Dreams, dreams, dreams.

Have anypony ever had a dream that was affected by something to do body wise, like pain or the environment around you affecting you?

For example, last summer, it was pretty hot up in my room. It always is the coldest or the hottest in my room and its so annoying. Well, my room got so hot at times, I literally could not sleep with the covers on (until I ended up finally getting an air conditioning later on). I had this dream where I was running around on a VERY hot sunny day and mind you, im fair skinned and get burned VERY easily, within 15 minutes max. Well, in my dream, I had my shorts on obviously and the HOT sun was beating down DIRECT on my legs, but no other part of my body. It got sooo bad that in my dream, i got third degree sunburn and was in the hospital. I could literally FEEL my legs on fire. Come to find out, I finally awoke sweating so badly and ONLY my legs were covered up and BURNING hot because my room was so hot, that..being covered up would suffocate you.

I then had another one where, I was at work and some reason I had a big gun wound in my leg and it wasnt bleeding or nothing, but i was working and limped on my leg and could FEEL that pain, but then it comes to find out, I was laying on my leg funny in my sleep, which caused it to get a nerve pinched or something and it HURT...so I had to straighten out my leg and let it breathe because I was laying on it weird.

So, any pony have something like that?

@@~Sugar Sprinkles~,

Well, I do know what you're talking about for the environment affecting dreams. During the summers when I work as a summer camp lifeguard, I always have awful dreams of a camper drowning on my watch and being unable to save them. My cabin mates tell me that I mumble a lot and mime swimming motions while I'm having those sorts of nightmares.  So I guess yeah, I have dreams that are affected by my job and environment.

The environment, but like...basically whats going on around you, like as I mentioned my room was like 1,000 degrees, lol.

And man, that sounds like a bad nightmare D:

Well, there's nothing really special going on around me while I sleep, because while on the job I just sleep in a small cabin with two other camp counselors, nothing remarkable. I suppose the only environmental thing could be how little sleep I get, because we work on average 16 hours workdays, so I don't get much sleep, and what I do get is very restless.

Many dreams fall under this category, although the dreamer may not realize it. For example, a dream may end with a loud noise, which causes you to wake up and coincides with an alarm. That dream only actually took a fraction of a second, and was the dreaming part of the brain's way to explain the noise.

Also, one theory states that dreaming is used to process and store long term memories better.

the subconscious mind is epic ; when dreaming, the conscious part of everyponies mind is limited perception wise :P , so it ( imo ) tries to make sense of such . example ; i had a dream like yours aswell. i was walking on a road of nothing but ice, and my legs were cold, along with my uncle preaching ( which he never does ) . turned out the window was open ( winter ) and half of my legs were exposed, along with my radio tuned to a christian station ( dont ask why 0.o ) .

Ahhhh dreams, what better time to post this than before bed time ^_^

For me, my dreams depend on what I've recently seen, or vivid and/or recent memories, or sometimes even emotion...

Well and example for me:

Once I played the level in MW2 'No Russian'

At night then went to bed and had a bad nightmare where I shot people :( ... I think that's a bad thing  ...

And that kids! is why video games are bad to play before bed ;) but I still do, so... Whatever :P

Anywho, Maybe dreams are just based on the dreamer...

In the last dream I remember, I was using a heavy dozer-like vehicle to plow through a minefield. In all honesty, it wasn't that exciting, because nothing really happened. Don't ask why. It's a dream; it's not really supposed to make sense.

I remember when I was just a little kid where like I was in this white room and sometimes it got so loud and other times it was silent. I don't know exactly know what that has to do with past experiences. It was reacurring and there weren't ever any real "noises" in my bedroom that could've effected my dream. But yeah, it's a weird dream I wanted to share.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it save equistria with its five candy coloured friends and shoot rainbows at bad guys using their necklaces and tiara unless you're celestia

Oh my sweet goodness, thank you for starting a thread for this. I have had so many wacked up dreams lately.  ^_^

As far as having any physical pain from lingering dreams, no I've never had that. The only thing that kinda sucks about my dreams is that I get them mixed up with reality. So I tend to forget if what goes on in life is a part of my dream or not.

Anywho, here is one of the dreams I've had...

