@@Gloomfury,

Chrysalis was too busy admiring the food she had just eaten to really listen to what he had to say. Probably rude. She was just trying to imagine the words for what she had just eaten. She ate some other pieces; and they were just as good as the last.

"How are you able to make such wonderful concoctions of food? I've never had anything like it!"

"You really are fond of chatting with me, aren't you? If I didn't know better, I'd think you had feelings for me!" Solaire of Astora.

There was yet another lack of a reply from the queen, just her trying to say that she agreed though her food. His story was more interesting than her that's for sure; he sounded like a pony who knew a lot. Things that she could never have the patience to learn.

*Like poisoning somepony's food* Was the next thought to enter her head. She stopped, and swallowed.

"So tell me, there isn't a, oh I don't know; secret ingrediant. Is there?"

Gloom shrugs. "Nope. It just got olive oilonions, garlicgreen peppersginger paste, curry powder and the meat I had. I was going to put in some chili powder to make it spicy. But I thought you wouldn't like it. Cause I like to make my food hotter then fire. But I didn't want to kill ya." He chuckles.

@@Feather Gem,

"You most certainly are!" Noted the reality warper - quite literally inside a notepad which promptly vanished as quickly as it had appeared. "And even if you sound positively hateful, I do appreciate you at least hearing me out... I knew there was something different about you: why would you have answered my call if you were just another puppet of dear old Celly??"

He sneered in a good-natured way: if such a thing were possible. All truth: each one of those who had come had some level of chaos inside them, and this one... well, she might not be much at the moment but the potential was as astounding as her open mindedness was refreshing. While he was perfectly aware that she was most likely only listening out of spite, he had an audience who was willing to listen: and listen she would.

"Well then, have you ever wondered why it us that Celestia hates me so? Or why she hasn't been able - try as she might - to remove me completely? Only succeeding in encasing me in stone until I got bored and broke free... "

There were so many good questions: the trick was to get her genuinely interested / not just listening but caring about the answers - about why and how...

"If I wanted, I could have hypnotised you before you ever saw me. I didn't though, did I? You've been a puppet for too long already..."

@@Gloomfury,

Chysalis wen't through the list in her head. As far as she could tell she had no allergy to any of those things. "Are you sure; sweetie?" She loathed using that word to get information, but he did admit anything then it would be worth it. "Nothing to add a, kick to the meal?"

Gloom gave her a strange look when she called him 'sweetie'. 'Why dose she keep asking about what I put in the food?' He thought. But then it hit him. And he sighed. "Look darling. If you think I poisoned your food. I didn't. I admit, I have used poison before. But I never put it in my cooking. Except when I cook manticore steak, the venom makes it spicyYou just have to take my word for it. And if that don't work." He takes some of the food off her plate with his spoon and eats it. "But to be fair, I am a immune to some poisons."

Chrysalis gave him a suspicious look as soon as he had finished talking. "Fine." She grumbled; as she continudd to eat her food. Of course the food just too good, so for the rest of the meal she was just adoring each bite of it. Even though it could be poisoned and she will probably just drop dead in a few minutes.

But it was worth it.

@,

His questions rung around in her mind despite how she wanted them to flow through one ear and out the other without time to process their true meaning.  They were thought-provoking questions certainly.  She assumed she had the answer for at least some of them, but who knew with this puzzling being?  Everything that should make sense, didn't.  Everything that didn't make sense, did.

And he could have hypnotized her, true.  She may even be hypnotized at this very moment, though it was highly unlikely.  She needed to try and see this from his point of view.  Would it be any fun...?

Maybe.  But not yet.

Then she froze solid at the last sentence he spoke.  She turned to him, glaring at him coldly.

"I am nopony's puppet.  I am not Celestia's and I will not be yours."

Geez, Vine.  Why do I bother to ask you to control yourself?

This wasn't the first time he got friendly with the enemy. You usually did so he could get them to drop their guard. But he felt like she wasn't all that bad. Sure she tried to pull a coup in Canterlot. But that was to feed her hungry children. So it was understandable. Gloom finishes his plate and gets up. "Want some more? I made plenty."

@@Feather Gem,

Pride... It was so predictable.

"Oh?" Said Discord, raising a claw to his mouth in an expression of surprise: though whether it was a mockery or simply another overblown performance was impossible to tell.

