I've been looking for a friendly place to discuss the show, and this discussion board seems well-managed, pleasant and inviting. Way to go! I'm a member of a lot of different forums that cover all sorts of subjects, but when I want to talk about ponies, this seems like the right place for me. ponyvangelist 732 February 29, 2012 Author Share February 29, 2012 A Pony Tale Since this is my introduction thread, after all, I suppose I should explain in more detail my own "pony tale" and why I like the show. I first watched S01E01 nearly a year ago as a lark when a fellow anime fan urged me to watch it. Before then, the idea that I would ever have an interest in anything having to do with "My Little Pony" was so far off my radar as to be utterly inconceivable. Simply not in the realm of possibility. So I sat down, started watching the show, snickered a bit at the fairytale opener, winced and almost turned it off when I first heard the theme song begin with "My Little Pony, My Little Pony..." ("Oh my God, what am I doing here?!?!"), but stayed because the song picked up nicely after that, and I dutifully reminded myself that I was only there for a good laugh, fully expecting not to make it all the way through the first episode. I was hopelessly hooked before Twilight and Spike even left for Ponyville. Almost a year later, anyone and everyone who knows me knows I love this show to an irrational degree. While I'm reluctant to say it's my all-time favorite (that's a field which covers an awful lot of ground and a lot of great shows), it's unquestionably my favorite show for now. My style of commentary often involves irony, sometimes sarcasm, and a sense of humor that might rightly be considered a bit twisted, but I hope I will never say or do anything that would give anyone the impression I don't like the show or hold any form of disrespect for any of my fellow fans. I may not agree with everyone on everything, but I do know that anyone who appreciates Friendship is Magic knows a truly great show when they see it, and I will always respect that.
