Glory screamed with pain as the spear grazed her shoulder, but she kept flying til she was unable to see the ground any more for the black storm clouds below her. Regardless of the pain she felt, Glory knew she had no choice but to continue to fly til she could find a safe place to rest and recuperate. A normal cloud would do; she bravely flew up, looking for one. The heavier storm clouds lay below; the lighter white clouds would be above.

It would seem that this unicorn was either very lucky or very skilled, the swipe that was about to split her skull was ended suddenly and violently. Directly in front of her horn the paw was vaporized into a bloody mist and sent the wild cat spiraling to the ground, he felt all the animals pain, but high on Equibane as he was the pain was pleasure and he relished in it.

The cat landed hard on the ground, sliding and leaving a bloody smear. He pushed his will down on the creature harder, forcing it to move and act through the pain and not to go into shock. It staggered to it's feet, limping on three legs and a blood painful stump, he forced it to look around for where the prey had gone still seeking to taste the blasted mares flesh.

Soul watched as those who were able to get away ran. His sword fell to the ground with an audible Clang, as FireLeaf hit pinpoints to stop his magic. Another pony Fell down and landed on top of him, pinning him to the ground. Thanks to his armour, he wasn't physically HURT, but just too drained of energy and in too much pain from his horn. He cursed every curse word he knew, and hoped Artemis still had the Magical paper.

Soon he began losing consciousness from a lack of air. He watched as Techni fired a second laser, then saw Blackness.

Technicolor, shocked by her horn's newfound power, ran away into a dark cave and turned her fur black with her powers to camoflauge herself, stomping through water to make herself's scent invisible to the wildcat. She climbed up to a high place exhaustedly and rested. she sighed and sat there to restore her power. She wanted to drag tSoul back with her because he was injured, but she couldn'tdo it fast enough, and in tears, not able to dsave her friends, listened in horror to the sound outside.

Fireleaf grabbed his prey and threw it over his back. He had one captured. He was the first! Of course he was, he was the hunter after all...

He screamed at lightning, barely capable of producing words becauss of the equibane. "I take prison..." Was all he said. He then took soul away from the fight and into the forest, heading for the mare's clearing.

He could smell her or at least the cat could... It stumbled into the cave looking for her it growled and yowled, which echoed about in the small space. It lost her scent in the water she had trampled through and stood motionless looking about.

It was Poe, his pet Raven, that let him know where the mare was hiding, it had been watching dutifully the whole time. In the high place where she was hiding it landed next to her on silent wings. Then right next to the mares ears it cried out, "NEVERMORE!!"

The cats head jerked up and looked directly at her.

The mares lived separately from the stallions, in a fenced clearing in the very centre of the forest. This wasn't due to sexism, but was entirely the choice of the mares, who were on the whole more calm than the stallions. They wanted a peaceful place to raise foals, gather food and discuss important things between them, without a lot of clumsy stallions charging all over the place. There was also, in the middle of the array of huts where the mares lived, a giant cage for keeping prisoners. This cage had been strengthened with spells and anypony put inside would not stand a hope in hell of escaping.

One such mare who lived in the mare's clearing was named Wish. She was a dark teal coated unicorn mare, with a black and white mane and tail. The Equibane meant that Wish was tall and strong, but it didn't affect her ability to care for her foal or to guard prisoners. She had a foal at hoof now, a small filly who's pink and purple patched coat gave a clue as to the identity of her sire. The filly was named Lily, and stayed close to her mother as Wish walked outside.

Malinter was getting nowhere he couldn't get any leverage on the golem with the warlock slashing at his face. The few cuts he had were small but burned like crazy. For a moment he' considered perhaps taking on the magic user was not the wisest decison he ever made, Equibane did tend to impair judgement after all. But sometimes it did the opposite. A sudden flash of inspriation struck, he broke of his attack but as he did so he stomped his hooves into the earth causing  it to burst up under the golem, it wasn't much but it was enough to get underneath it and lift both of them off the ground.

With a truimphant roar he the threw them both threw the air and into one of the worn down buildings causing it to collapse on itself.

Her turned his head to find another target worth fighting.

Technicolor couldn't fight anymore. she had one last option.

She remembered a trick one of her best friends, fluttershy, had taught her. she was annoyed by she crow and knocked it out of the way.

She looked directly at the cat. she knew that this was not natural for a wildcat. she looked softly into its eyes.

"you poor thing," she said gently. "I know you don't want to do this. I am very sorry about your leg. you seem like a strong cat though. one of such in which you can survive well off without me. you are a mighty hunter, easily catching something much bigger than me." she pluched a feather from the crow, lifted it with her horn, and stroked the wildcat's head with it. She then realized what she must do.