"Not a puppet at all, you say?" He started to query - shifting through the air - appearing from a new direction with each question, as if it were a new Discord asking each one. "Queen of your own thoughts, yes? Mistress of your own mind, so to speak?"

He chuckled to himself: fading away again to appear exactly as he had before - walking beside her as if nothing had happened.

"Very well! If an open mind if what you wish: I won't touch it - unless of course, you ask." He grinned chaotically before returning to the picture of politeness that he had been maintaining all this time. "Though in that case, perhaps you might trust me enough with simple courtesy? You never told me your name dear, and while I could simply refer to you as 'pony'... I really do believe that you are worth a little more dignity that that, wouldn't you agree?"

Fire was shaking slightly, her body just going through the transitions, currently shock for the moment, though she was determined to answer to the old king.

"I don't feel hatred, I feel wrong. I give orders to those below me to go fight those who many times don't have a choice in what they fight, and even myself the battles I face they are against my own friend who went mad, its wrong to fight those ponies. But ponies like you I have nothing against, your cruel in your nature and all you want is to gain something. Why would I accept 'ultimate' power? Why would I want to be in history? I already have made my mark, why would I go make another?"

She knew that he was trying to get to her, and it was working.  He made her feel like she was nothing more than his pet.  Even if he might not be making her into a puppet, he was certainly playing with her, messing with her.  And gosh, was he having fun.

If he was anypony else...

Chamois continued walking as he appeared numerous times in different directions around her, basically ignoring his questions as best as she could.  Then he was beside her again, switching back to a slightly less...chaotic state.

"Surely you could find out my name without needing to ask," Chamois said without looking at him.  She was unable to keep the irritation out of her voice despite how polite he was being.  "But…I'd rather you'd not.  My name is Chamois Vine.  Now, how about introducing yourself to me since I don't quite know who you are?"

She knew who he was, of course.  She knew the basics at the very least.  But why not?  Anyway, maybe this would keep him occupied for a few moments while she calmed down a bit.

Chrysalis really could go with more food, but he could poison it behind her back. It could be true. She didn't know what Gloom was thinking. But he didn't hate her; she could tell that much.

"Hmm." She pondered the idea a bit further. "I shall, decline your offer."

"Ah yes, how rude of me..." He chided, pulling a disappointed face at himself as he slowed down to a stop.

"I, am Discord!" He declared dramatically: knowing full well that his identity was anything but a secret - simply enjoying the opportunity to play up to an audience who wasn't screaming, babbling senselessly or trying to imprison him somewhere.

"Aspect of chaos, difference and change! Strife, disharmony and... listen up: here's the good one... balance!"

Of course, a pony ruled by dear Celestia would never have heard all of this before. Maybe a select few: the worst of them certainly - nothing good. Half-truths: the princess was quite skilled with them too, it seemed.

He gave a surprisingly elegant, sweeping bow - almost as if he were - for once - taking matters seriously.

It didn't last.

"Alright, suit yourself." He gets some more for himself and takes the seat Chrysalis sat in when he was cooking. After he was done he toss the dishes into the sink and puts the rest of the food in the fridge. He then what back over to Chrysalis and takes  the seat next to her again. Chamois raised an eyebrow at him, stopping in her tracks to watch his dramatic display.  He obviously thought highly of himself.  When he had finally seemed to finish, Chamois spoke;

"Balance?  Really?  Isn't that...like the complete opposite of chaos and disharmony...?"  She gestured with the glass of milk that she still held in her hoof, making it slosh around inside of the glass.  Remembering that she had it at that moment, she peered down into the glass, thinking how no matter how good it was, she'd go for a fruit smoothie any day.  She was not about to ask for it though.

Speaking of fruit smoothies, he didn’t seem to take much seriously.  Chamois actually – regardless of how serious she was – found herself respecting that in a way she didn’t understand.

"I was also expecting a more normal introduction.  How stupid of me," she said quietly, almost to glass rather than to Discord.

"Opposite? Oh no, not at all!" He chuckled. "Now this is exactly what I meant: you need to look at things with an open mind... You're still thinking the way that Celestia has taught you! Try to think for yourself!"

He raised a brow with a cocky expression.

