Does the scanner simply take the mind and transport it to their avatars in Lyoko or their actual physical bodies?

 

If it was their bodies wouldn't they suffer from muscle pains and junk from all the fighting?

 

Since nobody else ever answered this, I guess I'll go ahead and give it a shot. Yes, their bodies are in Lyoko. Sort of. Jeremy explains it once as their bodies being turned into some kind of digital particles or whatever technobabble. And they do appear to suffer from pain after they rematerialize, but not nearly as much of it as you'd expect, and they seem to recover from it pretty much immediately. So... kind of?