"Mr. Wildcat," she said gently as she stroked it, "You can take me as prisoner to the tribe if you want. maybe I can help. but please, don't kill me, we will never make peace like that." she lit up her fur, willingly showing herself in an eerie yet gentle black light.

@@Malinter,

The golem crawled out of the wreckage, popping its neck. It may feel no pain, but it knew that if it kept fighting, it'd be unable to help its master. Grabbing Mantorok's body, he pulled it out from under the wreckage. Mantorok groaned in pain, rubbing his skull with the hoof that wasn't weaponized. There was a part of him that told him to run...but he knew he wouldn't make it. Especially not with his golem in such a bad state. Wait, were there some Narokath and Santak runes inside the pony who had sent them flying? If he could access them, he'd be able to heal himself and his golem. But to access them, he'd have to tear them out.

The savage would survive, no doubt, which was the problem. Mantorok knew well he could not kill that beast in a straight up fight. He might be able to carve out some runes though. Mantorok grunted at his golem. The golem charged and Mantorok held out his arm like a spear, ready to carve out the chunk of flesh on the brute's back that contained the runes

As he had done since starting the expedition, Saronyx held his tongue throughout the entire discussion. He was always an observer of sorts, and this was an excellent chance to do just that. Words were thrown back and forth, tempers rose, and eventually it all coalesced in a chaotic skirmish. Most of the team began to flee, but a few stayed and tried to fight, the only ones he saw being Soul and the young Technicolor. When everything began to spiral out of control, the calm Crystal stallion had backed off slightly, out of the way of the combat. Somehow, he had managed to avoid being involved yet again. His raven danced back and forth beside him, feathers fluffed as the black bird cried out. Saronyx paid him little mind, merely watching the chaos unfolding before him with varying levels of concern, pity, and fascination. It wasn't until he felt Corvus' beak pecking at his leg and subsequently taking wing that he tore his attention away.

The first hint he had of his imminent danger was the colorful reflection of light against an airborne object, and from that point things seemed to start moving in slow motion. Really they were advancing just as quickly as they normally would, but his mind's fast pace felt like everything was moving as if submerged in water. It took him but a second to realize that this particular object was actually a pony. To be specific, a Crystal much like himself, though they were larger and bore wings. One conclusion he could make was that Equibane caused exponential growth, and if he did not step out of the way, he may very well end up in a bad state. With this in mind, he attempted to tear his gaze from the dazzling sight and move out of the immediate zone of danger, but for some inexplicable reason he found he was unable to do as he wished. The Crystal stallion growled slightly at this turn of events. But perhaps it wouldn't be too bad. He was a Crystal pony after all and they were able to take an impressive amount of punishment. Besides, they had mentioned seeking prisoners. What better way to observe them than from within their own home?

Saronyx's train of thought was promptly interrupted when the sudden - and immensely painful - impact of his assailant's dive struck him. He did not struggle, knowing to do so would likely just make his position worse. Not that it would have been very easy to struggle given the force with which he'd been struck. It was a chore merely to draw breath for a few seconds, though he managed to stay conscious, if barely. Whether that was a good thing, however, still remained to be seen.

@@Malinter,

"Doctor's appointment" Mantorok muttered under his breath, letting the golem slam into the savage's flank. The result was Mantorok flying into the air while the golem struggled to keep the brute off balance. Mantorok's scalpels slashed through the areas where the Cutie Marks would be(though they were distorted for some reason). As he slashed through the flanks, Mantorok's keen vision caught the the glow of runes and he grabbed them. He tumbled to the ground and began chanting immediately.

"Narokath, Santak, Chattur'gha!" he snarled, red runes emblazoning themselves on the ground next to him and healing his wounds. That had gone rather well....except for the fact that his golem was at the brink of death from its charge

@,

He couldn't believe it, he was surprised the frail old pony had even gotten back up, but what had surprised him was even more  was the speed  the golem charged at him with. It took most of his strength just to halt its charge and not tip him over but the warlock seized the chance to leap on his back and take a slash at his cutie mark, he muttered some kind of incantation and he felt something leech out of him and heal the warlock who seemed rather pleased with himself until Malinter took the golem by the leg  and spun the golem as a makeshift club to sent him flying back wards skidding across the ground.

The golem tired to break free but he'd had enough of this thing for one day and proceeded to repeatedly smash it against the ground till it lost a limb or too before finally crushing its skull with a powerful stomp of his hoof. He almost expected it to rise headless but whatever foul sorcery powered this thing seemed to have leaked out and it stayed dead.... if it was even alive in the first place.

Malinter walked over and put pressure on Mantrok's knee forcing the scalpel from his hoof. The warlock made to slash him with the other but stopped when Mal rised the hoof for the killing blow and threw his remaining scalpel aside.

