The young man stood alone, the ocean's waves lapping over his old and muddied running shoes. His arms were crossed as he stood, simply looking out over the ocean. The bushes behind him were rustling in the faint ocean wind. He ignored them.

He was of average height and stature. Indeed, the only remarkable features the young man had was the way he held himself, confident and self-assuredly. Even though his clothes were torn, and even the green headband he wore was muddied, he had the air of one who had suffered, had endured, and was all the more powerful for it.

Tap. Tap.

The man jumped, a hand jumping to a red and white ball on his belt as he whirled around. But it was only one of the Island's native Wynaut, tugging on his pants leg. He bent down to Wynaut's level, and kindly whispered, "Yes? What is it?" The Wynaut blabbered something, but the man seemed to understand. "They've found the ones?" he asked. Wynaut let out a note of confirmation, and the man's eyes lit up with hope. "Maybe we can be saved, then." He smiled, and looked to see the floating city nearby. "We shall wait. They shall come."

---------------------------------

The boat was not the most comfortable ever, as the most luxurious of ships had stopped venturing into these waters, as Cassie had been informed as she had tried to insist on taking the SS Anne to Hoenn the previous day, as Slateport City had traditionally been the world-roaming ship's stop after departing from Vermilion City. Luckily, the girl did not have to share her two-cot cabin thanks to her winnings after her partially successful challenge of the Indigo League, and as her pokemon hadn't had to spend the night in their pokeballs, which they were loathe to.

Admittedly, Cass had missed Meowstic's familiar warmth from her side, as well as Whimsicott's fluff for a pillow, but at least Flabebe was where she belonged, right nuzzled up to her bosom.

As usual, the flower pokemon's cute little whisper of a snore hlulled Cass into an easy sleep, despite the discomfort of the bed, and as per usual, it was Flabebe chattering and nearly shoving her flower up Cassie's nose that finally woke the poor trainer up.

"What is it, Flabebe?" Cass asked, to which the tiny fairy pointed at the sole port hole in the room with a stubby little hand.

Cass walked over to the poor excuse for a window, and peeked outside to finally see white sands and clear seas. "We're there," Cass smiled. "We're in Hoenn!" She laughed, and Flabebe chirped happily. Meowstic, to the contrary, gazed out of the window, and unlike the other two idiots in the cabin, it noticed a sinister-looking black boat sliding by, which had previously been out of view of their dismal window. It was puffing out huge dollops of black smoke, and had a blue emblem resembling an A emblazed on the side, as well as on a striped flag it was flying. It looked battle-ready, and a number of men in bandanas and striped shirts were dashing about the deck. Cass noticed none of this however, as intent on the approaching land as she was.

---------------------------------------

The boat landed in a bustling town moments later, a town that was clearly under heavy development. The area surrounding Littleroot showed clear signs of heavy deforestation as the residents of the town and the town to the north, Oldale, had expanded to accomodate those from Petalburg. Not that Cass knew this. But the land was empty except for depressing stumps of trees, half-built houses, and tents. A tall bridge could be seen in the distance, as well as a deep concrete gorge bisecting the two towns, one entrance of which the ship was docked in; with all the expansion, Littleroot and Oldale would have been indistinguishable from one another except for the near-complete canal that divided the two.

An announcement came on over the ship's speaker, and Cass, Flabebe, and Meowstic paused to listen. The captain, some dude named Briney, was speaking to them.
"You're arriving in the town of LIttleroot, part of the prosperous Oldale Prefecture and the safest port in Hoenn. As Captain, I suggest to the trainers on deck; go exploring nearby before travelling to Oldale to challenge Norman, as you need at least three pokemon to challenge his gym, and more depending on where you go in the region. Go East immediately out of Littleroot Town and across the bridge to reach Route 101 and Slateport City, but be warned, everything across Unity Bridge is Aqua territory. Go north out of Oldale town to access Verdale Tunnel, the only safe means of access to the north and encompassing Magma territories. Be careful not to follow Route 103 east, though, as rumor has it that's where most of the fighting is. Western Route 103 is safe, however, as it's part of Oldale. To the west, out of Oldale Town, you can access Petalburg Lake, which is part of Oldale, and go from there into Rustboro or Dewford, but again, be wary; Magma and Aqua will do anything to get powerful foreign trainers into their ranks. It's advisable for you, therefore, to meet other trainers and travel in a small group of two or more."

"Have a pleasant day, and good luck."

Cass stepped of the cabin of the wretched tug she and many other trainers had managed to travel on, and took her first onto the soils of Hoenn. Glancing around, she seemed to question whether the Hoenn challenge had been such a good idea after all.

