Nature's Spell 526 January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 (edited) Digi and Tommy are no better, or different, than any critic and are not the final word on what makes an episode good or bad. They are both very specific in what they enjoy and are looking for and anything that deviates from that will be pointed out. I guess that's their "job" but there is more to a story than the technical aspects of story telling. Yes, the writers have been hit or miss from a technical standpoint this season, but almost every episode has been enjoyable, which at the end of the day is their only job. Make up your own mind and like what you like. Winona the Dog 1,984 January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 Nobody should tell you to enjoy an episode or not and you shouldn't let brony analysts like Digibro and Tommy decide of you should like it or not though they can influence you depending if on thier views and points. Heck I can say I didn't like Princess Twilight Sparkle when they liked it and I liked Rainbow Falls when most of them didn't.
Forlong 1,726 January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 My opinion has been influenced by others as well, but they have to use logic and rational thought to back up their claims. For example, I completely disagree with Tom on Daring Don't because, as well as he explained his problems with the episode, there was no canon evidence that it was fiction within fiction. There was no evidence against it, so I can at least accept his confusion as understandable. LordDiscord 289 January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 (edited) You formulate opinions based off of your experiences and interests, relying on others to make the opinion for you will only take you so far. There could be aspects of a episode that you personally liked while those aspects might be something, someone else hates. But that should not deter you from liking the episode just because your opinion conflicts with theirs. You should never let others tell you what to like, even if you are uncertain because that is the easiest way to be mislead. Fun fact: A lot of the hate that our fandom receives is from people who allow others to make their opinions for them and they refuse to decide for themselves and so they piggyback off the opinions of others, whether they truly agree with it or not. No one can tell you what to like, only you can. Sure you can ask others opinions, but that should only be as a point of comparison, rather than a way to justify you decision. hawkflame 3,315 January 31, 2014 Share January 31, 2014 As someone who is something of a brony analyst himself, the last thig analysis should be used for is to tell you what you should and shouldn't like. Your opinion is your opinion, and it's not my job to tell you how to feel. What it should be used for is additional insight or perspective. It allows you to think of things in different ways. Sometimes that could change your opinion, but not because someone told you to- rather because now you're looking at it in a different way. And often it might not change your opinion at all, and that's fine. And even then, there's value to be had in these analyses- maybe your opinion won't change at all, but you can gain some understanding of why others think the way they do. I have to stress though that all this is different from simply going with other peoples opinions- in this case, you decide whether it adds to your perspective or not, and you decide whether it's a good point or total rubbish. But bottom line is, don't just use popularity or expert analyst opinion to just replace your own thoughts. However, I think well reasoned, alternate opinions *can* be used to add to your own experience with the show. 1 Sig by Thunderstorm Check out my Rarity fansite! FNGRpony 658 January 31, 2014 Share January 31, 2014 Okay, have you ever seen a movie you saw years ago only to discover it was crap when you thought it wasn't? Sometimes an out side view can be enlightening. and it pays not to have your head so far up your own ass you can't be told your thoughts are the only ones that matter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvTYhrZUgYY flight to the finish. i continue to improve,