 "A very wise decision..."

Wind Sonnet.

@@00Pony,

Sonnet felt the rush of adrenaline as the impact of the ground shook through her hooves - there was something satisfying about the use of speed and momentum over brute force which she revelled it: not that force was something she lacked. The pony below her looked... oddly serene. Admittedly it had been quiet when the rest had started to shout and fight but she had expected - no, hoped for - a little more in the way of resistance.

She drew herself up to her full hight - impressive wingspan fully extended to further increase her size and intimidation value: not that it seemed necessary, given that her quarry seemed no larger or more intimidating than the others.

Certainly there was some semblance: the same elegant, tough properties of his coat - though less pronounced than her own no doubt thanks to these intruders lack of Equibane - shimmered slightly in the light. Very unusual - to see another with the semblance of glass or crystal was so alien and foreign that it in itself overruled her inborn need to shed blood in the name of the herd... though it was an internal struggle that was aided in no small part by the lack of fighting.

The plant would do that to you: it made things like violence... hazy. Less questionable. She liked it that way - it was simpler.

"These are out lands, pureblood!" Snapped the feral mare firmly - channeling her voice as an alternative output for her violent desires. "You are trespassing here!"

The chaos around them was a blue of sharpness - simultaneously blurred into irrelevance and brought into focus as each potential danger became painfully visible: her attention undivided as her subconscious watched for threats for her - the trance that she knew so well, that drove the weaker ponies mad with rage and bloodlust...

She preferred it that way. Besides, their single-mindedness meant that she had a moment to seek answers to some questions of her own.

"What... Who are you, pureblood? Why are you here? Speak!"

Almost fainting with exhaustion and pain, Glory finally managed to struggle on to a big white fluffy cloud. Its surface felt like soft feathers as she collapsed on to it with a grateful sigh. Now she was safe, Glory was able to use her magic to heal her wounds; her hind legs had been torn as she'd struggled to escape from the feral pony who'd attacked her, and his spear, thrown later, had pierced her shoulder. Luckily her saddlebags had remained intact so Glory was able to utilise the herbs she'd brought with her to accentuate her magic. Exhausted as she was, both with the strain of flying and with the terror she'd felt, the vision that came to her as she lay on the cloud was no surprise. Glory's cutie mark was the symbol of prophecy, which was her talent. The visions never came to order, but they often occurred at times like this, when she was tired and suffering extreme emotion, in this case, fear.

Stepping off the train now, came the team of researchers. They were a motley group indeed, this large team of ponies stepping fearlessly thru the bustling frontier town. A pair of zebras, chosen for their knowledge of herbs and plants. Earth ponies, for their strength and endurance, unicorns for their magehood and pegasi for their skills with weather and knowledge of travail. A sweet faced pegasus mare walked behind the unicorn stallion in front, her pink and purple patched coat shining in the sunlight. Three crystal ponies walked behind her, refugees from the Crystal Kingdom, now working for Celestia out of gratitude. A unicorn stallion with a silvery coat and a striking black and white mane, his short sighted eyes peering thru thick glasses and obviously full of excitement to be on this trip.

Coming out of the vision, Glory couldn't he;p but weep. She knew what it was that she had seen; the first ever research team sent to gather the Equibane. And she also knew that the frontier town that they had been in had once been alive and populated, but the ferals had invaded it, killing some, taking others prisoner and causing a few ponies to flee into the Badlands, never to return. She remembered the hulking pegasus stallion she'd seen today, named Lightning. Could he really be the descendant of the sweet faced pegasus mare that she'd seen in her vision? Glory knew the truth, and it saddened her. She curled up on the cloud, tucking her tail round her hooves and laid her head down. Despite what she'd seen, Glory was soon asleep.

@Everypony ((OOC:Too many are getting captured... i think it's time everyone that wants to come with those that escape follows Artemis)) Artemis received the parchment which she acknowledged as magical in nature from the moment it touched her hooves. No sooner had she received the parchment than everything got out of control. It was something she expected something that triggered an adrenaline rush in her. Immediately she donned her claws out of her backpack and Lykos dashed at her side. A vanguard and his mate fighting together... a lone light shining in the darkness and it's name is...

"LEGION!" she shouted together with Lykos howling both with bestial vigor rallying the rest to her with her.

"We will NOT fall!" she exclaimed charging forth seeking those who would stay together with her.

"If you value your lives flee with us to fight another day!" said her companion which was sure to surprise everyone that thought he wasn't more than just a beast. Sure surrendering would be an option both of them thought but it was not the way to win... Fight... fight till the end like your instincts tell you... rally the crowd of the fallen like a wolf pack. Lykos was an independent creature... a magical beast that followed Artemis out of gratitude... a noble wolf now made sentient thanks to the spell of a kind druid. He didn't treat Artemis like a master but rather as companion... she was to him a knight of the beasts of the wild... and right now he saw in her eyes the beast that she once was run rampart calling forth the union of her pack.

