The Mountains That Divided Two Worlds

Prologue

__________________________________________________

There was a mountain range named the Ponlinian Mountains. The Ponlinian Mountains were so high, only Pegasi ponies were able to live up there due to the lack of oxygen. Even then, the bone-chilling weather would have frozen them. As such, with a mountain passing the safe boundaries of ponies were left unexplored. As such, two worlds, both inhabited with ponies, know nothing of each other…

Stop! Enough of this “geographical lesson,” this is not a classroom! Onwards to the story, shall we? After all, this is not going to be that story where it will bore a pony to death!

“Mom! Mom!” A young cream-coated, brown-maned colt yelled at his mother. The young colt’s hooves were sporadic in the air as he tried to get his mother’s attention.

“What is it?” The mother responded with amusement and warmth. After all, not every day do you see a young colt flailing his arms like an octopus on drugs.

“What are those mountains called? You told me every mountain had names! And those mountains should have names because they are, like, the size of Mrs. Sugar’s behind! And…” The young colt’s mouth was now all but a blur, words were being produced and shipped out at an impressive, 300 words per minute.

Before the young colt could have continued on with his rambling, a hoof was placed at his mouth, stopping the word producing machine. “Don’t you dare say such things, young colt!” The mother scolded her son for saying aloud such rumors about Mrs. Sugar’s behind. While she would have normally agreed to the rather impressive state of Mrs. Sugar’s behind, she couldn’t in front of her son. After all, she couldn’t encourage such things to continue, after all, think about the future!

“Soorry,” the young colt dragged sorry, as a sign of apology. He focused his attention at the ground, avoiding his mother’s hellish gaze. Of course, like most children, he suddenly did a 180 degree flip in mood. His ears perked up as his body’s emotion turned into excitement, he repeated his unanswered question, “Mom! What are those names called?” His right hoof pointing at the mountain range.

“Those mountains are called the Ponlinian Mountain Ranges,” The mother answered the colt’s question without missing a beat.

“Po-lin-ian Mountains,” The young colt’s mouth was trying out the new word. The colt proceeded onto asking another question, “Can we go up there, mom? One day? Can we?” His tail was wagging with his eyes brim with complete excitement.

“Of course not dear!” The mother responded, crushing her son’s dreams of adventuring up to the mountains.

”Why not?” The young colt’s tail now stopped wagging.

“We’ll freeze to death,” The mother responded with such careless tone. Her face portraying joy… strangely enough, let’s hope she isn’t a sadistic mare. “Now, we have to go, your father is waiting for us!” The mother spoke as she turned away from the direction of the mountains. The colt followed along with his mother. He looked back at the mountains one last time, vowing that one day, he will visit those mountains, even if it’s the last thing he does.
