better. He noticed that Bethanne had looked back to him after addressing his friends. She returned her egg back into her back and walked past him. Eric stepped out of her way and let her pass. He watched and saw that she was about to catch what looked like an abra, then watched as she knelled down and helped the wounded pokemon, causing a smile to form on his face.

 

"It's a good thing we have trainers in this world like her." Eric said aloud, walking over to Bethanne and kneeling down beside her.

 

"Your a real nurse joy, Bethanne." Eric said to her with a smile.

Bethanne looked over at Eric, smiling. "Oh, no, I'm nothing like Nurse Joy. I would hate to just stand in one place all the time, letting a machine do all the work." She turned her gaze upwards, to the clouds. "I enjoy roaming around under the blue sky, feeling the sun on my skin, the breeze through my hair. Plus," She turned back towards Eric. "It feels so great to know that my actions helped a pokémon in need. I wouldn't trade that feeling for the world!" She stood back up, dusting off her knees. "Let's go rejoin the group, shall we?"

Eric chuckled at what Bethanne had said about nurse joy. She stood up and suggested that they rejoined the group. Eric nodded and stood up walking back with  Bethanne.

Locke went back into his patch of grass and had a quick battle with a Starly. He ended up catching it with little difficulty and went back to the group. Locke was still not used to Bethanne being here so he reverted back to his shell. "U-um... yea I think we can go on.... I-if you guys are done of course..."

Lurele smiles, returning Poliwag to his pokeball while moving to catch up with Locke.  "Ready whenever everyone else is!  Poliwag and I can get training done anywhere, nothing special holding us here."  She looks over to Bethanie and grins widely, speaking to the other girl.  "Are you going to travel with us, Bethanie?  Because, you know, that'd be awesome!  The more the merrier and all that stuff, hehehe."

"Yeah, Bethanie! it'd be great to have another friend along for the journey." Eric explained. "And i know larvestia would be happy to meet you, so what do say?"

Bethanne looked around the group, a smile spreading across her face. "I'd be happy to join you all! It'd be great to travel with others!" She looked at her new companions, glad to finally have some company to travel with for a change. She quickly glanced back at the grass she had found the Abra in. "I'm ready to leave whenever you all are!"
