N.W. 3,619 February 2, 2014 Author Share February 2, 2014 Secularism of state is fine in a way, but you'd have to recognize the fact that if there were Catholic Christians, then the Papacy would have a political-like influence on however large that proportion of the population which were Catholic. Which could mean resistance from that population if the Papacy disagrees with a new policy. True, but they would probably not be pleased with the new form of government regardless.
