Dex saw the girl leave and looked around the room he was left in. 'there has to be some sort of interface somewhere.' he said to himself. He then noticed a ladder and thought that wherever it led might give him some answers.

 

Dex climbed down the ladder, ignoring the pain in his arm, and made it to another room. This one had a set of monitors hanging from an apparatus from the ceiling, 'This is definately the control module.' he thought as he sat down in the chair in front of the monitors. he then activated it, and saw a sort of warning screen, a target-like logo, the same one in that girl's eyes.

Katie arrived on the ground floor, gasping gleefully at the cool night air like a prisoner who had broken free of the slammer. She jumped through the heavens higher than any athlete could, landing flawlessly on the ceiling railings and giggling like a deranged schoolgirl. Her eyes glowed red in the low-light, and her blue gown was blackened with ash and whooshed about her legs like a rippling ocean.

 

It was about that time she saw 2 students exploring the factory, she grinned and dropped down to them, landing uncomfortably close to one of the kids, a boy. She lit her pointer finger, holding it a barely safe distance from the boys throat, then she said 4 little words, "5. second. head. start." She bowed her head back and gave an evil laugh allowing both palms to fill with galloping flames.

It was about the time he saw the flames that Rush's instincts took over. He grabbed her by the arms and turned to Whisper.

"I don't know what the hell is going on, but run. I'll take care of her somehow. Go find a doctor, or a firefighter, or whoever it is you call for this."

"Factory. Right." Minx got up and took her feet out of the shoes. She held the shoes by the strap and realised how much shorter she was. She shrugged and turned to Vincent. "I think Arti will be fine here by himself. Ready to go, Vincent?" Minx asked him. She couldn't wait to get to the factory.

"Um. Yeah, sure." He muttered. He supposed it wouldn't really be right to drag Arti to some abandoned factory... with a girl with multiple personality disorder... "It was... nice to meet you Arti." He said as he stood up. "Hope we share at least one of our classes... anyway, i`ll talk to you some other time." he blinked, standing up well over the girl. Now that she had her high heels off, she was about average height... and now that he was standing it was pretty clear how much taller he was than her. Oh well. He was use to that sort of thing. Still, even though the dress still didn't suit her, he felt she looked better without the heels.  "Well, uh, guess you can lead the way." He muttered, having no possible idea how they could get to some factory.

"Okay. Bye Arti. Maybe I'll catch up to you in class." Minx said with a wave. She headed outside the gym and breathed some fresh air in. Minx turned to look at Vincent and realised she was eye level with his shoulder. She craned her neck and stepped back a bit. "Yeesh, you're tall." Minx commented. She turned back around and pointed to the nearby park. "This way. There's a shortcut." Minx said and gestured for him to follow.

He headed out with her, giving a quick wave back behind towards Arti. When they were outside, he smiled abit. It was good to get some fresh air. School gyms always just smelt... funky to him. He blinked, hearing the girl speak to him. "Oh, yeah, I get that a lot." He said with a bit of a smirk. Admitably, it was rarely said so casually, or not by an adult. Still, at least she didn't linger on it. As she pointed towards the park, he nodded,following behind. Parks... he loved parks. When he was doing his required jogging, he tried to deviate towards paths that lead to parks if possible. Nice and peaceful... he just wished he could have found the time to come to one for a more casual visit... regardless, he walked alongside Minx, taking it in.

Minx smiled as she walked through the park. The dirt under her feet felt good. 'What just happened back there? We. Are. Going to the abandoned factory. Oh yeah. That place.' Minx mentally shushed them and they came upon a manhole in the middle of the park. "I used to go down here a lot when I was younger. I just never really saw the entrance in from the school side until I saw a group of kids continuously using it." Minx said. She placed her shoes on the ground and placed her fingers in the provided grip. She held it tightly and began to pull it to the side. "There ... done." Minx panted as she finally pulled it across. "Who wants to go down there first?"

He continued to appreciate the trees around him, and the various plant life. Ah... Natura valde simplex est et sibi cosona... he thought to himself. He glanced at Min x, walking barefoot on the ground. He wondered if her... other selves were happy they were going this this factory. The first one seemed to be, before at least. He wondered what it was like, having multiple personalities, but considering how he'd acted before, he wasn't sure it would be proper to ask. He had initially walked right by the man hole, assumeing it wasn't where they were going, only looking back when he realized Minx wasn't beside him. 

