Thanks, I'm on W10 (22H2) but I figured out it was just a motherboard BIOS update that was needed. I was on an older version for a while since this specific motherboard model that Gigabyte has was having issues with so many BIOS versions after F2. Just checking the BIOS list right now and they have F1, F2, F4, then it goes straight to F30 and counts normally from then on. My fault for being an early adopter (it was a good bundle deal at the time for CPU + RAM + Motherboard). I've updated to the latest version they have, F37, conveniently released a few days ago.

With that being said, I've already spent the past few months trying out different Linux distros and will be moving to CachyOS, but I might do it sooner than I planned. You can read more about that here: https://mlpforums.com/topic/205489-the-linux-thread/#comment-6335929 :fluttershy:

Oh that reminds me of the first PC build I put together. :pinkiehappy: I needed a BIOS update on my old Gigabyte motherboard to fix an instability issue with my ATI graphics card that caused black screens. I was nooby back then, I did not know much about PCs and I was new to the hobby, and that led to some wasted money on gear I did not need, I don't do that as much nowadays though, that was a very long time ago. I think on my next PC build there would be zero mistakes, probably.

I am aware of the risks of BIOS update, and we should only do them if they're needed, but problems that caused bricked motherboards are rare. Some motherboards come with a dual BIOS which helps to mitigate this problem.

I wish you luck on finding your ideal Linux distros you are comfortable with, there are so many of them out there.

Thinking about doing this "on-demand" thing at Target. I have way too much time in my hands and not enough stuff to really do on my own. I can also use the extra income and I've worked there before. Was generally not a stressful work environment. Wish I didn't have to do this, but, it is what it is.

I went through and cleaned out my subscriptions on YouTube tonight. It made me depressed, honestly, seeing all the dead channels. Found out Major Bruce Gordon is still going strong though. I found his channel on my subs and looked him up, was a little worried since he hasn’t uploaded in a while. That made me happy at least, I really like that guy.

About the PonyvilleFM music I'd be listening to on my new sound system after Christmas. Forget the Wharfedale diamond, I found a pair of decent JBL stage 240B speakers which I would like to listen to that sort of music on. It's still not high end, but it's a step up from what I was planning before, more refinement. Not that there's anything wrong with the Wharfedale diamond 12.2 but the higher impedance makes it more difficult to get a good amp for, and I don't want to risk clipping them.

Sometimes audiophiles can be a bit extreme with the acoustic isolation thing, I'd ask them "ever felt thunder rumble?" "ever felt the roar of a loud powerful vehicle engine?" these vibrations are localized and felt, not just heard, this is how vibrations work in real life. So whenever people try to tell me this is not how audio is meant to be in Hifi, I ignore them. When I set up audio systems, I use anti vibration measures, but mostly to prevent it being a problem for neighbors. That does not change the fact that low frequency vibrations are supposed to be felt as well as heard, it's called physics.

if they like sacrificing realism for the sake of "purity" be my guest, but I like to add immersion with my audio systems, if I am going to have a speaker system at all, I want to make it feel like I am at the rave, not just listening to it. Floor filler is my philosophy when it comes to EDM.

No clue how we ended up in this conversation. :facehoof:

West coast xmas is a different then east coast xmas....:double-shock:

How is Christmas on the west coast different from Christmas on the east coast? Is it just weather or is there something else?

I got a very nice book haul today that I’ve purchased thanks to my pay going in early lol. So Happy Holidays to me. I will say it’s surprising seeing The Wolf King special editions from the book boxes go for so much when you can literally just buy the hardcover deluxe version with sprayed edges off Amazon. Which I got this from my Allurial box and just reading Amazons description it mentions Booktok. I’ve put down the past few big on Booktok books I’ve started to read due to nontent. I at least managed to finish Death Obsession. I hope whenever I get to this there’s an actual plot this time. I’m finding out Booktok be having some bad taste in books.

Good thing the short circuit protection protected my computer. Accidentally plugged USB C into USB A, common mistake it seems when reading on other forums. :ButtercupLaugh: but yes, many modern motherboards have safeguards against that, as even a faulty device or bad cable can cause a short on USB.