Tuathal stepped off the boat, stretching and yawning, having just woken up. Briney's boat hadn't exactly been the nicest way to travel he'd experienced, but he wasn't too delicate. At least there'd been enough space in the room for Jarvis and No-name to sleep on the floor. But more importantly, it had gotten them to Hoenn, and he now had a whole new region to explore. First though, he ought to at least properly introduce himself to the other trainers he'd arrived with. He approached a girl he'd seen briefly on the ship but hadn't had the chance to speak to.

Stella hummed to herself as she looked over the sea, seeing a hunk of sand on the horizon. She was clearly ignoring many of the other people nearby, who shot her looks that were a mixture of confusion and annoyance every once and a while. When the occasional trainer passed, they would look at the pokemon she was holding in confusion. After all, this was a pokemon not native to the Hoenn region! It would not surprise Stella if none of these easygoing trainers had never seen a cute, little Cottonee before. Or maybe they found the fact that Stella had to constantly tug on one of it's leaves to stop it from floating away in the brisk breeze. Though they would probably give her more odd looks if she tied him to a string like she wanted to. Or maybe it was because, in Unova, everyone kept telling her Cottonee looked funny.

Stella couldn't care less about the looks people gave her. She was almost completely oblivious to them.  The urge to call back Cottonee into it's pokeball was quite tempting, but how else would people know she was a trainer? Now, if Stella could bring out her other pokemon, Litwick, that would be great! But Litwick was terrified of water. Plus, Stella didn't trust her very much...

Once the boat had arrived in Hoenn, Stella heard something on the intercom.

To the west, out of Oldale Town, you can access Petalburg Lake, which is part of Oldale, and go from there into Rustboro or Dewford, but again, be wary; Magma and Aqua will do anything to get powerful foreign trainers into their ranks."

"Ah! Lovely!" Stella exclaimed. "I was wondering where we should go! And the gym's super close too! But we'd need one more adorable little pokemon to battle that guy... Hmm... We'll have to see! Oh, and definitely avoid Route 103! Definitely." After Stella finished her rambling, Cottonee sighed. He didn't want to go to Route 103. He didn't like fighting. But, knowing Stella, they'd probably get lost and end up there.

Once Stella had gotten off the ship, she glanced around, and casually stepped out of the way for the rest of people getting off. Everything looked a bit different then she had imagined, but she was sure that everything was going to be fine.

The simple waves that float out onto the sea of Hoenn was calming to the Trainer inside of the boat. A small smile breaking his face,  he looked down to the Pokemon in his lap, a sleeping Luxio right comfortable within his legs, oddly purring away in deep slumber. To his right, was another Pokemon occupying the bed. Roserade had also seemed to be tuckered out by the long ship ride here, seeing she was passed out easily. The trainer had chuckled out, giving Luxio a gentle rub on its back with his right palm.

Ah, Hoenn... Though your war seems to blemish your looks, the demeanor always keeps your inner beauty golden. And I'm here to help bring some of that 'goldosity' back to your region!

As the boat came to a halt, Luxio seemed to be disgruntled by the sudden jerk from his trainer getting up, giving him a nasty glare before coming onto the floor. "Come now, Lux, don't be that way. We can't simply sleep the entire adventure of Hoenn, now can't we? There's a region to explore, one to show the light of beauty! And you rather sleep it away... I question why I chose you over that cute little Pachirisu." Anton had responded with a chuckle. In all fairness, he meant it as a joke nevertheless. "Now, be a dear, wake Roserade up, please. We'll be on land in a few minutes."

A couple of growling and groan-inducing minutes later, Roserade stepped out onto the land along with Anton and Luxio, right near his side, observing the scenery. "Perfect! Absolutely wonderful."

It had only been a few minutes, and Stella was already lost. She had completely forgotten what the announcement on the boat had said about where trainers should go. You couldn't exactly blame her, though. After all, her home in Nimbassa city was big and urbanized. This town was absolutely tiny. The only signs of life around that were visible were the passengers getting off the train. Now would be a good time to ask someone for help. Stella was never a fan of this, but she supposed asking another trainer for help would be a good idea, as she could meet someone with some interest in being her friend. Hopefully, anyway.

@,

The nearest trainer, who was obviously a trainer due to having pokemon with them, seemed to not be in a rush. "Hey!" Stella called after the trainer, hoping they would let her talk to them.