 

When she started to struggle with the manhole cover, he walked over towards her to help, but she finished before he could. She mentioned a group of kids using the manhole cover alot to get around. "Huh.. seems weird..." he muttered. He pulled out a miniature flashlight from his backpocket, flashing it down the hole. "I guess i`ll head down first..." he muttered, pocketing the flashlight and climbing down... great... he was heading into the sewers with a crazy person. Father would be so proud. At least it's something different... part of his mind pointed out.

Katie suddenly gasped for air and fell to her knees, her head twitching violently to the side and her fire going out. "I'm sorry!" she bawled, eyes filling with tears. "I should have been here" she sobbed, "I'M SORRY!" she pounded her fist on the floor and that caused a ring or fire to rise around her and the two students. The flames didn't touch any of them, but they came dangerously close.

Minx climbed down after him. She jumped down the last few rungs and landed safely. "And she sticks the landing!" Minx shouted. She grins widely and starts heading off in the direction of the factory. "You coming or what slowpoke?" Minx asked. Devilinx was loving this.

Vincent fought not to roll his eyes as the girl cried out. Judgeing by how she was speaking it was Devilinx, best he could tell. Well, that awnsered that question... Angelinx had mentioned that they only came out when they were particularly excited.  He watched her run off ahead, challenging him it seemed. "What'd you call me?"He asked, feigning being offended as he got into a runners stance. He started off sprinting, quickly making up the distance between them, before jogging alongside her with ease. Oh yeah, running was easy. He wasn't a sprinter: running supper fast for short distances... yeah, no. But he had endurance to spare, so distance running was his thing. He was pretty confident he could keep up,if not pass her if he wanted to.

"How could any of those help?!" Whisper cried out to Rush.

 

When they were enclosed by the ring of fire, she jumped back, holding a singed part of her dress. She looked around at the flaming walls and panicked slightly. She could hear people coming down the same tunnel that brought them here, in a vain attempt she yelled to them.

 

"DON'T COME!!! THERE'S FIRE!!!"

Rush was too busy trying to figure out how to subdue the fire girl to come up with a decent answer to Whisper's question. "I don't know, there's obviously something wrong with her! Just... well, I guess you can't run now anyway, with this fire surrounding us. But let me handle this, alright? I don't want to see you get hurt." He grabbed the other girl and tried to pin her down against the floor.

Minx looked over as he jogged beside her. "What did I call you? Let's see ... a slowpoke. A snail and a slug." Minx repeated what she said and added a couple more into the mix. "Wanna race?" Minx asked. Without waiting for an answer, Minx took off running. 'Now what did you do that for?' Minx smiled and nodded her head at whatever Devilinx said.

Minx slid to a halt and held her arm out to stop Vincent from running past her. "Fire?" Minx asked cautiously. She looked up the ladder and began to climb up out of the manhole. Sliding the manhole to the side, she dragged herself out and looked at the factory entrance."WHY IS THERE FIRE!?" She yelled back.

"Oh man, you are just asking to be left in my dust!" He said with a smirk as he initially jogged alongside her. At her question, he didn't even bother vocalizing and answer, a smirk and him picking up the pace into a run being his only response. He kept alongside her the whole time, the only reason he didn't break ahead was... well... he didn't know where he was going. He was relying on her to lead the way, even in a race. His plan was that,once they were almost where they were going, he'd put that final boost of speed and get just ahead of her in time...

 

He blinked as the arm was put in front of him... and promptly did nothing as he ran through the outstretched arm. He was running, and with his size, the girl's arm wasn't gonna do much. "What, a fire!? Damn... okay, you need to- hey!" He shouted, seeing her already heading up the ladder. he reached up, trying to pull Minx down, but she was already climbed out of his reach. Dammit! He'd planned on having her stay, or head back to get the fire department, but instead she was climbing up! Towards a fire! Seeing no other choice, he promptly climbed up after her.

