Support for new YouTube accounts on profile pages.

Since Google has integrated YouTube with Google+, the format of channel URLs has changed and as a result, entering a username for a new YT account on a profile page on this site will result in an error.

 

Old format: youtube.com/user/[channel name]

New format: youtube.com/channel/[random machine-generated code that represents an account]

 

This is my YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJk59nenPMtFO7u1eRjlgRg. I am unable to post it on my account's "YouTube" line for the reason I am starting this topic.

 

I am wondering if the mods will consider adding this feature in the future.

The solution is to add a custom youtube url to your channel.

 

Go to https://www.youtube.com/account_username?action_custom_url=true or go to your advanced settings and click the create custom url button, and then it will ask you to put in a unique name for your url, and that will create a link in the old format for your channel.
