Not sure yet if they will be tied directly or not but hot damn it looks like they are taking things in an entirely new direction for the Sonic franchise. I am loving what I'm seeing.

 

The original teaser image had me wary over the artstyles but it looks like it's going to work perfectly.

Looks very Jak and Daxter like which is good. Love the redesign of Sonic but Knuckles will take some getting used to. Also Knuckles is officially on steroids, and unlike Sonic he don't chuckle, and he'd rather flex his muscles.

The Knuckles design was weird in the teaser trailer but I actually think it kinda works seeing it in action.

 

It also looks like Amy is gonna be more than just Sonic's stalker and looks to be working with the group directly. Maybe she'll have better characterization too.

 

My only concern is that the game looks like they could be trying to make it a co-op game. I don't like when games have forced multiplayer. It also looks like it could be taking a Sonic Heroes approach too though.

 

Neither Knuckles or Amy had any real lines in either trailer. Not much to go on.

Holy smokes! Knuckles is absolutely jacked! I remember when he was just a pint-sized echidna who punched boulders and couldn't jump as high as Sonic.

 

The TV series looks like it could serve for an amusing premise, provided they don't get sidetracked by trying desperately to please every dimension of the Sonic fandom at one time. And while this shows some promise, it has a long way to go before it could ever displace AoStH and SatAM in my heart.

I really like the design of Tails, Amy and Eggman, but I'm not too fond of Sonic and Knuckles.

 

According to the official Sega blog the game will be a prequel to the show. I'm hoping that this suggests a summer release date.

Well, I'm now EXCITED BEYOND COMPREHENSION.

The look of the cartoon is still rather satisfying, despite it looking different from the video games (And Knuckles' model. Knuckles must've taken some super roids.) On top of that, we have the actual voice cast FROM the games!

I remember when SEGA said that they were probably going to reboot the Sonic franchise sometime in 2014. I guess this is what they meant by that :/ Regardless, I can't wait for both the show and game. I'm sure it'll be a hoot.

The style still reminds me of Crash Bandicoot, though :/

This looks pretty awesome! I wasn't expecting much when I watched the trailer, but I have to say that it pleasantly surprised me. I'm liking the direction that they're taking Sonic in.

Me, too. The art style is different, but for some reason, it still fits well within the Sonic universe.

It looks like the game is going to be a Nintendo exclusive. SEGA signed with Nintendo to have their next few Sonic titles be strictly on Nintendo's hardware. After the Lost World Mixbag, maybe they can make a more solid game that could possibly be on par with Colors and Generations.

Again, that Knuckles model... whoa. The other three are fine, but Knuckles' model will take a considerable amount of time to get used to.

I'm really sick and tired of the silly and cartoony stuff we've had the last few games. Cartoony is good, not having any serious parts is bad. It doesn't work for Sonic.

It is being made by ex-Naughty Dog employees so I doubt that the style being similar to Crash Bandicoot is unintentional.

I actually really like Knuckles' design because there's no way that he could break boulders with those skinny arms. But then again, we're talking about a series focused on a blue hedgehog that can move faster than sound. Anyway, I'm loving how this game looks. The Sonic franchise is looking up.

No, actually that's exactly what I want out of the franchise. The problem with those games is they messed with very non-linear storylines that were never properly explained. 06's time paradox thing had some unexplained plot points. Shadow's story was all over the place because of all the different endings and the fact that you don't have to take any single route to get there. The final, true story in the game doesn't specify what levels he actually went to and why and it was a convoluted mess.

I've seen this earlier before, and I actually have a good impression of it so far.

 

A bold new look and new characterization? This might be the best of what sega has been saving up for!

 

Minor nitpicking, the new designs while odd, might be getting some time to get used to, as for the series itself, hopefully it's better than the last anime they attempted.

I don't think Sonic is really the kind of franchise that needs a complex story ark. Stuff like that is always nice, but this is a story about a blue hedgehog he runs fast, collects rings, and jumps into robots with little animals inside. You don't really need a large story when you have that in my book.

The game kind of reminds me of sonic heroes.. but will have to see when it gets closer to release

Sonic has not transitioned to 3D well at all

 

As for the series.. it actually looks half decent.. But tbh My faves of the different ones, "SatAM" and the unfinished "Underground", are gonna be hard to beat.

Decent stories AND good laughs. Most before were just silly, and those after were... well.. they tried to hard to combine both and ended up just being odd.. not bad, but not great..

X was IMO far to deep into its very anime roots. It just didn't feel right...