Turning over towards the voice that had cried out, Anton saw that one girl had started to come over towards him, as he gave her one of his slightly too wide grins. "Ah, yes, hello there! What might you need, new adventurer?" He had called out back to her, his Luxio roaming around his legs, staring at the girl with a friendly look. Roserade, however, didn't seem so happy about seeing her Pokemon near her. Something was off about it... She wasn't sure on what, but it was off...

@,

"Well, I'm a bit lost, really." Stella said. "I was wondering if you knew what there was for a new trainer to do around here. I kinda completely forgot what the announcement thing on the boat said." Cottonee sighed in both annoyance and disbelief. Stella was one of the most indescribable people ever, he was sure. And not in a good way either.

The two pokemon the man had looked foreign to Stella. She knew most of the pokemon from Unova, but not many from any other region. Both of them were certainly interesting. A battle with this trainer would be equally interesting, but asking for a battle probably wasn't a good idea so near water.

"Anyways... If there's just kind of a way most trainers tend to go it would be great if you could show me where that was."

"Ah, confused, aren't you? Well, maybe I could help. Though, I just wanted to go Lilycove of all places. Oh, I'll be so infuriated if the Contest Hall is destroyed! Never mind that. Now, let's see... WAIT! Oh, terribly sorry! This drastic environment is making forget my manners. Straight from Hearthome City of the fabulous Sinnoh region, I am Anton! My beloved, beautiful Roserade to my side here, and-- Luxio, wake up now! You're being awfully rude to our new friend!"

With a bit of an annoyed growl, Luxio had gotten up and looked up to the Trainer, a quick purr coming from him.

"Now, you said something about the announcement, right? Well, Route 101 past is Aqua territory, Route 103 past? Magma territory, I believe... Who are you now?"

"Wow" Miles said as he looked out he window of his small cabin. Miles had been on this boat for a while as the journey from Kalos to Hoenn was far from being short, so the sight of land was almost mystifying at this point. "Frogadier Tyrunt, get over here!" He said to his Pokemon who could honestly care less. Frogadier was leaning against the wall and relaxing while Tyrunt was sleeping, enjoying his time outside of the Pokeball. Giving a small yawn the small fossil Pokemon slowly got up and made his way to the window with Frogadier following. "Isn't the cool guys?" Miles said enthusiastically. "Come on lets see if we can get a better look." Frogadier rolled it's eyes as Miles ran out to the deck. As they got closer to shore Miles could make out the town of Littleroot. It was a small and quiet town with very little activity despite the fact that Hoenn was currently in a state of war.

"You're arriving in the town of LIttleroot, part of the prosperous Oldale Prefecture and the safest port in Hoenn. Once the announcement was over Miles got ready to finally get off the ship and explore a new region, something he hadn't done in a while. "Ok guys lets have a look around this place." He said to his Pokemon while exiting the ship. As he looked around the small town he thought about what to do next. "Let's see." he said quietly. "We can't go straight to Oldale and challenge the gym leader without another Pokemon but we also can't go too far past Oldale itself without running into these Magma and Aqua guys." Miles contemplated this for a while before deciding to explore Route 101 to get some training done and maybe even catch a new Pokemon. Miles then returned his Pokemon to their Pokeballs and started towards Route 101.

@,

"Ah! I'm Stella!" Stella said, extending a hand for Anton to shake, before immediately retracting it as her Cottonee was almost blown away by another strong breeze. Cottonee let out another sigh. She was starting to get annoyed by this constant wind business.

"Hmmm... If I remember correctly, the PA said that the first gym requires three pokemon to challenge, right? Which means I need to catch another adorable little pokemon! So, do you know which way I could go to do that?" Anton's somewhat whimsical speech was starting to bother Stella, for some reason. It would be in her best interests to just be on her way. And also get away from the water so she could have Litwick out instead of Cottonee. That would be much easier to deal with.

Not related, but oh my god the adorableness.

"The gym, eh? Three Pokemon? Oooh, this is a perfect chance to see what types of new Pokemon I can transform to their beautiful selves! Though, I must ask. May I go with you? I mean, what if you, or I, run into trouble here? Your, er... floating Pokemon might not be enough. Then again... Neither would Luxio or Roserade... It would be a perfect time to team up and such. Whaddya say, Stella? Partners?" Anton exclaimed, holding out his hand for agreement. "It might also be best, considering the Pokemon here might be more ferocious than we think."

"Hey! Are you saying my Cottonee can't handle a measly wild pokemon? How rude." Stella said, in quite an annoyed tone. This caused Cottonee to sigh yet again. Poor Cottonee really didn't like battling, but she didn't want to disappoint Stella. Stella disappointing was even worse than regular Stella. "I bet she could easily beat your Luxio. If you're up for the challenge, of course."