"Think about our... ahem... aquaintances here. Eternal night? Equestria Enslaved? No change, no questions, no fun... no chaos." He flashed a look of boredom as the colour seemed to drain from the world around them. "Luna, Sombra, Celestia, Twilight Sparkle... they all want order - good and evil don't even come into it!"

Colour returned to the hall - not its previous gloomy brown spectrum but a cascade of rainbow tones lining the walls: shimmering green fires burned atop the candles, casting a far greater light than they had before. He stopped - twirling into a sitting position in midair and freezing, eyes locked on the mare for a moment, the flickering, bright candlelight slowing to a crawl as if time itself was being held back before he released his gaze with a chuckle - seemingly oblivious to the fact that the two of them were now comfortably standing on the ceiling.

"And I provide the... well, the discord that Equestria needs to prevent that, see?" He grinned. "I bring it into balance!"

Chrysalis never did think of that. She never even believed she would get this far with him. "Hm.You know what? I didn't even think that I would have to think of that. "Hmm I see your point, however, the way you see yourself from what I understand of you telling me is you feel bad for killing others; correct?" with a lighting of his horn a gray metal ring manifested itself around the mares horn so that her magic powers were now forfeit. "You're doubting how much potential power you have inside of you, don't lie I can see when you lie. The pain you feel for killing another is merely your conscience getting after you saying it is wrong; but in reality it is not, for pain is weakness leaving the body and all things are meant to die eventually." Walking towards the metal cage and with a shot of dark magic, turned it into a standard wooden door with a knob and keyhole where they should be, "Through this door is what you desire, if you have any, walk through and your questions will be answered; instead of asking 'why' ask yourself 'why not'. Slowly he opened the door, showing a green spiraling vortex mixed with a tad bit of crimson, it was spinning in such a way that it was almost hypnotic.

When he took away the color, Chamois felt a twinge of anxiety and depression.  And then when he brought the color back, except this time, making all the colors of the rainbow appear all around them, she couldn't help but smile.  Her life had so little color to it, and perhaps that's why she was an artist who worked with a magnitude of colors.  Color...it was important to her.  Heck, why else would she have added neon streaks to her otherwise dull, black mane?

Then, he locked his eyes onto her and the smile faded off of her face and she stared back at him.  Time seemed to slow down, as if daring her to think carefully about every single word that poured from his mouth.

With his chuckle, everything seemed to go back to normal.  At least, as normal as they could get with the Spirit of Chaos.  The colors still shimmered around them and now…they were on the ceiling.

Chamois squeaked quietly and grabbed at the wall with her front hooves.

"So...u-um..." Chamois said, staring up at the floor.  "You...you're a good guy or something?"

Now things were interesting! Those were such good options. Of course she had to keep up the influence that he needed to co-operate. If he realized that they were all being treated so nicely then they could try and escape. So obviously it would be smart to chose the most violent of them...

The queen laughed. The very thought of irritating him was hilarious to her. And of course; she could show off how far she was ahead of the game. Her laughter slowed down, only to flash a grin.

"My dear..." Discord shrugged as he sauntered along the roof - stopping for a moment to look boredly at the nomalness of the seemingly endless tunnel. It would go on so long as he needed it to - that was the beauty of working within his own domain - but that didn't stop it getting tiresome.

"I don't see it as 'good' or 'bad'... I simply do what I have to! I stop Equestra becoming bleak and stagnant! I bring the colour and the music and the enjoyment of life! Why, if it weren't for chaos then this land would be nothing but a flat, grey canvas without an artist to be found."

He stopped again - suddenly this time - and raised a claw to his chin thoughtfully.

"... Come to think of it, this mountain bores me somewhat: do you have any suggestions?" He asked, thinking a second longer before beginning to list possible ''improvements'.

"Carpets? No, Moony and Sombra would never agree on colours... Maybe a few flowers to brighten up the place? Poison joke is a favourite of mine - grew it myself, don't you know?" He grinned as a bouquet was pulled from thin air - like a stage magician without any sleeves to pull it from. "Too gaudy? I think so..."

A blue fire sparked onto the leaves: quickly consuming them and leaving nothing but a sparkling aura in the air where they had been.

"I suppose we could ask some of the others if they have any ideas how to liven the place up a little... Moony and Chrissy can be fun on occasion I suppose..."
