Ledgetown. A town surrounded by perilous cliffs, and home to frequent rockslides, as well as other odd occurrences. Because of such events, the town and surrounding area is notable for not only for their three rescue teams known as Team Lavender, Team Hurricane, and Team Radiance, but a powerful task force known as the L.S.R.T.. Due to such, Ledgetown has become a popular tourist joint, despite it's geographical inaccessibility. Ledgetown holds many speciality shops, most of which are catered to adventurers. 

 

Currently, Ledgetown is blessed with fairly sunny weather. Today is not exception, as the skies remain perfectly clear. In town, a Rattata and Bagon seemed to be bickering with a Kecleon over the price of the goods being sold in the Kecleon's shop. A Poochyena stood near-by, with a look that was a mixture of annoyance and nervousness on it's face. In the town square, a Glameow seemed to be gossiping with a Blissey. A few other pokemon roamed around the town, though most seemed to have not left their homes yet.

 

On the western outskirts of town, a rockslide had seemingly taken place. Two white pokemon, one a winged fairy and the other one a ghost wearing a red bow around it waist, were trying to clear the rockslide. Something yellow seemed to be under the rubble.

 

Meanwhile, on the eastern outskirts of town, two pokemon sat outside a fairly large building (though it was also slightly garish). One looked dozens of times more excited than the other. After all, it was bounding around the less excited one. 

 

"Do you think they'll be coming soon? Huh, 'taria?" The Oddish asked, momentarily stopping her bouncing to ask the question to the winged dragon.

 

"You asked that just a few minutes ago. Like I said, I don't know." He said in response, before beginning to converse with himself inside his head. Plus, she sent out a chain letter. The idiot. No one's going to show up. Maybe. But we can always hope. Yea, sure. But don't come crying to me when only dragon and ice types sign up. Or worse. Fairies. The dragon shuddered before returning his attention to the grass type. Not that there was much to pay attention to, as she returned back to her bouncing and excited rambling.

For the past 20 minutes, there was just one high-pitched and continuous hovering coming from one little Shuppet, right from her home on the outskirts of Ledgetown. she was completely alone, a small little home with nothing more than a room for her to sleep and a simple room of... er, living...

 

"Team Radiance is looking for members and I got a letter asking to join their!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEE! I need to go apply, now! Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my GOSH!!! Mommy and Daddy will be SOOOOOOOOO proud of me! I'll be more than happy to show them the new generation of the Banette Banshees!!!"

 

Immediately, she was already hovering quickly towards the town, extremely excited to begin her new adventure, before entering and looking around. Some weird bird and a small plant were standing in front of the address! 

 

"Hey! Hey! Hey hey hey hey hey! Is this where you can sign up to join Team Radiance?! I got a personal letter saying that they're looking for new members and it's like, a dream come TRUE!!!" She squealed out again, extremely ecstatic.

Cottonee had just built up the courage to get out from behind the tree she was hiding behind when a hyperactive Shuppet appeared nearly out of nowhere and started screaming like a maniac. "Ohh...." Cottonee went back behind the tree and floated there for a little while, and then closed her eyes and quickly came out from her hiding place and hovered low to the ground over to the three Pokemon.  "Um... This... I-is this the Team Radiance sign up?"

Oddish's bouncing around suddenly stopped when she heard a voice that mirrored her excited tone. "Yes it is!" The grass type said, clearly enjoying the new arrival's spirit. She extended a leaf towards Shuppet for a handshake, before realizing Shuppet had no hands or leaves or anything of the sort, and quickly retracted it again. "Thank you for coming!" Oddish had seemingly never stopped bouncing, and was now jumping in place.

 

Altaria grimaced slightly. This pokemon was basically another Oddish! It wasn't like he didn't like Oddish, persay, but two would be a hassle. Plus, it was a Shuppet. That was a pokemon who brought with it memories the dragon wished to forget.

Altaria's hearing was quite sharp. It easily picked up on Cottonee's soft, and gentle voice. Altaria saw this voice as no threat, which made his relax a little. "Yes, this is in-" As Altaria spoke, he turned his head towards where the Cottonee was. The sight of the pokemon caused him to pause and grimace a bit more. Lovely. A fairy. He thought before continuing his sentence. "Sorry. I'm a bit sidetracked. This is indeed where you may sign up for Team Radiance." Altaria bowed while saying this, as to avoid eye contact.

 

Oddish was far too excited to notice the quiet Cottonee.

It was a nice day out - that was a good thing.  Vulpix simply wouldn't have it to show up for registration haggard from rain, or mud, or any of the sort.  This was the time for her to make first impressions, and as such she simply had to look her best.  As the small fire fox calmly and elegantly made her way up the trail towards where the letter had designated she go, the voices of the others reached her canine ears long before they came into view.

