Tuathal shrugged and followed her, making a mental note to consider looking into the possibly wild Lillipup later. His mother had an Arcanine that he'd always liked, and the lillipup reminded him of it in a way. He might even have been interested in catching the Skitty too, but even assuming it wasn't a trainer's, he figured Cassie's excited squeak meant she'd pretty much called dibs. So he just followed her and waited to see how it would work out.

((For pacing purposes, she'll have already caught Skitty.))

When Tuathal caught up to Cass, it was to find Cass battling a number of dog and raccoon-like pokemon. It seemed, chasing the Skitty, she had been ambushed by a small group of Poochyena and Zigzagoon. The Skitty was collapsed on the ground, and Tuathal just saw it being captured in a black and blue pokeball with a crescent moon engraved on it.

Cass had been entirely focused on the Skitty, and as such, her Meowstic - a white cat with a blue scarf and other splotches of blue (That's the female one, right?) - found itself battling the small horde of Poochyena and Zigzagoon.

"Meowstic, use Magical Leaf! En vitesse!"

The cat's leaves chased off most of the Poochyena and Zigzagoon, following them down the corner. One Poochyena was too slow, was struck, and fell over.

"Remind me not to do that again," Cass giggled at Tuathal, while gesturing at the Poochyena, indicating he was free to battle and catch it if he wanted. For it had gotten back up and was staring at them, clearly debating on whether to bolt or fight.

Skitty's data has been added to the Pokedex.

Skitty, the Kitten Pokémon. Skitty will get completely caught up in pursuing any moving objects that catches its eye.

240px-May_Skitty.png

Skitty.

First Encountered: Oldale Town.          OT: Cassie.               Gender: Female.

Nature: Sassy, Somewhat vain

Ability: Cute Charm: Other pokemon can sometimes not stand to attack it if it gets too adorable

Moveset: Charm, Doubleslap, Fake Out, Sing. Can be taught Assist, Copycat, Wake-up Slap with little effort.

((Sorry, sorry! I had a bit of a few busy days and just now got caught up with this RP!))

After a bit of an odd talking to with Roserade, Anton made his way back to see if there was anyone around. "Well, I'm back. Turns out Roserade here has a nice little Poke-crush on that Pokemon over there and-- I'm talking to myself. Wonderful... This is what I get for going away..." He grumbled as he looked over his surroundings for any sort of person nearby. "Hmm... Well, perhaps I should just go ahead and hightail it on my own. But... A trip to the Pokemon Center first."

A few minutes later, Anton had came out of the center, only with Roserade by his side yet again. He had decided to keep Luxio within his Pokeball for safe measures, and now he had completely missed what he had remembered about the other routes being dangerous. With a few decisions, he went off towards the western part of Route 103, wondering if that was the way to see if Stella was nearby.

Route 103 looked like it had been struck by a bombshell. Which, indeed, it probably had. Fighting could be heard to the east, around Route 110, and there was a long, fortified building along the water's edge, blocking the view across the sound, towards 110. A large hole could be seen in the wall of the cliff where trees had been cleared out, reading "Verdale Tunnel".

The Pokemon wildlife didn't seem to be doing too well in this area. A Koffing was wheezing around the base of the fortified building, in which armed trainers and powerful pokemon stood, facing east, guarding Oldale's most volatile boundary. A Grimer sludged around near the City Gate. A few Poochyena and Electrike dug hungrily, looking for something to eat buried in the sandy soil, and a Surskit flitted around a small inlet from the sound. Even the Taillow were wise enough to avoid this place, close enough as it was to the fighting. None of the other pokemon looked like they'd had much of a choice but to be there.

@, @,

"Oh my gosh! You're so cute!" Stella exclaimed. This was a pokemon she had never seen before, and it was also a pokemon clearly fit for her team. And with that, Stella knew she would just have to catch this blue pokemon. "Alright Cottonee! Use Fairy Wind to get it as far away from the water as you can!" Stella told the Cottonee, who floated over the water, then used Fairy Wind in an attempt to push the Mantyke away from the water, so it couldn't escape, hopefully.

As Stella had predicted, Mantyke was blown towards shore, but with a flap, it managed to stay airborne, and it shot a bubblebeam back at Cottonnee in self-defense, as it tried to glide back towards the water through the gust of wind.

"Protect, Cottonee!" Stella said. With that, Cottonee protected herself from the beam of bubbles. "Now Fairy Wind again!" Cottonee sent out another pink wind at the wild pokemon. "I think that should be good. Cottonee, lay off for a bit, ok?" Stella asked, as the little grass type stopped attacking. Stella then threw a pokeball at the Mantyke, hoping that it would be tired enough from being hit with Cottonee's Fairy Wind, even though Cottonee wasn't exactly that strong.

