Well, 'Readers' confuses me. What exactly are they? What are we supposed to do if we join?

Either pick one of your MLP characters and alter them to fit in this setting or create a new character of the pony races (no alicorns, either school), bat ponies (mostly School of Evil), griffins (mostly School of Evil), zebras (either school though more accepted in School of Evil), deer (mostly School of Good).

Would I be allowed to have a companion? Maybe a little dragon?

All students but the Readers have been a part of the Fairy Tale Realms, either related or directed descended from likely famous fairy tale characters. The Readers are different in the fact that they were not originally from the Fairy Tale Realms but from the Mortal Realms, in this case Equestria. They are those that know of fairy tales through books and stories, the readers of the students past from the school.

 

Do you understand?

 

Your character goes either to the School of Good or the School of Evil, training for when (and more if) your character graduate and are able to survive their own fairy tale.

A small dragon companion would be more pets of witches and sorceresses, dragons themselves most often being from or connected to the School of Evil.

...dang it! I want King aurthur, but I want my dragon. Hmn. How about a dragon slayer? Maybe use Jacob?

King Author was a past student his son joining the school after that, so you would have to be a different character anyway. A dragon slayer type character is fine and even fits with that of fairy tale heroes, likely a knight and/or prince. I will look of Jacob, though I will warn I will likely require a name change... perhaps Prince Lionheart or just Lionheart if a knight?

No Humans, though mattering the school other races could be allowed.
