My post spoils pretty much the entire series, so, yeah.

 

 

Yeah, the whole thing with Athena was pretty creepy. Maybe that contributed to the surprising M rating. Not to mention Dual Destinies in general was more graphic.

 

For other moments, there was the Kristoph Gavin devil hand, watching Mia die, and any of the 15 times Maya's life was in danger.

I actually freaked out when we saw the real Matt Engarde. Hell that entire case was pretty agonizing

I haven't played Dual Destinies yet, and I doubt I will

And the whole "Rise From the Ashes" case was pretty mutilating to me

I have played the series at least once, but never managed to beat it entirely.

 

But I have yet to encounter anything that I deem scary, but from what I've heard, the case in dual destinies sure is creepy.

CASE 4-4. MAYA WAS KIDNAPPED.

 

Okay, by this point, I've come to get a better understanding of the fact that Maya is the punching bag of the original games. Yeah, I get that. But when it turned out John Doe was actually the infamous de Killer, and he had KIDNAPPED MAYA, I was about as disoriented as Phoenix was. I mean, the fictional girl of my dreams was all fine and dandy one minute, then she's called off for a little while, and then we learn she was kidnapped by a PROFESSIONAL ASSASSIN.

 

The thing is, I was so desperate to save her, I genuinely put belief into the possibility that Matt might have been innocent. Yeah. I was THAT desperate. I even kept screwing up the Psyche-locks because I couldn't draw the most obvious conclusions.

 

This is why Matt Engarde can burn in HELL.

The subtle buildup, the "show, don't tell" delivery, the ominous red glow, and his sudden seriousness (He wasn't just a funny coffee guy anymore after this.).