"Well, let's see what Luxio thinks.... Luxio!" The sudden conversation between Anton and Luxio began to emerge in front of them.

"This Trainer says that the little flying ball of fluff can grind you to a pulp! And it's just a little ball of fluff! FLUFF! Now, tell me... Would your Trainer enjoy seeing that? Seeing you get embarrased?"

A gentle growl emitted from him, his eyes starting to wince up before turning around. "LllllllllllllllUX!"

"My Luxio is a bit... intimidating, don't you think?"

"Please. Like we're afraid of a silly little Luxio. Cottonee might not look strong, but trust me, we have a little something up our sleeves." Stella said, quite literally throwing the Cottonee at the Luxio. Cottonee, who tended to be shy, was shaking from Luxio's intimidation. Once she got over Luxio, Cottonee managed to secure herself on the ground enough to not be carried away by the breeze. "Use Leech Seed!" Stella called. Cottonee then spread out a series of seeds across the field, only aiming some at Luxio, in the hopes of hitting it. Some seeds hit the ground, and sprouted on the ground. If a pokemon who wasn't a grass type were to step on them, Cottonee would sap some of their health. Though it was likely Anton didn't know that, and thought Cottonee was just a bad shot.

Anton watched as the seeds hit the ground all around them, chuckling a bit. "Heh, well, good attempt there. Though, I'm pretty sure that the move is supposed to HIT the other Pokemon." He scoffed, before looking to Luxio. "Now, let's make this interesting. Luxio, show them a bit of your Swagger, hmm?"

With the agreeing growl coming out from Luxio, it started to twitch its head slightly, making out menacing faces at its attempt to confuse the Cottonee. Hopefully, this should work out to his advantage. Something however was making him feel uneasy. Why were those seeds spread out? Was Cottonee just a bad aimer? Or was it planned?

"Alrighty Cottonee! Use Fairy Wind!" Stella said. Before Luxio managed to do any harm to Cottonee, outside of scaring her more than she was already, she sent a pink wind upward, again not trying to hit Luxio. The wind caused Cottonee to be sprung up into the air, making Luxio - or at least Luxio's face - out of sight. "Now, Fairy Wind again! Then Stun Spore it!" With that, Cottonee sent two attacks at the Luxio. First, a Fairy Wind, and then a Stun Spore. The Stun Spore was carried along the wind, in the hopes that it would hit easier than normal.

The spores fell right upon Luxio, whom let out a painful cry. One leg down kneeling, his body was hardening up, stiffening easily under the effect. Huh? It didn't work? Dang it... Let's see... Attacks would be useless now... And that Fairy Wind seems to be damaging. So... Maybe something else?

"Luxio! Turn to it quickly let out your Roar!" Anton cried out, hoping that Luxio would listen up. As Luxio tried to turn its head, he let out another painful cry, showing as it wouldn't be able to perform it. The paralysis was already getting to it enough to where it couldn't move.

Stella shrugged as the roar sent Cottonee back to her pokeball. Her other option could work quite well with how Cottonee had set up.

The pokemon summoned was what looked to be a candle, white with a purple flame. It let out a yawn and then tilted it's head at the opposition. "Alright! Use Fire Spin Litwick!" Stella commanded the sleepy ghost. When Litwick realized what was going on, no fire appeared. She instead seemed to disappear. "Oh come on Litwick! Not Minimize, Fire Spin!"

((I trust you guys to be fair to each other when you're battling each other, and I don't feel the need to regulate such battles.))

@,

"Hey there. My name's Tuathal... you can call me whatever you want though. Anyway, I always prefer traveling with company, and I was wondering if perhaps you'd like to explore town together?"

The blond girl looked up, her blue streaks flipping as she looked. Her bangs were short and neatly cut in a line, but the rest of her hair tumbled down.

"Oh, hi!" she quipped. She seemed to have been whispering to what looked simply like a flower in the button of her shirt. "I'm Cassie, or Cass, depending on which you prefer. I really don't care, either way." She smiled. "And yeah, travelling with someone would be fun." She noticed someone battling nearby, another couple of trainers, and shrugged. "There isn't really a better way to get to know someone new than a battle, though, is there?" She laughed. "Care to battle, then? The Pokemon Center is right there."

Indeed it was, although it was rather crowded.

"Wow" Miles said as he looked out he window of his small cabin. Miles contemplated this for a while before deciding to explore Route 101 to get some training done and maybe even catch a new Pokemon. Miles then returned his Pokemon to their Pokeballs and started towards Route 101.

