Could someone tell me what's wrong with the Wii U's online? I don't have one, so I don't know. I've tried asking on other forums, but I've never received a direct answer.

This one's a bit tough to tackle. What exactly is the problem with it? Sometimes, if you have a certain router, the connection can be quite a bit dodgy, and disconnect frequently; Or, if you're running on Wi-Fi, that, too, can also be quite dodgy, and disconnect frequently as well.

 

But, without knowing what the specific problem is with your Wii U and the connection, I'm afraid I can't help unless you're specific, then I'd be more than glad to help!

No, I'm asking because I've heard people complaining about it, but when I ask, nobody's given me a direct answer.

Nintendo still hasn't exactly grasped onto the online multiplayer concept. The online service for the Wii is complete garbage, but thw Wii U's is fine enough. There's just a lack of titles that can utilize online play.

I think people's biggest problems is the fact that they don't really have state-of-the-art user interfaces and such. I think the problem with the Wii's online is it was usually peer-to-peer connectivity so when you played online it relied on the connections of the two Wiis rather than a server of some sort.

 

Note: I could be off about some of that information. Don't take my word for it.

 

The Wii-U has better connections at the least, I think. I don't know if it uses servers or just does the same thing but I have friends who say the Wii-U's online is VASTLY different than the Wii and adequate for online play.

Nothing.  The Wii U has fantastic online.  The Nintendo Network runs smooth as butter, the Miiverse is a great social medium, the eShop is insanely easy to navigate, and the thing is actually good for browsing the internet.

As an owner of a Wii U, the online features are good. Miiverse is cool and everything else is nice. But honestly, I bought the Wii U to play with local friends and family. I have a PS3 for online.