So I dreamed that I was running away from the police with my mom. I had done something illegal but I don't remember what. My mom and I raced toward the corner of a huge cemetery. There were two cops on the very same corner along with a young man. The cops were questioning the man and didn't take much notice of us. The man than whipped around and said, "Hey you guys running away? I know a place to hide." He than ran along the edge of the cemetery and we followed. The police didn't care. They didn't even glance at us. Once we were in the middle of the cemetery I noticed that there were several shaggy, rundown buildings around me. The man led us into one where we met an old lady. The sun started to set and I felt terrified that spirits were going to attack us in the night. The woman lifted up a small glowing lantern and told us that we'd have to stay in the grave yard for the night. I could feel shivers all up and down my body, terror filling me up. I cautiously curled up on the ground and tried to block out the fear and just as I fell asleep in the dream I woke up in real life.

I think the weirdest thing about the dream is that I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the fear that filled me up. It was the first "nightmare" (not that scary of a dream but still) that I actually liked.  And I also think it's weird that I woke up the instant I fell asleep in the dream. ITS FREAKING INCEPTION GUYS. NOT REALLY BUT WHATEVERRRR.

Haha. Last night's dream, I would like to call "Video Game."

I keep hearing noises around my home, then under my bed I find... the Cutie Mark Crusaders. I had no idea what to do with them, but the dream did some kind of time-skip when the CMC were discovered by my mom. Don't know what happened right after, but it did another time-skip and I was at a radial menu, and the caption said "Choose your character." There were many characters to choose from, from many different TV shows. I chose Patrick Star, and now I'm "playing" as him in this video game. It's a third person platformer, it looks like. Patrick has to get to the CMC. After reaching them, it did a super-long time skip to the final "chapters" of the game.

Now me, regular me, is walking down the street, and Big Mac is there. Apparently he's looking for Apple Bloom and the others. I walk by and go home. Now I'm on a computer on MLPForums, in my kitchen, while "Pinkie Pride" is playing on a TV on my right (I don't have a TV there in real life). My sister is watching Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (she actually does that) and when her show's over, she goes out with my mom on some fun girl places. I'm looking through the TV guide, I see the dad from Fresh Prince doing stand-up (actually remember that).

Then I get a call from my real life friend saying "I found Patrick!" So I meet him at his location where he's hiding from Patrick. It turns out... PLOT TWIST... Patrick kidnapped the CMC. I chase Patrick through the whole city, and for some reason, my friend is running beside me telling me "It's the mom!" Apparently the real antagonist was the CMC's mom; whatever that means.

After catching Patrick and turning him in, there is no ending cutscene. At all. It just gives me "points" and the game ends. Then I go on my laptop in the dream, then wake up in real life.

I haven't had dreams of that nature, but I have had dreams that had some scenarios in life, that ended up actually happening to me around a year or so later...it's kinda creepy.

Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me. I've had bad luck when I start a conversation, so I more then likely won't start one.

I've certainly had dreams that have involved pain in some way for instance a while ago I had a dream that a cat scratched me I could feel the pain coming from that scratch.

I've only remembered 4, actually.

1. I dream of myself waking up, walking out my house, and into the steps. I fall through an endless hole afterward. I can literally feel myself falling... The dream was actually affecting my environment... Weird. I also have this dream almost every night...

2. Random brief sect of a SSB:B fight versus Meta Knight. It was not in color, the only dream I've ever had not in color.

3. Becoming Luigi, but in the plotline of Luigi's Mansion. That dream was kind of weird too.

4. I had a dream about going to prom (why the hell would I do that?) Afterwards, being transported to Equestria, to see Discord hosting an Ice-Skating competition. Some of the competitors included: Kirby, Mario, and Luigi, and I think Banjo (from Banjo-Kazooie). Master Chief was in the audience, and so were all of the mane six. Nostalgia even haunts my dreams...

Well, when I was little, I had a ceiling fan that had three light bulbs that looked mysteriously like two eyes and a gaping mouth. I was terrified of this fan, and sometimes when I fell asleep it would start talking in a really strange, nasal, terrifying, booming voice and try to vacuum me up with its mouth. Of course, being little, I thought it was real, but my parents didn't believe me.

Last night's dream was sort of affected by what happened yesterday, I guess. I was at church and my crush came up to me and asked me something about a sandwich. (I think he was asking if I wanted to go get one with him.) Well, my friends were playing some sort of game and being too loud, so I asked him to repeat it several times. The next thing I know, I'm holding a sandwich (that's falling apart, like the one my sister made me yesterday) and speaking to it as though it was a phone. It was so strange...

The night before last night, I dreamed I got a job at a diner as a waitress. The cook was a giant spider that would eat me if I didn't do things on time, and the customers ordered the strangest things. One person asked for dry bananas, but she had some sort of strange accent going on, and it came out "fried pajamas". Another person gave me a long list. Among the items on the list were "noodles to throw at the television", "netting cake", and "cake slices to match the noodles"...