Ech... This place was beaten up more than that announcer from earlier. It's a total disaster...

Anton looked all around the Route, noticing all of the Pokemon that seemed to dwindle about the way. These poor Pokemon. It almost makes me shed a tear that I hadn't qualified for that Ranger school. This place would have been a perfect site for restoration, without a shadow of a doubt. Ah well. I wonder what this place means... "Verdale Tunnel". Some sort of escape route of some sorts? None of the Pokemon here would probably want to go off on their own fighting each other...It's looking like this is the safest route.

"Come, Roserade. Let's explore this "Verdale Tunnel." Anton commanded as they both went right through the large crevice, starting their exploration.

I was planning on going back for that Lillipup I saw earlier, but I think I like this one better, so I guess it's a good thing I followed you." He stepped forward, returning Jarvis to his ball and calling out No-name.  "Alright, I'm taking this one. You know the drill. Hypnosis."

The spiral on No-name's stomach seemed to move in a hypnotic manner as Tuathal readied a pokeball.

At the far end of the tunnel, a pair of menacing trainers in red hoodies with the letter M emblazoned on the chest stood guard. The sound of something smashing could be heard from a hole on the right side of the entrance, and an odd whirring could be heard from a natural cavern on the left. There was a very out-of-place looking rock on the ground near the passage towards Verdanturf Town, and an Aron could be seen trundling along the passage into a side passage. A whole flock of Zubat were nesting on the ceiling.

Tuathal chuckled. "I'll do that. At least you caught it, though. And now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take the straggler for my own. "Feel free," Cass said, looking at Skitty's Pokeball. "I think I'll name you Nevis," she murmured at the pokeball.

Poochyena had decided to fight, and had lashed out at Poliwhirl, just in time for the hypnosis to take effect, just in time for it to topple to the ground at Poliwhirl's feet.

"Alright! Excellent work, Cottonee!" Stella said, picking up the pokeball containing Mantyke. "Now we can challenge the gym. Soooo, Cottonee return." Stella then tried to return Cottonee to her pokeball, but, in a daze, she drifted sideways to dodge the ray of red light, then floated towards what looked to be a bunch of people in striped uniforms. Stella, completely unaware that Cottonee had been hit with a confuse ray, began to chase after the pokemon. "Cottonee...! Come back!" She called after it.

Immediately, Anton stopped in his tracks and stared directly in front of him. It looked like that there already people in here, and something about their looks made it seem like they weren't friendly at all... With his back against the wall, along with Roserade, he tried to look more at them.

Those are odd hoodies... M... What does that M mean? Definitely not my style, for sure. Miracle? Monster? Or... wait... Isn't that... Team Mortar or something? It sounds like them... And they're obstructing the path. Bet if I just walk in there willy nilly, I'll get creamed... Let's just follow that little Pokemon right over there...

With a few careful movements, Anton and Roserade had started to follow along with the small Aron down the side passage, making sure not to be seen by the two guards.

One of the Team Aqua Grunts guarding the bridge, for Team Aqua Grunts they were, grabbed Cottonee, which had floated pretty much right into the Grunt's arms. "Oh, hey, a donation!" he said, grinning at his two buddies. "Thanks," he quipped at Stella, who was approaching. "Your contribution to Aqua's cause is appreciated." He turned to carry Cottonee away into Slateport, while his two compartriots barred the bridge.

Neither guard noticed Anton, although he looked powerful, and they probably wouldn't have challenged his passage.

The Aron trundled down to an underwater stream, where it curled up by the water's edge next to a Geodude, and where Zubat nestled on the ceiling. A Surskit played with a Mudkip in the water. Something glimmered in the bottom of the stream. Light could be seen from the passage Anton arrived from, so he knew the way out. The stream was awfully cold, judging by the mist coming off of it, and a narrow, rocky path followed the stream, heading towards its source. The air was colder nearer the passage than it was farther away.

Just as Miles was about to compliment Stella on her job catching the Mantyke, she ran off after her confused Cottonee. "Well at least she managed to catch something new." He then noticed who the Cottonee was drifting towards. "Now where have I seen outfits like those before?" Miles said before he realized who the men were. "Oh no...." Miles said as his eyes grew wide. "Frogadier we better hurry, that girl's in trouble." He said before racing towards the grunts with Frogadier following closely behind.

Stella mumbled something with a bit of a dazed look on her face. Clearly, such people wouldn't listen to reason. Clearly, she would have to use force. "Alright! Litwick, Mantyke, let's go!" Stella said, before summoning two pokemon that appeared to be somewhat sleepy. Though Mantyke didn't come to very quickly, Litwick almost immediately noticed what was happening, and was quite enraged due to what was happening.

