Adorkable 2,737 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 (edited) Hello! ^^ So, I had a thought recently. I bet you can't guess what it is, not like it's in the title or anything. Anyways, jokes aside, I have a suggestion about the username changes. Now, I've noticed how you get 3 changes within 30 days. (Right?) So, if someone changes their username or maybe even twice, how will you know? I think it would be nice to have a notification of it, just so you can know. ^^ Note: This would only apply to friends. (Just so if everyone decided to change their name on one day, someone's notification box wouldn't explode.) Example: Adorkable has changed their username from "Adorkable" to "ThatOneSonicFan". Does this sound okay? ^^" I don't think this was already suggested, I searched for it. ^^ What do you think? ^^ Edited March 25, 2014 by Adorkable
Lightwing 12,973 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 Mmm...it's an interesting idea Sometimes,i get lost when someone who i think that i don't know talks to me,and then, later,i discover that he was a friend who changed his username I look forward to this idea 2 ~~ Forum Rules - Forum FAQ - What do you think of me? ~~
Ribbonfree 2,383 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 Yeah that would be a welcome change! I change my name pretty often when I can, personally.
StarSwirlTheBearded 356 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 Yeah, that's a good idea. Name changes confuse people. That's why I currently have my former username as my signature. 1 Sig by Kyoshi — Ask me anything – http://mlpforums.com/topic/94670-ask-sstb-me/
Obsolete 681 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 I wouldn't oppose such a change, but at the same time I don't think it's necessary. Finding out who they are is as simple as visiting their profile and clicking on their name history. Personally, I think it's kinda fun when a strange username unexpectedly pops up on my feed. I like surprises.
Adorkable 2,737 March 25, 2014 Author Share March 25, 2014 Finding out who they are is as simple as visiting their profile and clicking on their name history. True, but do you go and check every single person's profile in your friends list every day? ^^ I mean, not knowing that "this person" changed their username could make one think it was either deleted or removed. Just things like that. ^^
Clarity 3,094 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 Personally, I think it's kinda fun when a strange username unexpectedly pops up on my feed. I like surprises. YOUR FACE likes surprises. Don't you remember the time when you impersonated MY FACE so that I appeared to be spamming Saya? (FLE(HOMULEVELANGRY( Anyway, on topic. I think this is a great idea, surprised this hasn't been mentioned before. I wouldn't confuse people that way; besides, clicking on a person's name and checking their name history is way too tiresome. This'll be useful, especially when a certain FACE is going to impersonate MY FACE!
Moonlight 7,286 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 I'd definitely use this feature as it can get kind of confusing to see who is who after a name change. It's easy to go to their profile and check their name history, of course, but an added notification system that can be switched on and off would be rather helpful. 1 matching setups with my bff pathfinder
Obsolete 681 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 True, but do you go and check every single person's profile in your friends list every day? ^^ Again, I don't find it particularly bothersome. Finding out someone's previous identity takes all of two clicks. That, and I already like viewing people's profiles. But it's not a big deal either way. If they decide to implement this, I won't resist it. YOUR FACE likes surprises. Don't you remember the time when you impersonated MY FACE so that I appeared to be spamming Saya? It adds a bit of color to his day.
Jokuc 8,174 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 (edited) @@Adorkable, I actually suggested this two years ago: How about a feature that gives all friends to a certain user a notification like "Dirty_Harry123 has changed their name to Clean_Harry123"? Then you will know who they are. Sadly, I never heard anything from the administrators about it. @, get in here. Personally I don't really care, I think it's fun to get confused sometimes. Especially during forum fads Edited March 25, 2014 by Jokuc

Jokuc 8,174 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 (edited) I'm sorry to hear that, maybe it will be passed this time! ^^ We can only hope, right? ^^ It's not really about it getting passed or not, jokuc just need to demand it but that such a thing does not exist as a default feature for IP.Board and an extension for it does not exist either, at least not when I search on the internet. Either a tech staff will have to write the code for us in order to do so (which I doubt we have the time for, even though it should not be something way too complicated). Or you do it Jokuc style, nag at ask someone who made similar extensions through extremely cheesy messages. In fact, this is exactly what I just did. I will get back to you as soon as I have information about it. For other staff reading this, I'll refer to my Memorial Tower thread. Hypn0ticD 1,213 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 Yeah, there should be something like this here! As many of you stated, name changes can be very helpful, so people like me don't freak out when you think a total stranger's talking to ya! I've seen this feature implemented on DA, and it seems to work really well! 1 Hypn0's Art Dump! Check it out sometime!

SCS 7,537 April 19, 2014 Share April 19, 2014 -snip- I definitely support your suggestion, as long as you would be able to toggle it on or off as you can with most other notifications. Really confused. I thought we had the name change notification feature, already. I just checked my notifications settings, and I don't see anything in there about username change notifications.