 

As she steps around the bend in the path to start approaching the group, Vulpix puts on her friendliest smile as she approaches them.  Let's see here...  Oddish, Shuppet, Altaria, and Cottonee?  Are these to be the ones I'll be associating with?  Clearing her throat as she gets closer, Vulpix speaks up with a soft yet friendly voice.  "Pardon me darlings, would you be Team Radiance?"  Vulpix bats her eyelashes a couple times as she comes to a stop, her fan of tails swaying ever so slightly.  "I do hope there's still room for one more, hmm?"  A hint of smile plays across Vulpix's face as she tilts her head slightly, bringing up one paw to brush back the tuft of curly fur between her ears.

"YAY! This is sooooooooooo great! I can already tell that we're going to be AWESOME best friends! My name is--"

 

Before Shuppet could even mention her name, she managed to overhear a small, little Cottonee coming up towards them. "Hi there! You're also wanting to join?! I thought that was a PERSONAL letter... Whoopsies! I don't care, that's just making me even MORE happy!"

 

And along came the last member coming up, a Vulpix. She seemed to be a lot more sophisticated than the rest of the others around, but would it look like Shuppet cared?

 

"Oh my gosh, ANOTHER Pokemon here?! This is going to be A-MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY-ZING! OK, OK, I should introduce myself! I am Shuppet! And I wanna be part of a Rescue Team, just like my parents!" She exclaimed, along with dancing around in the air and hovering around everyone else in a circle.

"Don't forget about me!" Froakie said as he popped out from Altaria's wings. Being a ninja in training he could hide almost anywhere. The fact that the bubbles on his back looked like Altaria's wings only helped to conceal himself. "Sorry to just appear out of nowhere like that, but I figured I should make my presence known now before it's too late." Froakie explained as he hopped down from the fluffy dragon. "I'm Froakie if you couldn't guess and I'd like to join Team Radiance." the frog said confidently.

Neither Oddish or Altaria seemed to acknowledge Vulpix. Altaria was too focused on not looking at Cottonee, and Oddish was too focused on bouncing around.

Luckily, for Vulpix's pride, Shuppet did indeed notice her, forcing Oddish to notice her, and Altaria to look up, as the screeching sounds coming from Shuppet who was right beside his head were almost unbearable. "Oh, Arceus. Give me a break..." The pokemon sighed under his breathe.

 

Oddish, on the other hand, bounded up to Vulpix. "Hai! You've come to the right place, so no worries!" She said, extending a leaf for Vulpix to shake. However, before Vulpix even had time to react, Oddish noticed the Cottonee. She quickly bounded over to the fellow grass type instead, and extended her leaf to it. "Hai! Welcome to Team Radiance!" She said with a wide grin.

 

"Don't forget about me!" Froakie said as he popped out from Altaria's wings. Being a ninja in training he could hide almost anywhere. The fact that the bubbles on his back looked like Altaria's wings only helped to conceal himself. Before Altaria could react to the ensuing chaos, a voice could be heard from right behind him. RIGHT behind him. Altaria jumped with a loud gasp and began hovering in the air, as the Froakie jumped out of him. He then rolled his eyes before landing again. "You've come to the right place." The dragon muttered.

Vulpix huffs quietly at her reception - they seemed like an excitable bunch, but since they weren't excited about her then she was having a hard time getting into the feeling.  "Well then..."  

 

Turning her nose away from the shrieking Shuppet and Oddish, Vulpix walked a short distance away to sit down and wait for someone to explain what happened next...  She assumed there would be some kind of initiation at least - all of the excited screaming couldn't be all there was to joining a rescue team.  She watched as Froakie jumped out from Altaria's feathers, one of the fire fox's ears flicking slightly at the appearance of another pokemon.  Froakie, hmm?  She was trying to decide on what the group's hierarchy was.  So she could start sucking up, of course.  If she had to guess, she was going to say that Altaria was in charge.

 

"Erm, sir?"  Vulpix calmly walks over next to Altaria, sitting down again next to him and looking up at the larger feathered dragon.  "Pardon if I'm out of line darling, but...  Is there not a more...  Organized, way to go about this?"  Vulpix blinks as she cranes her head back to look up at Altaria, though she's still trying to keep at least a note of what the others were doing as well.  Vulpix liked knowing what kind of situation she was in...

"Well... I'm glad you asked." Altaria simply stated, before trying to get Oddish's attention. Not an easy task, but after a while the grass type acknowledged him, and jumped onto his head. "Alrighty, I'm going to guess this is everyone, for now." The Oddish peered over the group. Despite the fact she greatly enjoyed the company of the Shuppet, the pokemon didn't seem all that powerful. They couldn't possibly stand up to the likes of Team Lavender, or even Team Hurricane. "As a test of strength, I think we should all go through a Mystery Dungeon! There's a super easy one on the western outskirts of town."

