GXPBlast 597 March 7, 2014 Author Share March 7, 2014 Besides, even if you were an outcast, that could be cool too. You could start acting all mysterious and sit in the corner of every topic with a big cloak on with a hood pulled up over your head and look like a total badass. That may be an extremely creepy thing to do XD. Don't think I plan on doing that lol.

GXPBlast 597 March 8, 2014 Author Share March 8, 2014 (edited) You're not an outcast! Nothin' wrong at all with gettin' involved in a great community for the community's sake, rather than because you share an interest with it. I appreciate the love and tolerance. lol But there are over 20k members of this site, there has to be a good amount that have a similar position as mine. Hopefully some will show up on this thread with replies soon ^^ Edited March 8, 2014 by furgrid

Night Shine 767 March 8, 2014 Share March 8, 2014 (edited) I feel like the outcast here now . Seriously though are there any members here who are not a fan of the show but is a brony for the fandom itself? I did! /) I became a fan because of the fandom rather than the show as well. However, I did it for almost the opposite reasons. However, I still don't fully enjoy the show as its missing things I want like more drama, realism, sexual themed jokes, relationships such as the mane six or the princesses having boyfriends/husbands (besides shining armor and princess cadence), and more. ... Also there is a ton of awesome fimfictions and creepy pastas that I aslo enjoy. I also do enjoy fallout equestria. I joined for the Love And Tolerance-based idealism, primarily. I actually highly dislike pretty much all of the things that you said the show was 'lacking,' and the lack of those things is my primary basis for enjoying the show (actually, secondary, since I used to use it to relieve depressive symptoms). However, I can agree with you in that neither of us are Bronies because of liking some TV show. Katana 298 March 8, 2014 Share March 8, 2014 Funny enough, in some ways I'm super-similar, and in some ways very much different. I used to watch the show for its silliness - usually when there's a token female character in a cartoon, they're played straight and mostly just keep the story moving. ("C'mon, you two! Stop messing with those things! We have to find the Chalice!") So, it was very refreshing to see a show where female characters are a big part of all the slapstick / stupid-jokes. ("Tenacity!" "Gesundheit.") In the same vein, there are about a hundred and one adult-themed jokes, or just jokes better told with profanity, that are only very subtlely hinted at in the show, or require a bit of creativity, That's where I think the fan-creations became more important for me. THEN, it felt like there was a massive shift towards "importance" in everything. The ridiculous number of times the whole realm is in peril, everything revolves around Twilight performing super-special awesomesauce magic, gaining wings, etc; once in a while it could be a bit heartfelt when done correctly, but...the show did not gain its position by being a power-level-incrementing anime or something. This is a show where a pig in disguise sneezes confetti. I more or less stopped watching towards the trail end of season 3, though I've seen a few S4 episodes. There's actually a considerable bit of me that feels outcast now that a lot of fan-creations are excitedly based around season 4.

Frith is Magick 1,471 March 8, 2014 Share March 8, 2014 I enjoy the show, but what keeps me in the fandom is the fandom itself. If it wasn't for this show's group of awesome fans, I would just watch the it and do nothing more, it's the people that really make being a brony the great experience that it is, at least for me. 1 Keep flyin'

If it wasn't for this show's group of awesome fans, I would just watch the it and do nothing more, it's the people that really make being a brony the great experience that it is, at least for me. The Fandom is amazing, there is so much stuff that the fandom creates that thoe show cannon provide itself that sometimes I wish the show would leave the HUB network and join anther network since the shows largest audience are adults from what I have been seeing. Put the show on another network, let the writers be abit more "free" and we have an amazing MLP show that can include things that the brony fandom has provided to has since it lacking in the show so the "children" wont get corrupted lol. I mean since they seem to be a minority of the show it looks like a more free MLP will be awesome something like Button Mash on YouTube or some of TiaraWhy's animations (The SFW) ones
Adachi 772 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 I have always been an open minded person, and never really had a problem with bronies when they originally emerged. But eventually the bronies became extremely popular and they were everywhere. So I decided to give the show a chance and after about 5-10 episodes I still could not get into the show. I definitely see the appeal of it. Moreover the show is becoming more influenced by bronies making the later episodes more attractive. However, I still don't fully enjoy the show as its missing things I want like more drama, realism, sexual themed jokes, relationships such as the mane six or the princesses having boyfriends/husbands (besides shining armor and princess cadence), and more. I can understand all of this because the show is on the Hub network meant to target a younger audience. Also the lack of males having more influence especially with older males being the shows core audience. I would like to see a male Alicorn which would defiantly even out power. But there is one thing the show provides the community with is a ton of brony made content. Thanks to a huge brony fan base there has been a large sum of content and even fan made professional done videos on YouTube that look extremely similar to the show that have all of the stuff I want in whcih the show is lacking. Also there is a ton of awesome fimfictions and creepy pastas that I aslo enjoy. I also do enjoy fallout equestria. In all the content produced by the fandom itself is what made me a brony, and not the show itself. I believe you can find all those things in the MLP comics. SomeReallyRandomGuy 137 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 (edited) I began watching the show about 6 months back. Me & some friends were just making some jokes about MLP (nothing about bronies), and having a laugh. Later that night (I had no more then 10 hours sleep over the 3 days before) I was tired, and not exactly thinking straight. I got curious about the show so I decided to watch the first few episodes. I started at around 1am, next thing I knew its 5am & I've been watching MLP that entire time. After that, I stopped for about a week. I at this point understood why people liked the show. I've never had a issue with bronies in the first place, I just never understood it (Main reasson for taking the piss out of the show a little). Then I began watching it again. Now everywhere I go I notice bronies. After watching the show for about 6 months I decided its time to join the community, so here I am today Edit: So far, the members of the community I've met have been amazing, just as I hoped. I just wish my friends could see what the fandom is really about. They all think its paedophiles & homosexuals. I don't see where the link between MLP > Gay is. I understand the paedophiles bit, but thats a very small percentage of the community (Infact, I'm yet to meet one). DJpon-3 56 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 I feel like the outcast here now . Seriously though are there any members here who are not a fan of the show but is a brony for the fandom itself? Personally I do not like the show in and of itself, no. There are a ton of inconsistencies that drive me crazy. That being said, I like certain ponies in the show. I like the ponies not because of the fandom or the show but rather I like certain ponies. In my opinion you can like something just because they look cool but in order to understand those characters you have to see them in their environment. I hope this makes a tiny bit of sense. Lol.
