movies/tv Why are so many toons made in Canada?

I think it's like a transition in the history of cartoons, because most of the cartoons that we see these days are usually made in Canada or made in America while there are other cartoons made in Japan. It could be that when show producers have an opportunity to make a show, they take full advantage of it.

Maybe Canada has an abundance of animators and artists and use that to their advantage.

There are a *lot* of animation and film studios and schools up in Canada due to historical reasons. It's rather complicated, but the very basic version is that there was a lot of film (animation and otherwise) techniques pioneered in Canada, and there were film boards set up to fund that kind of thing. Plus, labor was at one point less expensive there.

It's the same reason why a lot of TV in the 80's and 90's like the X-Files was made in Canada (mostly Vancouver and Toronto).

I heard that the studios get tax breaks in Canada. Is that true?

Sorta? There were some weird rules around it, and it was more the funding from the various film boards as I understand it.

Exactly this.  I would be surprised of that, TBH.  However, they do have some great cartoons.  Most US cartoons now are just horrid.