 

Oddish then noted a problem. Since Altaria didn't like coming into the dungeons, there was exactly five of them. And only four pokemon could be in a team to go to a Mystery Dungeon at once. "So, since there has to be no more pokemon than four per team, you guys can be a team, and I'll go in alone, just to meet you to the end!" Oddish then pointed at Shuppet. "I want you to gauge how powerful everyone is, since you were so excited, and all."

"W-Wait... Are you saying... I'M THE LEADER?!" Shuppet exclaimed, her eyes beginning to sparkle a bit and thoughts beginning to run through her head.

 

I GET TO BE A LEADER!!!! Oh my gosh, this is the best day of my life!! But wait... I'm not really that strong... What if the others find out that I'm not strong? They'll laugh at their leader! Or... Wait... 'Gauge their power'... OHHHHHHH, I'm a observer! Okay!

 

"Wait, I know what you mean now! I know it now! Don't worry, I can do that! I can!"

"A...  A Mystery Dungeon?  Wait, right now!?  Without any preparations or anything!?"  Vulpix glances around at the excited pokemon, the fire fox's ears going back slightly.  What was she getting herself in to?  And with the shrill little Shuppet supposed to be in charge of their party!?

 

"Shouldn't we...  I don't know, discuss this or something?  Maybe think things through for a little while?  I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, sweeties, but this is all progressing rather quickly considering we just met..."  Vulpix's tails sway slightly as she backs away a couple steps - she had a feeling that her words were going to be ignored.  Again.  

 

"And going by yourself, darling?  Are you sure that's a wise decision?  Even the most well known explorers have run into trouble while going solo before, shouldn't you at least take somebody with you?"

Were these Pokemon insane!? "Oh boy..." Cottonee continued to float low to the ground, slightly away from everyone. Her face was nearly invisible from hiding in her fluff. What had she done? Why did she join these guys? This was a bad idea! The only one making sense was the Vulpix lady.

Were these Pokemon insane!? "Oh boy..." Cottonee continued to float low to the ground, slightly away from everyone. Her face was nearly invisible from hiding in her fluff. What had she done? Why did she join these guys? This was a bad idea! The only one making sense was the Vulpix lady.

Oddish smiled at the Vulpix with a wide grin. "That's the idea! This particular dungeon is super easy to get through. It's only three floors, after all!" Oddish began to bounce in place on Altaria's head, making Altaria lower his head a bit in annoyance and discomfort. "I've been through it by myself a lot, but I guess if you really are worried for my safety, you could come with me, Vulpix." 

 

Altaria turned his head to look at the Cottonee, before immediately regretting his decision. Fairies were certainly scary pokemon, but this one looked shy. Altaria gently poked her with his wing.

Cottonee felt a little bit reassured by the small size of the dungeon, and the fact that the little Pokemon had been through many times all on her own! Maybe it was going to be easy after all! Feeling a poke on her head, she peeked out of her fluff a little more and looked up at the dragon type. "Um... Yes?"

The loner quietly strode through Ledge Town. No one paid him any mind. This suited him just well; he liked the shadows, and it was exceptionally easy to get through a town unnoticed if one knew how. Nuzleaf did. He'd been doing it for ages. And where he walked, he walked alone.

Reaching the point where they were supposed to meet, Nuzleaf stopped and sneered, evaluating the group. Other than the dragon, these pokemon looked like a light breeze might blow them all away. None of them looked like Rescue Team material, especially the Oddish ricocheting off everywhere like a bullet. Wasn't that supposed to be his boss?

Disdainfully, Nuzleaf approached the group. "Is this the team?" He seemed to half hope it wasn't. "Radiance?" What had he expected from a team with a name like that?

"Well, it wouldn't rest well on my mind to think you were going in there without anyone to watch your precious back, darling...  I could accompany you and you could evaluate my abilities for yourself, would that be agreeable?"  Oddish seemed hyper and excitable, but then again so did Shuppet.  Vulpix didn't really mind the excitement, in fact it was a little refreshing compared to what she was used to, but she figured that if she was going to be trying to make a good impression with her abilities that she may as well start with the one that had pull among the group's hierarchy.

Are you looking to join?" Oddish asked, leaning way closer to Nuzleaf than regular comfort levels would allow. The question was rhetorical, of course. Oddish had never seen the pokemon before, so it had to be looking to join.

 

"Let's see, then..." Oddish said, trailing off. She appeared to be thinking quite deeply, but it was fairly likely Oddish wasn't capable of thinking deeply. Or thinking in general. "Since we've got an even number, let's do teams of three. Froakie, Shuppet, and Nuzleaf, you be one team. Me, Vulpix, and Cottonee will be the other team." Oddish grinned. Such teams seemed rather good.