Route 101 laid to the east of Littleroot. Once upon a time, Route 101 had been to the north of the town, but both Littleroot and Oldale had expanded along the route, to the point the route no longer existed. It was now bisected by Oldale Canal. The area east of Littleroot meanwhile had been named the New Route 101, and connected Littleroot to Slateport by means of the Unity Bridge, which had been declared neutral territory for the safety of those travelling across for fears of alienating the Oldale Leader and altering the balance of power in the region.

There were a few trash cans and piles of trash littering the Littleroot side of the bridge, and there was movement in alleyways between houses. The Bridge loomed up over the horizon, and stretched up in the sky due east. Pelipper, Wingull, Ducklett, Swanna, and Taillow could be seen flying near the peak of the bridge, which travelled in an arch. The water below the bridge sparkled and shimmered and rippled in places. A number of trainers were scattered near the peak of the bridge, wearing striped uniforms and bandanas.

Anton began to laugh a bit from the Litwick's careless listening, before getting back to his demeanor. "Well, seems as though that your other partner is a bit hard on hearing, no? I'm a bit surprised at that. But, let's just get on with this! Luxio! You can't see your opponent, since it's tiny! But! Go, jump around and use Spark!"

Another growl of agreement came out, as Luxio started to cover itself in sparks all around its body. The paralysis seemed to just be ignored by this new electrical current around him. With a cry, Luxio pounced forward, a impact of a spark wave coming from its feet. And for good measures, it did it again in a different direction, crying just as loudly. Though, he wouldn't know what would happen as he managed to crush a seed on accident...

Miles looked around at the dirty route that lay before him. "Well not what I was expecting but as long as I can get a new Pokemon..." Miles said as he unclipped Frogadier's Pokeball and released the Pokemon. "Hey Frogadier you see that bird Pokemon overhead?" Miles asked pointing to the Pelipper that flew surrounded by a couple Wingulls. "I need you to get it's attention." Frogadier nods and jumps onto the highest point of the bridge before using Water Pulse on the Pelipper to hopefully alarm the Pokemon of Frogadier's presence and attack, allowing Miles to catch it.

Tuathal shrugged. "I guess we might as well. Strictly a friendly match, though. I hate taking other people's money almost as much as I hate losing it. If that's fine by you, then go ahead- ladies first."

((By the way, Jarvis has been looming over my shoulder the whole time. He pretty much always is.))

Cass eyed the Kangaskhan, then smiling cheekily, plucked the blue flower out of her lapel, and blew on it softly. "I choose you, Bé!"

She giggled. Trainers not native to Kalos were usually utterly flummoxed by her Flabébé. For a two inch tall pokemon, she was strong. "Et vous?" She asked, smiling.

((Kalosians are totally French.))

The little flock of Pelipper and Wingull scattered around the Water Pulse, alarmed. Although the Pelipper seemed unconcerned, the lead Wingull, a hotheaded little fellow, turned and dived at the Frogadier, and with it came the rest of the Wingull who had been following it in a V-formation.

@,

Luxio had gotten very lucky, as he managed to hit Litwick, sending her flying back. After the hit, Litwick barely had enough energy to stand. "Ah! Litwick! Are you ok?" Stella asked the Litwick. Before Litwick could answer, Luxio managed to step on one of the seeds from earlier. Such a motion caused some of Luxio's HP to be sapped. Which was just enough to re-energize Litwick. "Alright, Litwick! Don't give Luxio another chance to attack! Confuse Ray, then Fire Spin!" Stella commanded. Litwick decided to listen this time, thinking Stella's commands were now suddenly good enough. First, she sent a ray of golden light in Luxio's relative position. Before she checked to see if the attack had hit, the flame on Litwick's head slowly began to grow bigger in what looked like a twister of fire.

Locke slowly walked off the boat, a black Gengar trailing behind him. Hoenn looked wonderful for had bad it had been descirbed back in Johto, whole Civil War and stuff. Having never been outside of Johto and Kanto, who in retrospect are very smilar, Hoenn was quite a change for Locke. Locke tugged at his shirt and looked back at his Gengar. "Pretty different from Ecruteak eh Watson?" The Gengar smiled, more than usual of course, and made some inaudible Pokemon sounds. Locke smiled and looked around the dock. There were several people already having battles to test their strength, so Locke decided to simply watch them and see Pokemon of foreign regions. I've seen next to none of these Pokemon. They're all so much more different and exotic than back home...
