IDontExistAnymore 74 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 (edited) So a story going around is that Amazon is going to try to start delivering your packages using flying drones.... Would you like to have your package arrive at your home in under 30 minutes being delivered by an unmanned drone? What are your opinions about the idea? Do you like it or hate it? I really want to know because I don't know what to think of the new technology. Thanks for your opinions EDIT: http://money.cnn.com/2013/12/01/technology/amazon-drone-delivery/ Link to details. Sunnerino 182 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 I do think it's a pretty cool idea but it's also fairly ambitious. A number of things could go wrong with the new technology. If you see me around, feel free to say hey!

Zygen 6,066 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 Hm, never heard of that... I'd be worried it'd drop it or break it or something. So i'd probaly rather be patient. It'd be cool to see a drone drop my package off though ;p., dunno how well it works though. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! The Pulse 210 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 I think that it's a great idea... If it works. Not only is it very ambitious, there are also many things that can go wrong if anything fails. Made By Me

Gone Airbourne 21,977 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 Sounds like a pretty nifty idea to be honest but I would rather wait for them to really perfect that before trying to send things out so.... my conclusion is neutral as of now.
Moonlight 7,286 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 If it actually works well, then it could be a smart move. If not, then it's obviously a bad decision. I'm not against fast deliveries and all, but I'm not sure what I think about this. I'll remain neutral until something good or bad happens to sway my opinion. matching setups with my bff pathfinder
King 5,625 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 If it works then awesome. IDontExistAnymore 74 December 4, 2013 Author Share December 4, 2013 The technology is coming fast to be able to do this and prototypes are already being built and used but It will probably be 2-4 years before mass production if all goes well for them. Orablanco Account 3,707 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 Don't really see a downside to this other than the process of working out the quirks, but that's to be expected. It isn't like the drones are going to have lasers or something. Onwards to my DeviantArt page! Sig by the illustrious Kyoshi!

Courageous Thunder Dash 7,824 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 I think it'll be pretty amazing to have drones come to your house and you don't have to wait days for your product to come. Frosty Flurry 173 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 It could cost amazon alot of money. But I like the thought of waiting for a package to arrive and it just being there in 30 mins (thats likely... :comeatus: ) and it just being there! But for the thought is also creepy... I can't really explain why
jackleapp81 456 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 (edited) I like the concept of the idea. But in practice...there are SO many things that could go wrong. Such as: -Cats pouncing on the drones as they near the ground, causing irreparable damage (Same goes for dogs and other domesticated animals) -Pranksters could use strong magnets to mess with the circuitry and disable the drones -Like mentioned, people could also shoot them out of the sky with guns to intercept deliveries -Bad weather conditions could cause the drones to break -The drones could potentially be hacked and re-directed to some other location I just see so many things that could go wrong. Amazon would have to address these issues first before they even considered doing something like this on a global scale. ~Master~ Button Mash 2,307 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 This sounds pretty epic! It needs to be perfect though, before it's implemented. I can see a lot going wrong if these things operate around low altitude airways without precision. Today it's bird strikes. Tomorrow will it be drone strikes? ReverseFaller 2,483 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 This actually sounds pretty cool. They're going to have to make sure everything works before they go ahead and start doing it though. I read somewhere that drones aren't terribly hard to hack, so you may have people trying to hack drones to steal peoples things. Anyways though, if in the future they could get it to work this would be awesome. 1 Credit for the signature goes to Kyoshi
Glaci 119 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 This is an amazing idea! I wanna see a drone fly over my house and drop a package right in front of my door! I mean how much cooler could you look? What if your neighbors didn't know about it and you looked like some badass special agent for the FBI or something? xD

Mr F 1,522 December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 Hmm, well nothing is bad with the idea itself. A lot can happen, someone could place a bomb in it or someting. Well, it would be awesome anyway. (Really cool signature)
