One day, the ponies of Equestria got good news and bad news at the same time. The good news was that there was life on other planets, the bad news was they weren't friendly. In light of the present threat to the world, the Princesses decided a new method of combating the problem was called for. They called for a team to be created from experts of all walks of life, and called it Extraterrestrial Combat, or XCOM for short. New technologies were developed, and the team was assembled. You are that team. You are Equestria's first and last line of defense.

XCOM is a strategy game in which you control a squad of soldiers who operate as the last line of defense to an alien invasion. You control every aspect of the war effort, from what to research to who is worthy of being awarded a medal for their actions. As such a 'one controls everything' approach would be infeasible for a multi-person role play, each person will control their own character and major decisions (such as research and manufacturing) will be voted on by the players and minor decisions will be chosen by random number generator. In between missions you will be able to converse with your squadmates, as well as attempt to further hone your skills as a soldier. I will be handling combat in a more cinematic way than the game does, with a combination of random numbers and depth of description deciding whether a given action succeeds or not.

Rules:

Death is permanent; if you get yourself killed you can pick up a new character but don't expect resurrection.

All races are allowed (including alicorns, excluding humans for logic reasons), but the more powerful the characters are, the more powerful the aliens will be.

No mary sue/gary stus; This should go without mention

Please attempt to use correct grammar; I'm not going to be a stickler for this, but I'd appreciate it.

Classes (Each character chooses one):
Heavy: Carries a light machine gun and rocket launcher, specializes in fire support and dealing damage to multiple enemies.

Assault: Carries a shotgun, specializes in single-target damage and mobility.

Support: Carries a rifle and pistol, specializes in healing others and making their fellow soldiers hard to hit.

Sniper: Carries a sniper rifle and pistol, specializes in single-target damage and long-range marksmanship.

(Additional classes will be added as the players unlock them.)

Players:

Rokkurin as Guardian Angel: ( http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/guardian-angel-r4776 ) Class: Heavy

Cartophile as Blockade: ( http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/blockade-r4324) Class: Sniper

Lonewolf1735 as Reever nar rayya: (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/reever-nar-rayya-r5415) Class: Assault

Myopia Oncler as Thunder King: (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/thunder-king-r5400) Class: Support

I hope you join me for what should be a fun RP.

OMG. The PTSD of playing this game is coming back. No! Quinn, come back, your too low on health! STOP! but it was too late. I watched in horror as my best friend was killed right in front of me.

Okay, now onto a more serious note. I would love to join this RP with my OC Guardian Angel. Link is in my signature.

Welcome aboard! If this is done right, that moment of abject terror will show up again. I'll update the player list once I get back to my computer. Feel free to tell anyone you think may be interested in this.

Class: Sniper

Weapon of choice:

Sniper rifle: H&K PSG1, MSG 90 German Special Force version. Semi-automatic, attached with a long spreadable grip on bottom for stability when shooting prone. Though it still maintains its somewhat old appearance, it should not be underestimated; it has the capability to shooting stun shots that can disable weapons temporarily. Mixing in with futuristic technology, it also has an attached S.C.O.P.E.

Pistol: H&K USP. Semi-automatic, limited ammo (Blockade carries 5 magazines of 9 mm bullets, hence it's ammo limit is 75).  Though it may seem small, it still has versatile value. The pistol is light-weight, allowing quick mobility when needed, has low recoil thanks to its mechanical recoil reduction system. There is a flashlight attached to the bottom of the pistol, and a small carved initial, "BL", on the barrel.

Alright, going to add you now. Please feel free to tell anyone you think may enjoy this about it, I figure we need at least 2 more people in order to get started.

I am submitting my newest OC Thunder King as a Support.

Cloudsdale represent!

And in the off chance (*coughs*) that he gets killed, I have a cast of other characters to send into the meat grinder. Yay!

Excellent! It's always good to have something prepared in case of the inevitable death of a character... I'll update the player list when I get home tonight.

So how's this gonna work

I'm still ironing out a few of the details, but the base of the system works like this.

In combat each action someone takes has a success value (say, shooting a sectoid is a 50.) Using modifiers based on your weapon quality, how you described the shot, etc... I'll run each action on a 100 number rng. If the result is a success, you may describe it. If it's a failure, I'll describe it. Out of combat actions will be judged on a case-by-case basis, and all administrative decisions for the team will be decided by a vote on this OOC topic.

Cool ok also wondering is this gonna be like the game xcom or are our soldiers gonna have personal lives as well cause the men in that game were just so plain all they did was kill aliens never "let's watch a film" or "hay bob wann grab a beer" you know

I'm going to leave the character's actions to the player. If you want to develop them, feel free. When I play XCOM I develop the characters, so it would be awesome if everyone made the characters their own.

Ok cool I just was wondering if they were gonna be able to have a life like do stuff like hangout after missions and stuff also you stil haven't added Myopia Oncler's oc to the roster he's the support also what class you gonna be

I haven't been near my computer... I'm going to update in like an hour. I'm going to play the NPCs (Central, science, engineering, the aliens) since it would be unfair for me to do the aliens and a soldier at the same time."
