ALIS 38 March 24, 2014 Share March 24, 2014 (edited) Well this is not an opinion I have come across in any seriousness, just jokes. Seems to be a lot of theories in this thread on this very minority opinion. Hmm I would say it is because fan works in this community has more than once gone on about how godly Alicorns are. On and on endlessly in comics and fanfics about their limitless power and how they can end the world by a mere thought... Then they get pwned by giant bugs and shrubbery in the show. Kinda throws a wrench in the headcanon. I personally like my Alicorns like they are portrayed in the show, moderately powerful. Big and tough with lots of magic but they can't just wave a magic wand and fix everything. They are the leadership, not the army. If you make Alicorns over the top then every threat has to be over the top, an army can't threaten Equestria if they can be Alicorned, it has to be some super bad who is 40 feet tall with laser eyes. So I like the current portrayal in the show where they have limits. Also... Because Luna fanboys are idiots Because people can get REALLY retarded sometimes. Is a classic situation of sensless hate I think people in general are cowards, for commenting that someone is weak based on defeat Poor showing, MLP Forum, such rude flaming in an area for discussion. /shakes head in disappointment. Castle Bleck 19,377 March 24, 2014 Share March 24, 2014 Speaking about comics - in Friends Forever Issue #3 Celestia explains why she doesn't help Twilight directly or takes care of some serious things herself. That's the way she teaches Twilight, because well, she's her mentor and this way is the best one to prepare Twili to be a real princess. This is not just a government position to rule the country, she has to be able to do much more than this. Celestia would intervene in any time if things would gone very bad that Twilight couldn't handle them. But Twilight proved to be very good and powerfull student so there is no need to help her most time. Just read that one online. My reaction to it: P.S. - R.I.P. Mr. Ebert. Courageous Thunder Dash 7,824 March 24, 2014 Share March 24, 2014 She was in love with him! I disagree with this. There's no way that Celestia could be in love with Sombra. I mean, being an evil King over The Crystal Empire and making the ponies his slaves? Nah... Celestia is not weak and cowardly. She's just a busy princess, having to deal with the guards and all, and her sister. 2 Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeWg-TtBRMfqketa1ELyKGg Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/menelik-david-kenneth-cannady 2nd SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/thunder-dash-alternative/tracks Pony.fm: https://pony.fm/thunder-dash

Princess Periwinkle 3,775 March 24, 2014 Share March 24, 2014 People say that because she never actually does anything in the show, and the only time we've seen her fight (in a scenario that isn't centuries ago) she's lost (think Chrysalis and the Everfree Forest). I don't necessarily agree, and attribute it to a few things. First, she's getting old. Second, (and partly because of the first point) she wants Twilight to deal with threats like these because it's going to be entirely up to her in the future. Of course, this is assuming Celestia is eventually going to give up reign of Equestria which is in no way confirmed. That being said, I have this really great headcanon about Celestia and Sombra in which Sombra was a student of Celestia's. They developed feelings for each other and Celestia brought him along to face Discord against the recommendation of Luna. During the battle, Discord touched Sombra with dark magic and he later became fascinated with it. Sombra's intrest in the dark arts spiraled out of control and ended up consuming him. The rest of the story writes itself, but it's not entirely on topic so I'll probably revisit this in a blog at some point.

Adachi 772 March 24, 2014 Share March 24, 2014 I just hope they don't pull a Lion King and have Celestia die while protecting one of her subjects or something. It would likely make most of the haters stop hating, but it would be tragic. But sometimes it feels like she has to pull a Mufasa for the haters to stop 1 “I am quite sure now that often, very often, in matters concerning religion and politics a man’s reasoning powers are not above the monkey’s.” — Mark Twain

Not only that, but if she lost against Chrysalis, then she would likely have lost against Sombra too. As cool as it would've been to take care of things by herself, no ruler in history has put themselves in such danger before (except Napoleon, who rode in the front of his troops in battle) “I am quite sure now that often, very often, in matters concerning religion and politics a man’s reasoning powers are not above the monkey’s.” — Mark Twain

Hive King 2,001 March 24, 2014 Share March 24, 2014 @, Chrysalis had been taking steroids for weeks and still just barely won, that's not the same thing. Sombra is rather weak power wise, considering how easily he was trashed by Celestia and Luna. And plenty of leaders have been on the front lines, Leonidas, Joan of Arc, Vlad the Impaler, etc. @, If she fell in love with Good Sombra, then she's an idiot for thinking Evil Sombra would even know about it "Aren’t we the same? Nuke87654 1,849 March 24, 2014 Share March 24, 2014 @, Sombra is rather weak power wise, considering how easily he was trashed by Celestia and Luna. I wouldn't say that considering he managed to banish the crystal empire before he was defeated. I would say he's powerful enough to not get stomped by the sisters, but below their own power. Also, I share your worry for the 'Revelations arc' as it can destroy Celestia's character in ways that would cause me to lose alot of respect for their ability to do long term arcs they're doing right now.

Noodles 109 March 24, 2014 Share March 24, 2014 That is what I'm saying. Everybody say's that she was sent Twilight Sparkle to defeat Sombra as a test, but maybe it was because she loved Sombra so much, she couldn't bear fighting him again! Or Sombra was to power full for Celestia to risk herself without her connection to the elements of Harmony. In one way Celestia is weaker than she use to be aka no connection to the elements of harmony. But as to being a weak or cowardly leader, um No! the quee er sorry Princess dose not go into battle all the time she sends Champions. ie the main six. she is the ruler after all. and she knows that the main six have the connection to the elements. before season the main six where The chosen champions, chosen by fate or the tree itself. O sorry that's off topic. Celestia is not weak or cowardly. she is a Smart leader. I am a member of the Luna fan club because Luna is a more Interesting character.