Minx's arm stung from Vincent's impact but she steadily walked towards the fire, trying to get as close as she can without getting burnt. She put a hand up to her face to try and stop the heat from getting to it. Peering closer, Minx saw three people there. One seemed to be banging the floor, the other two seem to be panicking. Minx coughed on the smoke and stepped back to Vincent. "Vincent, there are three kids in the circle of fire. What should we do?" Minx began to panic slightly and wondered at the same time why the fire isn't spreading anywhere.

Katie's head twitched once again, the fire died, the smoke vanished and now all that was left was ashes. Her eyes betrayed cold annoyance. 'I have to get control of that.' she thought still staring at the ground. The thought was more Xanas than Katie's. Xana noticed he had gained an audience. Not something he particularly wanted.

 

Still horribly annoyed, the young computer program stood and stared at the two students he had first meant and said with Katies voice, "Your 5 seconds are long up. Prepare to die." Her hands lit with fire that she showed off to the onlookers. "All of you!"

Rush shook his head. "I don't know what the hell you are, but I don't respond well to threats. In fact, you're starting to make me mad. And I've never been too good at controlling my temper." He cracked his knuckles. "So I guess I should apologize in advance for this, but really it's your own fault." Before she had a chance to do anything, he swung his fist at the strange girl and couldn't help feeling a sense of satisfaction as it connected with her jaw.

Xana chuckled at the punch. It had hurt sure, but only to the avatar he was using. "Than it is a fight human?" He grinned, in a whispered voice, "I shall have you know," He grabbed the boy firmly by the shoulder, "this body is an innocent avatar for my, lets say spirit. I stole her and she will take all your punches." He pushed the boy back, but instead of grinning smugly, he let a face of worry and fear cross Katie's features. "So," Katie said innocently, "I guess we have to fight now?"

Rush shrugged. He was mad now, and he was going to hit something. "Well then, I'm sorry about this, but I guess I'm going to have to knock this thing out of you. It's for your own good... I think." He delivered another punch to her head, hoping he could knock her out and thing of something from there.

Minx put her hands up to her face in shock when she saw the boy punch the girl. 'Why did he do that!?' Minx went closer now that the flames were ashes. "Look at her eyes ..." Minx whispered. 'Yeah. They have symbols in them for pupils.' She didn't want to get any closer to their fight.

When he was asked what to do, Vincent fought to stay calm and, thankfully, succeeded. Years of being mentally prepared for stressful situations had to be thanked for that. The flames were way too tall to smother with something, even if he had a jacket or something on him... he didn't have a cell phone, and he imagine that if Minx had one, it wasn't with her: wasn't as if she had pockets on her dress, so that threw out calling the fire department...

 

So imagine his surprise when the fire suddenly turned to ash. "The hell...?" He muttered. He gasped as the girl... was it the same girl he'd seen before, with the blue dress? Regardless, her freakin' hands caught on fire! Okay, that was something he couldn't explain, but she shouted something about time being up, and then she threatened them! Normally, a threat from a girl her size wouldn't have bothered him, but... fire hands kinda changed that.  "Minx, get behind me!" He said, stepping in front of her forming a human wall between Minx and the fire-hand girl... he had no idea what was going on, but he remembered one thing: protecting civilians. Okay, technically he was a civilian too, but regardless... maybe he was just being stupidly protective.

Alphonse had grown tired of waiting for the elevator and sat in a corner nearby. After waiting too long, he simply passed out.

 

He was jolted awake by the sounds of shouting and hellfire from nearby. The bridge had five people on it, one of them with fire jetting out of their hands. Had he been sober, he probably would have gone for help, but in this case he decided to do something a bit more risky. He took out the spare bottle of whiskey and cracked it, attempting to draw the girls attention as he put some of the whiskey in his mouth without swallowing it.

"What the hell is this?" Dex asked aloud while digging up any information from the computer. "This is like a real virtual world. Amazing." He started typing rapidly, till he came across that same symbol, highlighting a sort of tower that was glowing red. "I bet that tower has something to do with this." He said, "But it can only be deactivated from...inside the virtual world? But how would..."

 

He then noticed a program, waiting to be run, "Scanners, what is that supposed to...Holy $#&%. So that's how you do it." He then realized that to stop that kid and he girl he's controlling, someone had to go into the virtual world and deactivate that tower. "My life is never easy, is it?"