Whether she would get noticed or not was one thing Artemis wondered... too many noble ponies in this group... too many were willing to sacrifice themselves... others thought that running away from their mates was the solution to surviving... but Mantrok got captured by Malinter. She was okay with one noble... but if all of them ended this way they would never escape... didn't they know that someone would have to free them? And that by this team sacrifice they were condemning their chances to escape later... she would NOT end up like these brute savages! She was a noble beast! A beast yes... and one that highly bounded upon it's instincts... but a beast that knew bravery, courage, cunning. A lioness, a tigress, a female wolf... a trailblazer...

Soul groaned as he regained consciousness. It was still raining (OOC: Lightning called a storm, I'm not wrong on this, it's raining, right?). His head was still throbbing in pain. As his entire body was bouncing, he noticed that he was on another ponies back. From the sound of leaves and twigs being crushed under this ponies weight, he assumed they were in a forest.

'Great' He thought. 'I barely helped anyone in that scuttle.'

He thought back to the battle, and what had happened. It was a blur of motion, but he had hit many of the wild ponies. He had helped Glory get away, and he thought he hit Malinter and Lightning as well. How deep the cuts were, he had no idea.

He noticed that he still had his saddlebag on his back, and his armour on. His magic was still recovering, so he couldn't levitate anything, but he analyzed what was still in there. His horn ointment, yes, food, no, water, no, tent, yes. He sighed a sigh of relief when he felt the Magic paper in there. He had dropped his swords, so the only weapon he had on him was a small concealed Dagger, hidden inside his helmet. It was almost useless on normal ponies, and the only thing it had going for it weapon-wise was that it was serrated. He knew what to use it for, though, so He didn't mind. If he could hold onto the dagger, they might have a chance of escape.

Using his magic in this state had tired him out again. He groaned, and soon fell back into a world of Black.

@,

Saron winced slightly at the mare's voice. It was both a mix of a relapse of pain from her impact, and the volume of her speech. But to look on the bright side, at least she wasn't slamming her hooves repeatedly into his sides. He drew in a breath to respond, but the action of doing so caused him to descend into a fit of coughing, which when coupled with the pain in his sides, was an altogether unpleasant experience. It didn't last too long however, and eventually he was able to respond. With a grimace and a slight grunt, he turned his gaze to the mare pinning him, rather than the ghost town in the distance. First impressions, exceptionally bright, hostile, and certainly out of place. She demanded that he speak, voicing two more questions. He finally spoke, "I am known by the name Saronyx."

Saronyx cleared his throat, then continued, "I was sent here on order of the Princesses, Celestia and Luna, to research the Equibane plant." He kept his voice civil and calm. Despite the irritation that he admittedly felt, putting voice to it would not help his case, "I realize now that we are trespassing, and it is something for which I will apologize. It is just one of those things that you do when your monarch orders it." - "The Equibane likely has some form of ward spell. I spent hours viewing the history of this place before departure, but all I saw was the original team set out, but everything after that was a painful black blur. Even just contact with this mare is giving up nothing. This plant and its properties are truly frightening." He thought to himself.

Glancing away from his assailant, Saron spied the other Ferals gathering up the members of the research team that had not succeeded in escaping. There was the old soldier, Soul. The warlock, Mantorok, and the rather hyper young Unicorn, Technicolor. The others had escaped, it seemed. Saron turned his attention back to the Crystal Pegasus mare, but didn't speak, waiting merely to see whether he would be expected to walk himself. Beyond the mare, he was able to faintly spot Corvus circling, keeping a silent vigil.

He ordered the mares briskly. He gave the young filly beside Wish one single look and frowned. Foals... So weak, yet so much potential. It fascinated and disgusted him at the same time. "I will be off to hunt now. Be it for intruders or food, we need both. I will return soon." He said. He walked off, and then suddendly stood still. "Unless there is something you need of me... If that is so please be quick."

How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Three percent of the population likes classical music, if only we could get it up to four percent we'd be back in business and all our problems would be over." How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Everybody loves classical music! They just haven't found out about it yet!" It's an entirely different world. It's what you make of it that counts.

I found an easy way to find out if you've inspired someone. If their eyes are shining, you know you're doing it!

@@Scribblegroove, Wish rolled her eyes. Stallions! Always so impatient. It was no wonder that she and the other mares prefered to live apart.

"No, we are fine for the moment," she said. "Just make sure that there are no trails that lead to the clearing from your travail here." She called to other mares around the clearing to get them to come help her with the prisoners.