Though Litwick tended to have a mischievous demeanor, she was always quite protective of things she cared about. Since Litwick and Cottonee had been together for so long, Litwick obviously cared about the shiny grass type. "Alright! Use Minimize Litwick, and you use Bubblebeam, Mantyke!" Stella commanded the two. Litwick immediately disappeared, only to reappear in front of the grunt holding Cottonee. Mantyke then used a weak Bubblebeam at the grunt's feet, hoping to make him slip. Mantyke was fairly tired from being captured just moments ago, but listened to his trainer's directions anyway.

Immediately, Anton began to shiver up at the sudden coldness running down his spine, not expecting the odd temperature drop off the bat.

"Man, this just got chillier... Oh, hush, Roserade, I don't want to see any sort of complaining from you. Remember when we had to go through Route 216? Now... Huh? What's that down there? Something seems to be shining... Roserade, would you do the honors?"

"Rade?! Rrrrose!"

"It's water... Not silly ice. Don't worry now. I promise you we'll go to the nearest warm place once I get this. See what the shining thing is down there. Quit complaining... Ugh, fine. I'll look down there."

Sadly, by his attempt, Anton dipped her head into the stream, making a small squeak from the sudden coldness as he peered to the shining item.

The Grunt indeed fell over, accidentally sending the dazed Cottonee flying. The two other Grunts let out cries of rage, and seconds later, Stella found herself face-to-face with a Mightyena and a Crawdaunt. "That was a mistake, girly," one of them said, as the Mightyena chased Litwick away from their fallen associate, who went chasing foolishly after Cottonee. "Looks like we'll get two more donations. You can't beat Team Aqua, run while you can..."

((These are abnormally powerful grunts. You can't win against them, and not even with your buddy's help, but I do have a plan for this, so don't worry.))

There was a Root Fossil at the bottom of the creekbed. To reach it, Anton would have to be totally submerged in the frigid water.

Stella noticed the trainer who had helped her catch the Mantyke from earlier. "Hey! How about we beat these posers up, huh?" She asked, sounding much less bubbly than she normally did. Cottonee had at this point snapped out of confusion, and tried to flee the scene, only to be chased by the grunt again.

"Cottonee use Fairy Wind, and Litwick you use Night Shade!" Stella commanded the two that were near the Mightyena. The two attempted to attack the Mightyena, though both were quite panicked and their attacks weren't very precise.

This left the Crawdaunt to be taken down by an already tired Mantyke, and possibly with help from the other trainer. "Use Wing Attack, Mantyke!" Mantyke then launched itself at the Crawdaunt, trying to hit it with one of it's flippers.

And so Anton did. Was this a horrible decision on his part? Of course it was. Immediately grabbing it, he reached the surface of the water and set the fossil down before wildly flailing out to get back onto the dry ground. And once he was, he was already going into massive shivering. He might have also made a bit of a loud noise when he got back on land, making it echo throughout the small passageway.

Despite still being a bit tired Tyrunt roared out at the Mightyena and threw an Ancient Power it's way hoping to take some attention off of his teammates.

Picking directions completely at random, much to her pokemon's dismay, Lurele was very distracted by the workers as they walked through the parts of town still being built.  Or more importantly, the fighting pokemon assisting with the construction.  I wonder if they caught those near here?  Hmmm...  Though, I guess I didn't really come to Hoenn to look for a Gurdurr, those show up back home...

Among her random turns and spur of the moment changes in direction Lurele found herself leading her pokemon and Locke, assuming he hadn't gotten fed up with her clear lack of direction, towards the eastern end of route 102 and the direction of what had used to be Petalburg.  Of course, she had no idea of where they were heading, she was just hoping to find somewhere to start their new adventure.

@,@,

When Miles caught up he was almost surprised to see that the trainer girl was managing to hold her own against the Aqua grunts.

"With pleasure." Miles said with a bit of an arrogant smile on his face. "Alright Frogadier go help Mantyke take down that Crawdaunt." Frogadier nodded and sped off towards the Crawdaunt. "Soften it up with Quick Attack!" Frogadier then rushed the Crawdaunt a couple times dealing damage with each pass.

Meanwhile Miles had sent out Tyrunt who had just woken up from a nap and was a bit drowsy. "Tyrunt, I want you to cover Cottonee and Litwick. Distract the Mightyena so it doesn't hurt the other two." Despite still being a bit tired Tyrunt roared out at the Mightyena and threw an Ancient Power it's way hoping to take some attention off of his teammates.

Fast as Frogadier was, Crawdaunt had already struck Mantyke with a powerful Crabhammer, and it had fallen to the ground. However, Crawdaunt was caught off-guard by the Quick Attack, and lost its footing. It skidded, turned to face Frogadier, and charged with a powerful Take Down.