"Finally..." Froakie quietly said to himself upon hearing Oddish say they were going to a mystery dungeon. He was quite eager to show off his skills and was frankly getting a bit annoyed by the combined efforts of Oddish and Shuppet.

 

 

 

"Since we've got an even number, let's do teams of three. Froakie, Shuppet, and Nuzleaf, you be one team.

Froakie's eyes lit up when Oddish said this. "Ah, yes I think this team will do quite nicely." he said pleased. "Alright you two." he said to his new team members. "I'm assuming I have the most experience when it comes to this sort of thing so I'll take it upon myself to be team leader." Froakie said before realizing that Nuzleaf had, in fact, just arrived. "Oh right, I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Froakie and that little ghost there is Shuppet." the frog said to Nuzleaf. "I trust you can hold your own seeing as your the only one of us that's evolved."

Cottonee blushed slightly and averted her gaze from the Altaria. "Oh... sorry..." At Oddish's suggestion of splitting up, and saying the teams, Cottonee sighed in relief. I'll be with the experienced one and the sensible one. Good! Hopefully this would go as well as she hoped...

Vulpix gives a small sigh of relief as the teams get divided more evenly; it was the logical thing to do, after all.  "Well then, if that's all, I suppose we should get this over with...  Right?"  She starts to walk the way Oddish had indicated, making a point to walk a little close to Nuzleaf and brush one of her many tails underneath the pokemon's chin.

"Oh, and welcome to...  Whatever this is, darling."  The recipient of the fire fox's flirting was completely random - Nuzleaf had simply still been on the road whereas the others were still...  Doing the excited running around thing.  Turning her head back to keep an eye on Oddish and Cottonee, since they were her new designated team mates, she speaks up again hoping to be heard.  "Oddish, sweetie, could you lead the way?  After all, you're the one who's been there, hmm?"  

 

I'm paired with two grass types...  I like the protection that offers, but I'll have to be sure to keep my flames in check...

Growlithe sat over a small cliff and watched the day go by. Heck, he might have just sat there the entire day and enjoy the view if he didn't remember about the letter he got. Looking up to see where the sun was, he frowned. He wasted more time than he had wanted to. Still he wasn't too far away from where he was suppose to be, getting up from his spot he made for the meeting place.
"I wonder if they'll care if I'm a little late?" he said to himself.  As he closed in on the place. He saw a few pokemon around. 
"Hi. Is this the place to join Team Radiance?" he said.

Froakie's eyes lit up when Oddish said this. "Ah, yes I think this team will do quite nicely." he said pleased. "Alright you two." he said to his new team members. "I'm assuming I have the most experience when it comes to this sort of thing so I'll take it upon myself to be team leader." Froakie said before realizing that Nuzleaf had, in fact, just arrived. "Oh right, I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Froakie and that little ghost there is Shuppet." the frog said to Nuzleaf. "I trust you can hold your own seeing as your the only one of us that's evolved."

Nuzleaf smirked. "You're darn right I can hold my own." Dude seemed awful sure of himself, if not condescending. However, he didn't question Froakie's assuming leadership. Frankly, Nuzleaf didn't really care enough to question it. "I'm Nuzleaf. Not even gonna question how Oddish already knew that."

"Finally..." Froakie quietly said to himself upon hearing Oddish say they were going to a mystery dungeon. He was quite eager to show off his skills and was frankly getting a bit annoyed by the combined efforts of Oddish and Shuppet.

"Yea, of course!" Oddish said, in response to Vulpix's question. "To get there, we need to go through town. But it shouldn't take too long..." With that, Oddish began heading out towards the town, not bothering to check if the other pokemon were following her.

However, before Oddish made all of two steps (Or rather bounces), she was stopped by another pokemon. A Growlithe, to be precise. "Not at all!" The grass type chimed. "You're Growlithe, right? Good timing! We were just about to head out to a Mystery Dungeon! You can join Shuppet's team! She's the cloth-ghost thingy." Oddish barely gave any time for Growlithe to react, but waited for long enough for him to meet up with his team. Hopefully, anyway. Hmmm... I thought there was one more? Oh well. It'd be silly to waste time waiting.

"Shuppet's team?" He said looking at the ghost pokemon. He never meet a ghost type before, Espeon told him to always be careful should he ever meet one. He was a little scared, but walked up the ghost anyway.

"Hello, I am Growlithe and I am at your service" He said as he bowed before Shuppet. He than looked at the others that also were on the team. He turned to meet Nuzleaf and Froakie. he nodded his head towards them.
