This is the first song I've ever made

It has taken me over 3 months to make this, hopefully you all like it

I'm sorry if this will be a bit harsh, but I think it's best to be honest with everypony, considering their work.

 

It could have been a nice song...

I'm sorry to say this, but this piece of music is bleeding for far too many wounds

 

It started out with a nice, simple tune, that was (imho) packed with some unnecessary effects, but was still a good start.

It was building up its energy at a steady pace, even if the intro part of the track was a bit too long, considering it's total length.

 

At 0:35 came the anticipated change in rhythm that was delivered perfectly, but what came after that was not.

 

The first, and biggest problem was that the new tune that came in at 0:42 was so dissonant with the original tune that it almost made me stop at that point. The whole concept that you built up has crumbled with it. Also, there were once again to many effects on it.

 

The second problem was, that the listener would anticipate a (bit late) lift in the song by the time of reaching its 1/3, but you continued with the same slow beat you used in the intro. It's like, you tell a filly, you will be giving her some chocolate, and then walk away...

The rest of the song carried on with the same pace, and it ended with a clean cut off, that maybe should have been done some other way.

 

 

Considering this was your first try at making music, and as such, creating art, I won't say it was a complete waste of your 3 months.

I won't tell you to quit, or give up on this, but rather, you should sit down and listen to your favorite artists and their songs of your chosen style, or the ones that resemble it the most, and take notes on how those tracks are built up. You should also study a bit about the software you were using, so you can manage to make the most of your art.

 

As I have stated above, the basic tune of the song was nice, so you should take that and try to rework it.

I see the possibilities in your music, so go for it

 

Also, if you feel like you're stuck, I think there will be a lot of ponies around at the forum (including myself), who would most gladly offer you help and assistance with any questions you have.

@@OrangeRiff, i agree with you for the most part. I liked the way it sounded, but now that you point things about it out, it brings up things i could have done better, thanks for the constructive criticism.