Meanwhile, Mightyena was faring about the same. Litwick's attacks were sorta weak, and weren't affecting it as strongly as it could have, and Cottonnee was of limited use, as the third Grunt had called out a Swalot to help him pull it along, and weak as Cottonee was, it could not resist. Mightyena couldn't land a blow due to having to contend with Tyrunt as well, however.

(This is not supposed to be a winning fight yet. Just keep it up.)

@

And so Anton did. Was this a horrible decision on his part? Of course it was. Immediately grabbing it, he reached the surface of the water and set the fossil down before wildly flailing out to get back onto the dry ground. And once he was, he was already going into massive shivering. He might have also made a bit of a loud noise when he got back on land, making it echo throughout the small passageway.

((I said Root Fossil, but honestly it was meant to be a Claw Fossil. Anorith.))

Shouting could be heard from the way Anton had come in. It sounded like the trainers in uniforms. And there was only one way out of this particular natural cave, and that was to go up the stream, into where it was even colder. Shame Anton probably didn't have a fire pokemon.

The Aron and Geodude had woken up, and sleepily gazed in confusion up the passage. The Surskit had fled, and all the zubat woke, and flew upstream in a loud flurry.

Tuathal picked up the ball, a satisfied look on his face. He turned to Cassie. "A successful catch always feels good, doesn't it? I guess I'll have to start thinking of a name. Anyway, where to now? We both have enough pokemon for the gym now, if you think you're ready for it."

Cassie grinned. "Yeah, why not? I mean, even if we don't beat him, we can always try more than once, right?"

They traveled to the Gym, and walked inside. The place had a very plain feel to it. The walls and floor were made of a bright wood, and an emblem resembling a sun adorned the back wall. Reading the rules beneath the plaque decrying victors, Cassie knew that they would have to battle one trainer each before challenging Norman. There were two rooms, one labeled "Offense" and one labeled "Defense". "Well, Tall, why don't you pick? I'll take the other," she said cheerfully.

@,

Locke continued following Lurele, but after what felt like a fairly long time, he began to wonder if she had any idea where she was going. Considering she wasn't a local, he figured as much and was about to say something before they came to a town. Maybe Lurele had been knowing where she was going?

@@,

When Mantyke was hit, he instantly fainted. Already tired from the battle earlier, the poor thing didn't stand a chance against Crawdaunt. "Ah! Mantyke, return." Stella said, returning Mantyke to it's pokeball so it couldn't be further harmed.

Cottonee and Litwick were fairing no better. Cottonee looked exhausted, and on the verge of fainting. Even if she did, Stella could not return her. Same went for Litwick. Litwick was at least fairing a bit better than Cottonee, but it didn't look like they could possibly win. "Litwick use Confuse Ray!" Stella commanded. Litwick then sent out a wobbly beam of golden light at both the Swalot and the Mightyena.

@@Ampharos,@,

Lurele continues walking towards what was, unknown to her, now known as Petalburg Lake.  She glances around the landscape on the way towards the water as they walk, half trying to figure out the lay of the land and half keeping an eye out for wild pokemon that may appear.  Thankfully her pokemon were making up for the girl's lack of direction - MiMi was busy keeping track of all the turns they'd taken to get here, and Luke was keeping an eye out for...  Well, anything that moved.  The Lucario was a tad over protective.

While walking, she turns to glance back at Locke.  "So, what do you think about the whole war thing going on here..?  I never imagined it would be anything like this - the two teams fighting for control must be pretty tough, don't you think?"

When they arrived at the gym, Tuathal had to admit he was surprised by how simple it seemed. Most gyms he'd seen outside of Kanto were incredibly elaborate. When Cassie suggested he pick one of the rooms, he thought for a moment and nodded. "Alright. I guess I'll take defense, then."

He was about to enter when he turned around. "Oh, and Cassie? Good luck."

@,

Locke nodded. "Yea it's pretty bad. I'm disgusted with the gym leader though. Taking sides and everything. I'm sure they could've teamed up with the Elite Four and Champion to beat the crap out of these guys, but they chose sides instead. Morty would never do something like that, and I'm sure the rest of the Johto League wouldn't either."

@, @,

"Quick, Double Team!" Miles called out to Frogadier who created several copies of itself to take the hit while the actual Frogadier snuck up from behind. "Now use Water Pulse" Miles commanded. He didn't really think it'd do much seeing as both Frogadier and Crawdaunt were water types but he didn't have too many other options. Nevertheless Frogadier did as he was told and shot several blasts of water at the crab Pokemon.

During all this Tyrunt was also following orders, making sure to distract the Mightyena at all costs. "Litwik and Cottonee are looking weak, use Bide and try to guard the two from further attacks." Tyrunt then runs closer to Litwik and Cottonee preparing to endure any hit that it takes.
