As the title would suggest, and I are looking to start up a RP campaign involving some virtual tabletop action - letting dice and stats call the shots as opposed to the somewhat more liberally structured RPs you normally run into around the forums. Examples of this style of play can be found in popular pen-and-paper RPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons, Shadowrun, Rifts, GURPS, the Final Fantasy Roleplaying Game, Call of Cthulu, etc.

Ideally, we'd be looking for a group of at least 4-7 people (including a dungeon/game master) who would be available to meet up via Skype group at least once a week, for sessions of at least 3-4 hours. The system of play will be determined after we have enough interested members join and tell us which systems (if any) they have the most experience with. Becker would prefer a D20 system, whereas I'd prefer percentile, but we'll cross that bridge later.

As far as the setting goes, this is also to be determined; if a majority of the members would like an MLP-themed campaign, we can establish the setting in the MLP universe. If a majority would simply prefer the stock setting of the D&D/FF/(whatever we base the system on) universe, we can do that as well. Note that if we decide on an MLP campaign, you are still free to play as a humanoid character, and conversely, you are free to play as an equestrian character in a largely humanoid setting - all of this, we can find a way to work into the plot, especially if we get a DM who's stellar at storytelling. img-1952584-1-wink.png

If this sounds like something anyone would like to be a part of, dust off those 20-sided dice and leave a comment detailing what you'd prefer to see done with this campaign:

Prior experience: (specify) / None
System: D20 / Percentile / Other / No preference

MLP-centric: Yes / No / No Preference

Availability: (days and times [include your timezone!])

Position: Player character / DM (GM)

Any other questions, comments, breath mints would be most welcome. img-1952584-2-smile.png

How often would the game go on? Would there be a specified date and time, or is it just whenever everyone is active?

Ideally, we'd like to have at least one session per week - I'd assume that people would be most available during the weekends, so we might shoot for an "every Saturday at xx:xx" type of deal. If everyone could set a specific time slot they'd be available for, we can try to find out which times would work best for everyone.

Huh, while this sounds awesome and I've been looking to try some actual tabletop for ages, I don't think I could match up with times for everyone else: I'm active most 18:00 - 21:00 and 00:00 - 03:00 Mon, Tue, Thur and Fri. GMT standard times.

Weekends are actually worse for me because thats when I spend time with friends and family :(

Ah well! Out of curiosity, would it be calls over Skype or IM over Skype? (I've only ever used it for voice chat in video games... :P )

Oh, wow...if I'm converting those times correctly, that'd translate out to 10PM-1AM and 4-7AM (PST). Yeah, that probably wouldn't be best for me, especially since I work most of those days. I personally wouldn't mind doing a session in the earlier time slot (the 18:00-21:00 one) on a Friday or Saturday night, but that might not be something that'd work out for the majority, sadly. blush.png

As for the Skyping, it'd probably be mostly text-based since we don't want to exclude anyone who doesn't own a mic, plus it'd eliminate lag issues we might have if we did voice chat. Of course, if all the planets aligned and every member had both a mic and a good Internet connection, it could be done. tongue.png

Heh, yeah my time zone sucks :P

If by some divine intervention you do do anything in the earlier slot: here I am! I've never actually played tabletop but I think I have a surprisingly firm grasp of the rules for a good few of them thanks to reading a bunch of stuff and playing the more true-to-form D&D video games.

You know what? It turns out I'm a total git! I wasn't converting those times correctly; they're actually 10AM-3PM and 4-7PM PST. wacko.png Sadly, those don't really work a whole lot better for me since I'd still be at work throughout most of it. Best I could do in that scenario is 5:30-7PM (1:30-21:00 GMT) since I get home from work a little more than an hour after you'd be ready. Still, if by some miracle that time frame works for everyone else, I'll let you know.

This sounds quite exciting, actually! I haven't touched this forum account in months, but it brings a smile to actually see another group of people who love to play the more "traditional" RPGs. I'd love to join, but if my schedule doesn't match up with the rest of the group's (my most available time is all throughout Sunday), I'll probably need to back out. With some luck and happy thoughts, though, I'd love to take another go at throwing some dice around! Now just to fill out this resume...

Prior experience: I've been playing a scattering of tabletop systems for the last three years or so, my favorite systems being Pathfinder, Final Fantasy D6, Pokemon: Tabletop Adventures, and as of late there's this nice My Little Pony: Roleplaying is Magic (second edition) game that one of my friends has been running, and we've had a ton of fun!
System: I'm much more familiar with the d20 system so I would probably throw my vote in for that, but I'm not afraid to try out something new for a change.

MLP-centric: If things came out in my favor, I'd prefer an MLP-themed campaign, but I wouldn't scoff at a more traditional setting.

Availability: My most available time is all throughout Sunday, as I'm afraid the rest of my weekend is taken up either with schoolwork or other campaigns. My timezone is Pacific Time.

Position: I've tried my hand at GMing once or twice, and it has worked out...less than what I'd hoped. Crashed and burned, unfortunately. I would much prefer a player position.
